Everything Possible

We have cleared off the table, the leftovers saved,
Washed the dishes and put them away
I have told you a story and tucked you in tight
At the end of your knockabout day
As the moon sets its sails to carry you to sleep
Over the midnight sea
I will sing you a song no one sang to me
May it keep you good company.

You can be anybody you want to be,
You can love whomever you will
You can travel any country where your heart leads
And know I will love you still
You can live by yourself, you can gather friends around,
You can choose one special one
And the only measure of your words and your deeds
Will be the love you leave behind when you're done.

There are girls who grow up strong and bold
There are boys quiet and kind
Some race on ahead, some follow behind
Some go in their own way and time
Some women love women, some men love men
Some raise children, some never do
You can dream all the day never reaching the end
Of everything possible for you.

Don't be rattled by names, by taunts, by games
But seek out spirits true
If you give your friends the best part of yourself
They will give the same back to you.

You can be anybody you want to be,
You can love whomever you will
You can travel any country where your heart leads
And know I will love you still
You can live by yourself, you can gather friends around,
You can choose one special one
And the only measure of your words and your deeds
Will be the love you leave behind when you're done.

Was researching Bambi, and ran into this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GJjUgqMuB8

Well I see trees of green and
Red roses t
oo,
I'll watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself

What a wonderful world

Well I see skies of
blue and I see clouds of white
And the brightness of day
I like the dark and I think
to myself
What a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also
on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying, I...I love you

Somewhere . . . over the rainbow

Way up high
And the dreams that you dreamed of
egghead
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top that's where you'll find me

Oh, Bambi.

Love is a song that never ends
Life may be swift and fleeting
Hope may die yet love's beautiful music
Comes each day like the dawn

Love is a song that never ends
One simple theme repeating
Like the voice of a heavenly choir
Love's sweet music flows on

-- Frank Churchill (music) and Larry Morey (lyrics)

Nice. Bambi was a hit. smile.gif

Beatles too:

The long and winding road that leads to your door,
Will never disappear,
I've seen that road before It always leads me here,
Leads me to your door.

The wild and windy night the rain washed away,
Has left a pool of tears crying for the day.
Why leave me standing here, let me know the way
Many times I've been alone and many times I've cried
Anyway you'll never know the many ways I've tried, but
Still they lead me back to the long and winding road
You left me standing here a long, long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here, lead me to you door
Da, da, da, da

We Can Be Kind

So many things I can't control
So many hurts that happen everyday
So many heartaches that pierce the soul
So much pain that won't ever go away

How do we make it better?
How do we make it through?
What can we do
When there's nothing we can do?

We can be kind
We can take care of each other
We can remember that deep down inside
We all need the same things

And maybe we'll find
If we are there for each other
That together we'll weather
Whatever tomorrow may bring

Nobody really wants to fight
Nobody really wants to go to war
If everyone wants to make things right
What are we always fighting for?

Does nobody want to see it?
Does nobody understand?
The power to heal
Is right here in our hand

We can be kind
We can take care of each other
We can remember that deep down inside
We all need the same things

And maybe we'll find
If we are there for each other
That together we'll weather
Whatever tomorrow may bring

And it's not enough to talk about it
Not enough to sing a song
We must walk the walk about it
You and I, do or die, we've got to try to get along

We can be kind
We can take care of each other
We can remember that deep down inside
We all need the same things

And maybe we'll find
If we are there for each other
That together we'll weather
Whatever tomorrow may bring

And maybe we'll find
True peace of mind
If we always remember
We can be kind

Put Your Records On

Three little birds, sat on my window.
And they told me I don't need to worry.
Summer came like cinnamon
So sweet,
Little girls double-dutch on the concrete.

Maybe sometimes, we've got it wrong, but it's alright
The more things seem to change, the more they stay the same
Oh, don't you hesitate.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

Blue as the sky, sunburnt and lonely,
Sipping tea in the bar by the roadside,
(just relax, just relax)
Don't you let those other boys fool you,
Got to love that afro hair do.

Maybe sometimes, we feel afraid, but it's alright
The more you stay the same, the more they seem to change.
Don't you think it's strange?

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

'Twas more than I could take, pity for pity's sake
Some nights kept me awake, I thought that I was stronger
When you gonna realise, that you don't even have to try any longer?
Do what you want to.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

Oh, you're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow

Sung by Rufus Wainwright wub.gif
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7D9IfHbzNtw

The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows, who knows where
Who knows when
But I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

So on we go
Her welfare is my concern
No burden is she to bear
We'll get there
For I know
She would not encumber me
She ain't heavy she's my sister

If I'm laden at all
I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart
Isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another.

It's a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we're on the way to there
Why not share
And the load
Doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
She's my sister
She ain't heavy
He's my brother
He ain't heavy

I sometimes get caught up in cynicism, sadness, and whatever follows after that, but I made myself listen to this old song, and it softens me a bit. To my brothers and sisters at the RRMB.

There's the stillness of death on a deathly unliving sea,
and the motor car magical world long since ceased to be,
when the Eve-bitten apple returned to destroy the tree.

Incestuous ancestry's charabanc ride,
spawning new millions throws the world on its side.
Supporting their far-flung illusion, the national curse,
and those with no sandwiches please get off the bus.

The excrement bubbles,
the century's slime decays
and the brainwashing government lackeys
would have us say
it's under control and we'll soon be on our way
to a grand year for babies and quiz panel games
of the hot hungry millions you'll be sure to remain.

The natural resources are dwindling and no one grows old,
and those with no homes to go to, please dig yourself holes.

We wandered through quiet lands, felt the first breath of snow.
Searched for the last pigeon, slate grey I've been told.
Stumbled on a daffodil which she crushed in the rush, heard it sigh,
and left it to die.
At once felt remorse and were touched by the loss of our own,
held its poor broken head in her hands,
dropped soft tears in the snow,
and it's only the taking that makes you what you are.

Wond'ring aloud will a son one day be born
to share in our infancy
in the child's path we've worn.
In the aging seclusion of this earth that our birth did surprise
we'll open his eyes.

O Superman
O Superman. O judge. O Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad.
O Superman. O judge. O Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad.
Hi. I'm not home right now. But if you want to leave a
message, just start talking at the sound of the tone.
Hello? This is your Mother. Are you there? Are you coming home?
Hello? Is anybody home? Well, you don't know me,
but I know you.
And I've got a message to give to you.
Here come the planes.
So you better get ready. Ready to go.
You can come as you are, but pay as you go. Pay as you go.
And I said: OK. Who is this really? And the voice said:
This is the hand, the hand that takes. This is the
hand, the hand that takes.
This is the hand, the hand that takes.
Here come the planes.
They're American planes. Made in America.
Smoking or non-smoking?
And the voice said: Neither snow nor rain nor gloom
of night shall stay these couriers from the swift
completion of their appointed rounds.

'Cause when love is gone, there's always justice.
And when justice is gone, there's always force.
And when force is gone, there's always Mom. Hi Mom!

So hold me, Mom, in your long arms. So hold me,
Mom, in your long arms.
In your automatic arms. Your electronic arms.
In your arms.
So hold me, Mom, in your long arms.
Your petrochemical arms. Your military arms.
In your electronic arms.

Sorry about that not it savvy here are the lyrics I want to sharChorus]
I got to go back to the world
Back to my girl
Back to my family and kids
Have to go and see my home again
Don't want my life to end
Before my time is due

Just got the postal package from my wife and kids
It brings me comfort while I'm stuck in this desert mess
But don't get me wrong, perform my mission
Just sounding off on my homesick condition
Got to get out, a short timer, my heart it begs for home

[Chorus]

Seen many a firefight since we deployed out here
Learned how to survive with my friends
They're focus, adrenaline and fear
But the odds haunt me, hope I don't get hit
Be that body with a flag adorned to it
I'm gonna make it, the short timer, hellbent on going home

[Chorus]

I'm not a policy maker
Just a sworn-in order taker
Doing my best to stay alive
I'm gonna make it
To conus real soon
Hope some days still lie ahead for me

[Chorus]

I've gotta go back
Too short to turn back
Gotta go back
Back to the world again

Cinderella:
Mother cannot guide you.
Now you're on your own.
Only me beside you.
Still, you're not alone.
No one is alone. Truly.
No one is alone.
Sometimes people leave you.
Halfway through the wood.
Others may decieve you.
You decide whats good.
You decide alone.
But no one is alone.
Little Red Riding Hood:
I wish..
Cinderella:
I know.
Mother isn't here now
Baker:
Wrong things, right things
Cinderella:
Who knows what she'd say?
Baker:
Who can say what's true?
Cinderella:
Nothings quite so clear now.
Baker:
Do things, fight things,
Cinderella:
Feel you've lost your way?
Baker:
You decide, but
Both:
You are not alone
Cinderella:
Believe me,
No one is alone
Baker:
No one is alone.
Believe me.
Cinderella:
Truly
Both:
You move just a finger,
Say the slightest word,
Somethings bound to linger
Be heard
Baker:
No acts alone.
Careful.
No one is alone.
Both:
People make mistakes.
Baker:
Fathers,
Cinderella:
Mothers,
Both:
People make mistakes,
Holding to their own,
Thinking they're alone.
Cinderella:
Honor their mistakes
Everybody makes
Baker:
Fight for their mistakes
Both:
One another's terrible mistakes.
Witches can be right, Giants can be good.
You decide what's right you decide what's good
Cinderella:
Just remember:
Baker:
Just remember:
Both:
Someone is on your side
Jack, LRRH:
OUR side
Baker, Cinderella:
Our side--
Someone else is not
While we're seeing our side
Jack, LRRH:
Our side..
Baker, Cinderella:
Our side--
All:
Maybe we forgot: they are not alone.
No one is alone.
Cinderella:
Hard to see the light now.
Baker:
Just don't let it go
Both:
Things will come out right now.
We can make it so.
Someone is on your side--

I will fight no more FOREVER. - Chief Joseph

In the treaty councils the commissioners have claimed that our country had been sold to the Government. Suppose a white man should come to me and say, 'Joseph, I like your horses, and I want to buy them.' I say to him, 'No, my horses suit me, I will not sell them.' Then he goes to my neighbor, and says to him: 'Joseph has some good horses. I want to buy them, but he refuses to sell.' My neighbor answers, 'Pay me the money, and I will sell you Joseph's horses.' The white man returns to me and says, 'Joseph, I have bought your horses, and you must let me have them.' If we sold our lands to the Government, this is the way they were bought. -Chief Joseph

I know that my race must change. We cannot hold our own with the white men as we are. We only ask an even chance to live as other men live. We ask to be recognized as men. We ask that the same law shall work alike on all men. If an Indian breaks the law, punish him by the law. If a white man breaks the law, punish him also. - Chief Joseph

Let me be a free man, free to travel, free to stop, free to work, free to trade where I choose, free to choose my own teachers, free to follow the religion of my fathers, free to talk, think and act for myself — and I will obey every law or submit to the penalty. - Chief Joseph

We do not want churches because they will teach us to quarrel about God, as the Catholics and Protestants do. We do not to learn that. We may quarrel with men about things on earth, but we never quarrel about the Great Spirit. - Chief Joseph

I believe much trouble and blood would be saved if we opened our hearts more. I will tell you in my way how the Indian sees things. The white man has more words to tell you how they look to him, but it does not require many words to speak the truth. Chief Joseph

it does not require many words to speak the truth. Chief Joseph and Randi Rhodes

Great words--may we all learn to live by them.

Added thought: sometimes, however it takes many words to get attention to your point. Could that be why I write so endlessly about the Elsa Newman story? Maybe. Not many people seem to listen.

Elsa says the reason is that it hurts too much to believe what she says.

I try to post the lyrics of songs and/or poems that really move me.
X-Ray-Spex

Johnny's in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
I'm on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he's got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again
You better duck down the alley way
Lookin' for a new friend
The man in the coon-skin cap
In the big pen
Wants eleven dollar bills
You only got ten

Maggie comes fleet foot
Face full of black soot
Talkin' that the heat put
Plants in the bed but
The phone's tapped anyway
Maggie says that many say
They must bust in early May
Orders from the D. A.
Look out kid
Don't matter what you did
Walk on your tip toes
Don't try "No Doz"
Better stay away from those
That carry around a fire hose
Keep a clean nose
Watch the plain clothes
You don't need a weather man
To know which way the wind blows

Get sick, get well
Hang around a ink well
Ring bell, hard to tell
If anything is goin' to sell
Try hard, get barred
Get back, write braille
Get jailed, jump bail
Join the army, if you fail
Look out kid
You're gonna get hit
But users, cheaters
Six-time losers
Hang around the theaters
Girl by the whirlpool
Lookin' for a new fool
Don't follow leaders
Watch the parkin' meters

Ah get born, keep warm
Short pants, romance, learn to dance
Get dressed, get blessed
Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
Don't steal, don't lift
Twenty years of schoolin'
And they put you on the day shift
Look out kid
They keep it all hid
Better jump down a manhole
Light yourself a candle
Don't wear sandals
Try to avoid the scandals
Don't wanna be a bum
You better chew gum
The pump don't work
'Cause the vandals took the handles

Subterranean Homesick Blues,

[FATHER]

Where have I been?

How did we change,

Caught in this strange

New music?

Say,

Was I away too long?

[MOTHER]

Just like that tune,

Simple and clear,

I've come to hear

New music.

[FATHER]

New music.

[MOTHER}

Why,

Why can't you hear the song?

[YOUNGER BROTHER]

His fingers stoke those keys,

And every note says 'Please',

And every chord says 'Turn my way.'

[MOTHER, FATHER]

I thought I knew

What love was but these lovers play...

[MOTHER, FATHER, YOUNGER BROTHER]

New music!

Haunting me,

And somehow taunting me-

My love was never half as true.

[FATHER]

And I ask myself,

Why can't I sing it too?

[WORKERS, NEIGHBORS]

His fingers stoke those keys,

And every note says 'Please',

And every chord says 'Turn my way.'

[WORKERS, NEIGHBORS, FAMILY]

I thought I knew

What love was

but these lovers play

New music!

[ALL]

Haunting me,

And somehow taunting me-

My love was

Never half as true.

[COALHOUSE]

Sarah, my life has changed.

Sarah, you've got to see.

Sarah, we got a son!

Sarah, come down to me...

[SARAH]

You and your music

Singing deep in me,

Making nice to me,

Saying something so new-

[COALHOUSE]

New

[SARAH]

Changing everything,

Meaning everything,

[COALHOUSE]

Music

[SARAH]

Calling my heart to you...

[COALHOUSE]

All for you, girl.

You, Sarah.

[SARAH]

Play that melody,

Your sweet melody,

Calling my heart to you.

[COALHOUSE]

You.

[ALL (except Coalhouse & Sarah)]

Just like that tune,

Simple and clear,

I've come to hear

New music-

Breaking my heart,

Op'ning a door,

Changing the world!

New music!

I'll

Hear it forever more!

Call of the Wild - Alan Parsons Project

Well Ive talked to the wind and I've listened to rain
I have climbed to the clouds and I''ve cried out with pain
This life is for living so come to my side
And open your heart to the call of the wild

We are all of one nation, all of one creed
We are all out of nature, all of one seed
We are in this together, man, woman and child
So open your heart to the call of the wild

We talk the same language in different tongues
We're somebody's daughters and somebody's sons
But those who believe we are head of the chain
May wake up to find we are all that remain

There is no need to fear what we don't understand
For we breathe the same air and we walk the same land
The strong and the anxious, the meek and the mild
All dance to the drum that's the call of the wild

Here's another Alan Parsons Project gem:

The Alan Parsons Project, "Old and Wise"

As far as my eyes can see
There are shadows approaching me
And to those I left behind
I wanted you to know
You've always shared my deepest thoughts
You follow where I go

And oh... when I'm old and wise
Bitter words mean little to me
Autumn winds will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they asked me if I knew you
I'd smile and say you were a friend of mine
And the sadness would be lifted from my eyes
Oh when I'm old and wise

As far as my eyes can see
There are shadows surrounding me
And to those I leave behind
I want you all to know
You've always shared my darkest hours
I'll miss you when I go

And oh... when I'm old and wise
Heavy words that tossed and blew me
Like autumn winds that will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a frined of mine
As the final curtain falls before my eyes
Oh when I'm old and wise

As far as my eyes can see

Change - by Tracy Chapman

If you knew that you would die today,
Saw the face of god and love,
Would you change?
Would you change?

If you knew that love can break your heart
When you're down so low you cannot fall
Would you change?
Would you change?

How bad, how good does it need to get?
How many losses? How much regret?
What chain reaction would cause an effect?
Makes you turn around,
Makes you try to explain,
Makes you forgive and forget,
Makes you change?

Makes you change?

If you knew that you would be alone,
Knowing right, being wrong,
Would you change?
Would you change?

If you knew that you would find a truth
That brings up pain that can't be soothed
Would you change?
Would you change?

How bad, how good does it need to get?
How many losses? How much regret?
What chain reaction would cause an effect?
Makes you turn around,
Makes you try to explain,
Makes you forgive and forget,
Makes you change?
Makes you change?

Are you so upright you can't be bent?
If it comes to blows are you so sure you won't be crawling?
If not for the good, why risk falling?
Why risk falling?

If everything you think you know,
Makes your life unbearable,
Would you change?
Would you change?

If you'd broken every rule and vow,
And hard times come to bring you down,
Would you change?
Would you change?

If you knew that you would die today,
If you saw the face of God and love,
Would you change?
Would you change?
Would you change?
Would you change?

If you saw the face of God and love
If you saw the face of God and love
Would you change?
Would you change?

Jackson Browne - Looking Into You

Well I looked into a house I once lived in
Around the time I first went on my own
When the roads were as many as the places I had dreamed of
And my friends and I were one
Now the distance is done and the search has begun
Ive come to see where my beginnings have gone

Oh the walls and the windows were still standing
And the music could be heard at the door
Where the people who kindly endured my odd questions
Asked if I came very far
And when my silence replied they took me inside
Where their children sat playing on the floor

Well we spoke of the changes that would find us farther on
And it left me so warm and so high
But as I stepped back outside to the grey morning sun
I heard that highway whisper and sigh
Are you ready to fly?

And I looked into the faces all passing by
Its an ocean that will never be filled
And the house that grows older and finally crumbles
That even love cannot rebuild
Its a hotel at best, youre here as a guest
You oughta make yourself at home while youre waiting for the rest

Well I looked into dream of the millions
That one day the search will be through
Now here I stand at the edge of my embattled illusions
Looking into you

The great song traveler passed through here
And he opened my eyes to the view
And I was among those who called him a prophet
And I asked him what was true
Until the distance had shown how the road remains alone
Now Im looking in my life for a truth that is my own

Well I looked into the sky for my anthem
And the words and the music came through
But words and music can never touch the beauty that Ive seen
Looking into you -- and thats true

We had an apartment in the city,
Me and Loretta liked living there.
Well, it'd been years since the kids had grown,
A life of their own left us alone.
John and Linda live in Omaha,
And Joe is somewhere on the road.
We lost Davy in the Korean war,
And I still don't know what for, don't matter anymore.

Ya' know that old trees just grow stronger,
And old rivers grow wilder ev'ry day.
Old people just grow lonesome
Waiting for someone to say, "Hello in there, hello."

Me and Loretta, we don't talk much more,
She sits and stares through the back door screen.
And all the news just repeats itself
Like some forgotten dream that we've both seen.
Someday I'll go and call up Rudy,
We worked together at the factory.
But what could I say if asks "What's new?"
"Nothing, what's with you? Nothing much to do."

Ya' know that old trees just grow stronger,
And old rivers grow wilder ev'ry day.
Old people just grow lonesome
Waiting for someone to say, "Hello in there, hello."

So if you're walking down the street sometime
And spot some hollow ancient eyes,
Please don't just pass 'em by and stare
As if you didn't care, say, "Hello in there, hello."

Memo to G-ddess:

My heart is heavy. I learned this morning, that different sides of an argument might have a different set of dictionaries!! They were talking about the abortion issue. Right to lifers, versus the ones who say we have a right to our own bodies.

Of course, a lot more rhetoric follows after that, as you well know, and it gets tangled. At first glance the right to lifer phrase sounds wholesome doesn't it? But we all know the right to lifer in all their sanctimoan ( word comes from sanctimonius) could give a crap about little babies after they are brought into this HAPPY-FACE WORLD OF THEIRS.

Anyway, to my original point: definitions and/or the language are being twisted all over the place - not just on this subject. I would list other examples, but I am wary with all this upside down, twisted stuff. (Some say these are Orwellian tricks.)

When I get this way I imagine Sophie's song, "Swing from Limb to Limb" and I travel through time. How about just a "look" from the one you love. That is part of nature and loving.

So, we still have that tired old debate about where we come from. It lingers. Did we descend from the apes? Or did we just appear in the Garden of Eden? Of course I go with the science. But since then, the monkey face has been put on my friends in order to demean them and of course the perpetrator feels almighty, godlike and supreme. This is their way of denying Darwin and/or the science that folllows and continuing to use their good book for back-up, so they can still claim they are holy.

I listen to Swing from Limb to Limb with freedom in my heart and know full well that no one has ever experienced this or seen this (in movies or wherever else). To be free and away from all the ugly for those moments and just dream without thinking of the separate dictionary they assign themselves in order to hurt US --- and just be one with nature.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Joseph Campbell: It's a very grim thing to be a modern human being. The drudgery of the lives of most of the people that have to support families - well, it's a life-extinguishing affair.
How to get back in touch with nature?
It's like the hereo's dark descent into the belly of the whale or finally slaying the dragon. When one has endured that terrifying night-sea journey or killed their own dragon and tasted the blood, one hears the song of nature, and has transcended their humanity and reassociated oneself with the powers of nature, which are the powers of our life, and from which our minds remove us.
Moyers asked: . . .. these stories of heroes could become sort of a tranquilizer, invoking in us the benign passivity of watching instead of acting. And the other side of it is that our world seems drained of spiritual values. People feel impotent. To me, that's the curse of modern society, the impotence, the ennui that people feel, the alienation of people from the world order around them. Maybe we need some hero who will give voice to our deeper longing.
