You are only making my point with your diatribe. You and I have very different views of the world. Mine is very simple when I'm not blogging here on RRMB. Every waking moment is not consumed by partisan politics. In my day-to-day acivities, I see a united country. It sounds like you don't. So be it.
So your stance is purely based on a ignorance of existing factors in the world right? If you cannot see something that exist, it still exist. It just means you're unable to do anything about it because you are unaware of its existence. It's kind of like the white person that isn't racist, and believes racism doesn't exist because they don't see it. Ignorance gives the appearance of unification. You can walk around pretending everyone is the same, but we aren't when it comes to goals. The sad part is that a lot of people that fall prey to conservative rhetoric do so due to ignorance and manipulation by political heads. (Of course there are the political heads that do it for greed... and there are the political followers that do it because of a warped [differing] view of the world.)
I might add, what is the point in comparing your experience on the RRMB to life outside? The point is that when you go outside you can ignore partisan politics (not be consumed by it.) It still exist whether you want to see it or not. You can say I don't see One America, but I do. Just like I can see one body with one leg moving one way and the other leg going another, the body cannot move forward unless there is compromise.
Left Leg: I'll stagnate while you progress
Right Leg: My turn.
If you have one leg just saying "my turn my turn..." you're just walking in circles. And if that greedy leg decides it wants to compromise the security and safety [financial or otherwise] of the rest of the body (lets say it has transgressed the immunity of the body by oncological means), then you might have to lop that one part off and just replace it with a new prosthetic (lets call that the new party that replaces Neo-Cons).
Sidenote:
Did you know Con-man is short for Confidence man... because they have to gain your confidence while they steal from you?

You might believe Obama is the better choice. Good for you. I happen to disagree. You can either accept my disagreement or not. I personally don't care one way or the other.
I do believe President Obama is a better choice... I don't accept your disagreement; that's going a little too far. I can tolerate it though. We're all entitled to our own opinions. I can tolerate any ideology that doesn't have an effect on my personal life. I still think you should add a scale to your political leanings (maybe 1-10) to illustrate the level of importance for each issue. If you say you hold all of those beliefs as equally important to the point of an inability to compromise on any of them, then therein lies the rub. If that is the case, you my friend cannot see past your political leanings. Compromise is the central issue of change: it is the only way to cross an aisle. (Or to move forward-- minus amputation.)
