I was kinda mad so I wrote this...September 23, 2008

Dear Congress, Dear Senate:

Bush should be Impeached or at minimum Censored or he will go down in history as not doing anything wrong. Don't give him MORE authority. We need to be sure that no other President ever becomes the tyrant that he and his administration have been. We furthermore need to ensure that when we elect Senators that they have the balls to vote for what is best for the people and not for the corporations. We also need to ensure that when we elect Senators that they stand up to the President when he is emphatically wrong. We need a house speaker and majority leader that will not try to keep his job, but to do his job. We need to be sure that we never again allow NEO-Conservatives to run any branch of the United States.

Nothing about this clan has been fiscally conservative at all. They have spent more money as the head of the government, than any other government. In fact, I believe they are trying to destroy the government from within. They are the elitist. They are against the American People they should be tried for Treason and crimes against the American People for so many reasons. I am not ranting I am just tired of all of you with no back bone that keep going along with everything that these liars keep feeding you. You act like sheep and not leaders. I think that I could do a much better job that the bulk of you... I am quite ashamed of everything you have done in the last 8 years. The only thing that has actually made a difference in my life is the minimum wage raise as that will help someone in my family. That bankruptcy bill, your sorry tax cuts when you need to raise taxes to fix the mess we are in. The bulk spending - and where is the money coming from for this $700 Billion anyway?

Anyone that has children should be concerned about a bail out of $700 billion. That will affect their children and their children’s children. I don’t think people understand exactly how far in the whole we are. We started with a $300 trillion surplus (extra money) we are -$400 + trillion in debt now. There are $9 billion unaccounted for by this administration they claim they can’t find. If that were any of us on our jobs, we would go to prison. Just think…. If you add that up exactly how much money we have now don’t forget how much we spend weekly in Iraq and counting – hum, that is about how much in the red? My numbers may be slightly off, but not that far.

We are in debt by the trillions! If I go to the bank and am in the hole $1, I can't just take out extra money. You are intentionally trying to bankrupt the US Government as a last ditch effort to break the American People and make us dependant upon corporate companies before you leave office. That is why you waited this long to bail out anything. You wanted it to get this bad! Plenty of people have been all over the television advising about this problem for years now and you never did anything until it affected Wall Street well Wall Street should have thought about the American People and you should have too.

If American's can't afford to go to work because gas is too high or if they don't have a place to live because they can't pay their mortgages, WHY would you think that they could spend money with companies, they aren’t hiring American’s anyway they are importing people from foreign countries or shipping jobs overseas? They just can't afford to do anything – can they?, but that is what you wanted anyway.... You wanted America to lose power of the banking system so that the only place we could get money from would be the corporations. You wanted Americans to lose home ownership so that there would be less wealth with the American People. Less wealth for us means more wealth for corporations and those of you in their pockets. Senators Republican and Democrat Stand up or loose your jobs. I will personally lead a national campaign to remove everyone who votes to support BUSH in this maneuver to bankrupt the American People.

I called our representatives to let them know how I felt you should do the same for the place where you live. I posted this on a petition.

Call and tell your members of Congress: Support the Obama principles—put Main Street ahead of Wall Street, and no blank check for Bush.

I wrote this today.....................

Senator McCain;

As I have watched your stump speeches, press appearances, convention lecture and so on, I keep hearing you refer to “My Friends” as you begin almost every sentence. I was wondering, to whom are you speaking? Are you speaking to the auto workers who have seen their job protections dwindle along with real take home wages and outsourced jobs? Are you speaking to the worker at WalMart who has no health insurance and is being paid poverty level wages? Are you speaking to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms but who you have refused to support? Are you speaking to the homeowner who has seen the value of their house plummeting (if they are still lucky enough to still have their home? I could go on and on but I think you get my point.

I know you are not speaking to me. I am quite certain that I’m not your friend. I am fortunate enough to have a job and I am covered by a union and labor law protections. I know you have voted against labor protections as readily as you draw air into your lungs. I live paycheck to paycheck and pray my family doesn’t suffer a devastating medical setback that would thrust us into bankruptcy. I know you are not speaking to me, as you would never invite me or my family to one of your 8 (is it still just 8 or has it increased by now?) homes for a barbecue or a Sunday dinner. We are not at your social level or stature. Compared to you and your uber rich wife, we are mere peasants. I’m most certainly not one of your “middle class” who makes 5 million dollars a year. I could never be, nor would I ever want to be one of your Keating 5 crooks.

Senator McCain, you sir cannot even begin to relate to me, my family or any others like us. You cannot possibly know what it is like to search for loose change in the cushions of your furniture just to find enough money to buy a quart of milk for your kids. You cannot possibly fathom what it is like to work hard, do everything that is expected of you just to go to work and be told your job has been shipped away. You cannot comprehend the humiliation and the empty, gnawing pain in the pit of your stomach having to face your family and tell them you don’t know how you are going to pay the house payment. You Sir, have no idea the stress and worry caused by having a sick child and no health care insurance.

You, Senator McCain have lived a special, sheltered, protected life. You and your wealthy family have been protected by government provided health care, government provided housing, and government provided education for your entire life. As a veteran, I salute your service and respect your ordeal as a POW. But that does not give you a free pass in life. Just like the tragedies that befall many Americans give them no excuse for other actions in their lives.

So please, stop patronizing me. Stop calling me your friend just to try and convince me that you are some friendly old guy who cares about me. I know better. Besides, I don’t want a “friend” in the White House. Our country is in shambles after nearly eight years of having a “buddy you could have a beer with” as president. I want an inspirational leader; A person with a vision to move our country out of this morass of embarrassment and world ridicule which our current leadership felt so comfortable laying at our feet. I want someone who worries more about me and my family and not so much about their rich cronies and lobbyists. I want someone who believes in what they say, and doesn’t just say what they think Americans want to hear, just to get elected. I don’t want a leader who makes decisions base on what will stir up their base in order to get elected. I want someone who makes the best decisions that are in our best interests.

This is not the Military. We only have one country. We don’t have five countries that you can crash along the way. We cannot afford to have the fate of our nation in your cynical hands.

Bob K.

I not only sent an email but also placed a couple of calls to my Senators voicing not just my opposing of this bail out but of holding not just the CEOs of these "bank" accountable, but also the impeachment of both Bush and Cheney. The thing is, as far as I can tell no one, not one taxpayer is saying they are for or even understand this bailout. Everyone on "mainstreet" is completely against it as best as I can tell. And not surprising, our politicians are going through with it. Or so it seems at this point. They are just squabbling over transparency and full disclosures and some kind of aid to those who took out mortgages they could not afford to begin with. In my opinion only doing so because this is an election year and they want to give the appearance of trying to do right by the people. Mostly I am speaking of the Repubs, but some Deomcrats do share in the blame. Majority of the blame does go to Bush and his administration for focusing so much on his war for oil (let's call it what it really is), control of the oil in Iraq, and completely ignoring our domestic front all while destroying our international credibility.

I also contacted my OHIO reps (Pryce puke.gif , Voinivich bs.gif , and Sherrod Brown (D) biggrin.gif )

I also signed Bernie Sanders petition: (heard on Thom Hartmann fridays)

and this petition: http://votenobailout.org/

Excerpt:"We will not stand by and let the Bush Administration formalize its vision of a “government of, by and for the richest bankers.

The new system institutionalizes theft on a grand scale. Lehman Brothers bankers will receive $2.5 billion in bonuses after their company went bankrupt last week, but the new dictatorial authority under the White House and Treasury Department has ruled out any relief for the millions of working families who are being foreclosed."

Done and done.

If you write, then FAX, don't use e-mail or snail mail. They're swamped with e-mail and snail mail goes through a two-week microwaving process to kill the 'thrax.

As always, you can call. You'll talk to a staffer, but s/he will pass it along to the Congresscritter.
