Anyone see where Mark Foley R-FL Congressman will not haveto answer to charges that he sent sexual messages to pages in the Congress.

Florida closes Foley investigation without charges

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement closed a sex-related criminal probe of former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley on Friday without filing charges, authorities said.

"There is insufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges," said Gerald Bailey, commissioner of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Authorities were investigating whether the Florida Republican, who resigned in September 2006, might have used congressional computers to engage or solicit minors in any illegal activities.

Officials said they were hindered by refusal from Foley and the House of Representatives to allow inspection of the computers.

"FDLE conducted as thorough and comprehensive investigation as possible considering Congress and Mr. Foley denied us access to critical data," Bailey said in a statement. "Should additional information arise which is pertinent to this case, we will ensure it is appropriately investigated."

My Take

Let Mark Foley have been a democrat the repubs would have investigated and got enough information to sustain a conviction whether Mark cooporated or not.

Soooooo, the accused in Florida can just refuse to hand over information and the case is closed. OK. Now taxpayers can stop paying for those private prisons. Now we don't need an FDLE. Come to think of it, we won't be needing any judges, either.

The Wimp-o-crats in congress are allergic to holding criminal Republicans accountable for crimes.

Quoting the words of the VP...so??

Seriously, did anyone expect any different type of outcome? Seems to me that nothing happens to anyone unless perhaps they REALLY piss off someone who's more important than them.

Ok, just a thought here....why bother with putting all these sick bastards in jail when they can slime their way out with their consiglieries? I propose putting mentally ill folks where they SHOULD be - in an asylum - where lawyers cannot easily release them, and a TEAM of doctors must unanimously agree in any form of release beyond physical and pharmacological lock-down. Things would be much easier if sexual predators were rendered sexually inert, fiscal predators were only allowed to touch play money, and sociopathic megalomaniacs were kept on such powerful tranquilizers that the only damage they could do would be to the army of imaginary dust critters that they herded under their hospital beds.

Common sense applied to current difficulties requires a spine. Beg, borrow or steal a structural engineer and get going. It's only the future of our way of life that's at stake.

Come to think of it, seems a couple of those kids had e-mails that Foley had sent them that WAS presented as evidence...must have been that the DEFENSE didn't have any redeeming evidence

They should have done to Foley exactly what they did to Gerry Studds.
