Why not Obama? I speculate that the installment plan proposed by some is a stall tactic until Obama becomes president and real FBI investigations begin?

Please put me in the land of reality on this. I know we have some putrid Dems.

I don't want this either, btw, but what to do when nobody is listening to the American People?

Strange, in the White House meeting, Steny the Hoyer said McCain did not offer which side he was on.

Sounds like another trap we can't fall for. Esp listening to Bennet on CNN. Where were these cons when constitution was being shredded?

As Frank said the Pres, Bernanke, etc are saying the economy will collapse if there is no deal; better believe they'll let it happen if they don't get what they want. THEY won't get hurt with their millions already stashed away either way.

If Obama and Dems can get middle class relief and we start getting oversight it's a step forward.

I believe it's a trap too. Brent is explaining it now. Good. I think installment plan can stall them, if they have to do this.

This is scare mongering. Why not nationalize the Fed?

I won't - I have awesome faith in Obama, believe me. I just have to ask these questions in this quagmire.

And I know he's pragmatic and always thinking on his feet, while McCain is totally shattered and flailing like a dead fish.

Soooo,

If a company goes bankrupt you liquidate and end it's existance.

If a COUNTRY goes bankrupt?

You LIQUIDATE IT AND BEGIN A NEW NATION.

Any names come to mind?

We can form a new nation OF THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE.

And write a NEW CONSTITUTION.

One good thing out of the CNN clips this morning. King was caught when he interviewed a rancher for reaction and rancher told him we should go back to FDR when the only thing to fear is fear itself!...straight out of Hartman...told him point blank this was fear mongering...I thought King's head was gonna explode! laugh.gif

Oh, there's been some great exploding moments on the tv. That's for sure. I liked John Tester, the dirt farmer staring down Paulson with some good wholesome common sense earlier this week. That was great tv for me.

Also, remember? When one of the Senators asked Paulson in the very first hearing. What about 150K? And Paulson said NO. That was a big deal and a give a way of the hand he was trying to hold. The bastard wanted the trillion and nothing else? Yeah, right. How'd ja come up with that number dude.

This is Randi's best show ever. She's covered everything today and funny tooo!!!! We're going to win Randi.

To me the bottom line is the neo-Cons want to say it was the "little guy's" fault and the "little guy" has to pay and by the way the government let it happen.

No context of Iraq war, speculation or the fact bad loans aren't just Fannie Mae and minorities.

Exactly. Then there are the Shelby types.

And one more thing that has been on my mind all day. And I'm serious. I hope Obama did not drink anything while at the White HOuse. (Yes, you can call me paranoid.)

On Hartman Christy I believe reported that someone on Paulson's staff was asked how they reached the $7 bil figure and they answered they needed a "really big number". No complex formula or anything like that!

Gotta find that quote and paste it everywhere.

Hartman noted that the $7 bil comes out to the amount of Social security and other domestic programs. Coinkidink?

Well actually i thought it was bizarre that Bush invited him there too. When that came out as breaking news last night on MSNBC. I was kinda thinking that Barack shouldn't go. lol Did anybody see him talking on CNN this morning, he was reading off a teleprompter and it seemed like they were making the teleprompter slow to screw with him or something. I was like, huh, Barack doesn't pause like this...

Well, Obama as president can then do the right thing. And he will. This is all speculation. Who knows what will happen tonight or tomorrow. Especially with a loose shattering cannon like McCain floating around.

They say McCain was strangely quiet throughout the whole session at the White HOuse.

Don't need to; as Randi said there are lots of ways to get the "crisis" solved but still gotta deal w/ Presi-dunce.

They will keep the funds from flowing to homeowners and government though until we drown. Like Norquist I believe said they (neo-Cons) want to get government down to size where they can drown it in a bathtub. They don' mind us drowning along w/ it.

The way they were talking they sounded negative for some reason and I was like what? How is that negative if Obama gets control of the money? Maybe I just misread it though.

I heard that McCain was being disruptive actually.

I had similar eerie vision of doors closing behind Obama, Bush and McCain like a horror movie!

Even with all we've been warned who would have thought we are actually at this point? Not paranoid esp w/ domestic Army maneuvers; it'll be a big sigh of relief once Obama gets in!

I think Obama needs to pick a position and just go for it .... either stick with his current stance that the "bailout" is needed and simply say "I'd rather lose an election than lose the country"; or come up with a reason why they can't go ahead anymore (maybe because the Republicans are playing politics and the Dems can't get the bill through without support from the Reps and the President) and say that until the Republicans can get onside with a plan then the bail out is off.

AlwaysaLiberal
Just stall it. They don't need to pass the damn bill. They should just do what Brent suggested and only pass 1/3 now. However, Obama does need to assure people that the sky isn't falling, even though I don't think many people thought it was. Did anyone hear or see anybody freaking out about it today because I sure didn't. No one even cares about what Bush says anymore. I don't know what they thought they were accomplishing by bringing him out...

What the Dems are saying is that the sky ALREADY FELL on middle class with Bush and Republican policies.

I don't know if you can tell in your neck of the woods but EVERYTHING is at a standstill economically and all we had was housing.

It is going to get worse and giving $700 billion away to those that made it happen with no strings is attached is the point. Something has to be done and Bush isn't gong to become rational all of a sudden and do something along the lines of what Randi is saying.

Yes it is a trap.

Stall them with installments, (in one million dollar installments)
and YES nationalize the Fed, with Congressional and governor's oversight.

Obama sees what 'they' (neofascists) are doing, and so do we.

The Congress should not pass anything until Obama gets in, and that is final...

Well done!! I've been caught in credit crunch right now my wife is driving our "new: 2006 Sedona van first payment due very soon only problem is no bank has taken the papaer. One offered to go $2,000 less then sale price so just where do we sned the payment? Problem would be lot smaller if we still made stuff as amjor sector of economy but no we make money by moving money around sheeesh one giant Ponzi scheme. I did like Hartman suggesting we reimpose taxes for stock trans actions at a rate so low that small traders wouldn't notice but the big guys at say 12-25cents per $100.00 in value each side would help pay for this damn bailout. If this is a 'rescue' it's the kind you have when seven people with one life jacket climb on to a paddle boat and try to run rapids. Yeah that was confusing...bit of a rant. I think Dems did what they had to do; not give the neo-Con Repugs a blank check. The conservatives (finally standing up to neo-Cons to save their political hides) now are trying to sabotage the thing and progressives possibly falling for it...those that say no deal at all. Conservatives are saying let the market do it's work even though there is a REAL crisis when it comes to the working class right now. The neo-Cons are saying the crisis is only on Wall St give US the money and keep govt out. So Dems and progressives should be in the middle to solve the REAL crisis. It's confusing as they said on Lehrer report - 3 D chess.

Well the answer is who is confusing and blurring all this. First of all W. just f'ing lies his ass off 24/7. He gives a pack of lies speech to the nation that no one can really watch, while House Republicans are trying to save their political lives by looking like they are not part of this latest Bush heist.

OH MY GOD!!! I've just had the best idea!

This thread just reminded me that there are approximately $8 billion somewhere in Iraq in hermetically sealed pallets. Make them use that first if they can find it--kind of like an Easter Egg Hunt. Ready--set--GO!

THEN, remember in April when northwestern Illinois, southwestern Wisconsin and half of Iowa were underwater? Remember when the Shrub said he couldn't release relief funds because we had to "wait and see what crises were coming up in the future"? Taa-daa! Those states obviously didn't get any funding, and Texas isn't seeing any relief either, so, JACKPOT!

That has to be at least $10-12 billion to jump start the recovery effort.

I'm a genius! I should be VPOTUS!!!
