I've had house rabbits a couple of times as an adult. One of the sweetest ones had a cat box in the kitchen, which it knew how to use pretty much from day 1. We kept a child gate up at night, so he stayed on the linoleum with a blanket for bed. If I happened to be in bed in the morning when my wife lifted the gate, the bunny would bound upstairs, sail through the air onto the bed, sit on my chest and lick my nose. Very affectionate. His only problem was that because the teeth grow continuously, he had to find things to chew, so located the legs of some furniture and liked to pull up the carpet to get at the jute backing.

Awwww!

What was his name, gcurry?
This morning, my little duck Yerpsalot flew up on the bed to wake me up (he does this if I oversleep) and then Hef jumped up and raced around the bed - they both stayed there after I got up, and Hef kept running up to Yerp, daring him to peck him, then racing away around the bed

To tell you the truth, I can't remember anymore - it was about 30 years ago.
We also had a pet duck once even longer ago. He was orphaned so we raised him. He loved fried chicken (!). Ping the duck. Had to keep a transistor radio on at night, so he could sleep. They're a little harder to house train though.
I don't care what they say ... the animal - human thing is a continuum.

I love that "yay me" pic, Brother David!!!
Yerpsalot wears a harness, that's how he lives in the house, or it would be VERY messy

although I have raised ducklings in the house, who then moved outside when they grew up.

Aww..youall made me miss my beloved Mr.Toof,R.I.P. Big Guy.(he had a wolf tooth, malocclusion which prevented him chewing electric cords, but kept me having to shred carrots for him) Toofy had a sweet tooth, and climbed up Mom's arm grunting! that he would REALLY REALLY love some of her banana! He greeted every visitor running around and around their feet, and he could leap the tallest baby gate from a dead standstill in a single bound.BEST PET EVER!

Thanks Gwynogsrabbit,
My vet showed me how to clip his loer wit dog toenail clippers.AAK! Well, it worked, but he hated it.Shoved his big brown bunny head in my armpit ."If I can't see you, you can't see me!" Such a love!

Oh man, I have trouble clipping their NAILS!!! That must have been so hard!
Here are two of our other rabbits - I've got better pics of them somewhere. This is me being Hagrid for Halloween, and trying to get Cricket and Fawn to cooperate

Cricket is the little one I'm holding, and Fawn is the bigger one on the table. And yes that's a duck on my head.

Oh!!! That reminds me "make bird thread"

Bunneh story.
When I was in undergrad, I dated this really cute girl. She had blonde hair and gray eyes and looked a lot like Starbuck from BSG. Her grandfather had been a high up at UC Berkeley, so her mom lived in this ex-faculty house in the Berkeley hills. We used to go there all the time. Her mom was very accepting of me. They had a whole menagire - an old Irish setter, a frenetic lab/something mix, 3 cats and a black and white bunny named Fred.
Fred had, uh...issues. He was a bunny, and was gay, and had a thing for one of the male cats -- a rare orange calico male. So he was queer AND cross-species. I defy any academc celebrity gender theorist to theorize that lol
Poor Fred didn't get it -- he'd be trying to hump the kitty and kitty was like...uh... ???
Fred was the cutest thing. If he liked you, he would run circles around you and flap his little foot to make this slapping noise on the floor. He could do that for hours. He loved me for some reason, so he'd run circles around me. He was the sweetest thing I've ever seen. I miss Fred.

Kitty learned to endure it. But it was kind of like what happens when you pick cats up and cradle them like babies...their ears go flat and they take it for a bit, then struggle away and go hide lol
