Full Version: The Free Market Will Solve it

This is just sickening to me. All in the name of profits. Every argument I hear against regulation has to do with competition in which consumers choose quality at the right price... the free market will decide. We've seen where China's regulation has gotten them. If their market suffers from lack of confidence it will result in one of two things.... Under a Repub administration it would result in the import of more Chinese goods without enforcing regulatory standards... or China will call in our debt. (All pure conjecture since their markets aren't doing that bad yet.)

The head of China's quality watchdog is reported to have resigned over the tainted baby milk scandal that has killed four children and sickened nearly 53,000 others.

The chemical melamine blamed for causing kidney stones and kidney failure has been detected in formula milk powder from 22 dairies across China.

The raw milk had been watered down and the chemical added to fool quality checks, the newspaper said. Melamine is commonly used in coatings and laminates, wood adhesives, fabric coatings, ceiling tiles and flame retardants.

But anger has been directed not just at the producers accused of adulterating their milk to increase profits, but also at government regulators, Time magazine reported.

Health experts say ingesting melamine can lead to kidney stones, urinary tract ulcers, and eye and skin irritation. It also robs infants of much-needed nutrition.

I think the situation is that much worse when it effects a nation whose population is restricted to one child per family.

This is the same chemical that was put in to the pet food! It is put in there deliberatly because it makes the protein content appear higher.

China is a good example of where we are headed when regulation has a total meltdown. I hope that more and more Americans have had it with unregulated free markets!

As do I... an unregulated market is just a system of mafioso corporations trying to figure out how to work the system to increase their bottom line... paying off officials (lobbyist), paying off scientist (to say global warming doesn't exist), trying to monopolize territories (killing the competition), and of course there's always the sex and drugs (oil companies shed a little light).

Here's some info I received in email on this:

If you missed yesterday's bulletin about
potential melamine contamination in the
US food supply, please go here:

http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/460.html

If you read yesterday's bulletin, I have
assembled a number of sources that verify
everything in that story here:

http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/462.html

Until the FDA comes clean, I recommend
that you advoid:

1. ALL manufactured food products made
in China regardless of what the listed
ingredients state.

2. The products of ANY food manufacturer
regardless of where they are based, in
the US or elsewhere, that will not clearly
state that they do not use powdered milk,
powdered eggs, or other bulk food ingredients
manufactured in China.

In its infinite wisdom, the Bush
administration and the FDA has
made the US the ONLY country on earth
that has not ordered these potentially
tainted products removed from
its shelves.

Milk products manufactured in China
and tainted with melamine, an industrial
chemical, killed and injured thousands
of children this year.

If you live in the US, you need to know
that your government is not protecting you
from these products.

The original story posted yesterday is here:

My additional research is posted here:

P.S. Please pass this along.

Obviously, the FDA and US news media is happy
to let you eat this stuff and couldn't care
less what happens to you.

A parting gift to America from the Bush family
I guess.
