I got up early and hadn't drank my Red Bull yet when I heard someone on the radio from CNN say that America is mostly conservative. Once you get past the coast its all mostly red. He than added that Bill Clinton was able to appeal to people in the south because he marketed himself as a different kind of Democrat.

I honestly can't remember if this was said on NPR or the Bill Press show this morning. But I'm sure someone here will set me straight.

I wanted to post it though, because it has stuck out in my mind all morning.

this kind of goes hand in hand with the lie that America is a Christian nation. America was born of revolution and liberalism and reflects the secular views of its founders. It is not a "Conservative" nation or a Christian one.

The fact that most Americans identify with some form of Christianity doesn't make us a Christian nation and the fact that we are currently run by a Conservative/Corporatist cabal doesn't change our liberal roots and heritage.
