National Enquirer is continuing its foray into politicians' personal lives this election season. Less than two months after the magazine's investigation forced John Edwards to admit an extramarital affair with Rielle Hunter, the Enquirer has identified what it calls "Sarah Palin's Other Man" — Todd Palin's former business partner, Brad Hanson.

According to the Enquirer, the identity of Palin's extramarital lover was confirmed by "no less than three members of the man's family including one by sworn affidavit."

One Hanson family insider, Jim Burdett, passed a "rigorous polygraph test," and went on the record telling the Enquirer, "I've known about Brad having had an affair for a long time, but it wasn't until just recently that I learned his affair was with Sarah Palin."

Another insider, who preferred to remain anonymous but provided the Enquirer with a sworn affidavit attesting to the affair, said, "Todd was away on business a lot and Sarah felt lonely. Brad was a good listener, and Sarah talked to him at length. Eventually, she real­ized she was falling in love with him."

The Enquirer has also taken credit for the announcement that Bristol Palin is pregnant, claiming that it was "triggered" by the fact that the magazine was about to break the news.

Just for the record: As a progressive, I don't give a good goddamn whether Sarah Palin had an affair or not and do wish you liberals would leave shit like that alone. Look, you're doing Murka great harm by having hissy fits over this Puritanical malarky. Most people have affairs. Get over it, please and, please try to refain from further inculcating Murka with reminders of its Puritanical heritage.

You can beat Palin on the basis that she is unqualified to be VP. Her sex life, like that of everyone else, should not be political fodder unless what she (or anyone else) is said to have done sexually is illegal. All else is just puritanical rant.

What I don't like are double standards.

When John Edwards admitted that he had had an affair, everybody just seemed to assume that the revelation, even though he and his wife had moved past it, ended his political career. Nobody, for example, even gave a thought to the possibility of his becoming the VP.

But now the same publication that outed John Edwards outs Sarah Palin for doing the same thing under somewhat less pressure from circumstances and people are saying: "Don't talk about it! It's beneath you to talk about it." And nobody even bothers to confront Sarah Palin about it.

Why are sexual indiscretions political suicide for Democrats and irrelevant for Republicans?

To the person that was all ashock and indignant over discussing this:

Where were you 10 years ago? Where are the letters you wrote then to your congressperson about an impeachment over an affair with such outrage? Please, let us know.

I suggest that Todd get some DNA comparison from the kids. They should know who their really daddy is.

My take on this is that Palin is a big supporter of "abstinence only" sex education. Not only does she have a pregnant teen aged daughter staring her in the face and proving that "abstinence only" doesn't work, but she, herself, couldn't remain faithful to her husband. If she can't control herself enough to avoid adultery, how can she expect impulsive teenagers to control themselves?

The problem that this story enhances is that the woman doesn't seem to be able to connect the dots.

Except those dots that go from Alaska to Russia.

I think it's because Democrats dislike hypocrisy and Republicans don't know what that means.

With 35 days before the election, The National Enquirer's cover story is on Palin's Extramarital Affair, and The Globe has focused on "Cover Up Exposed! McCain Wife Hooked On Drugs".

We don't need no stinkin' Rove or Swiftboaters, the tabloids are doing the work! And I'm guessing that the trash mags are much more effective in reaching those "low information" voters.

The enquirer has a larger readership than the New York Times.

The enquirer was proven right time and time again for digging into things the MSM refused to look into.

This is much larger than you would think and will have a larger impact than you could imagine, this is the one thing I have been keeping my eye on since she was announced as Veep candidate. Once I heard they were up there I could only imagine what it was they were going to dig up.

Ambition is a drug, and she is a junky. A person like that deals with her own needs above anyone elses, otherwise they would not succeed. But this also means that in a purely narcissistic drive she cares little about the consequences of her actions if they remain out of public eye.

This has little to do with hypocricy, this is about character, and she will be found wanting in this regard. The people that read the Enquirer are not the folks who visit this site, but they are the folks that if on the fence, will hop over to the Dems.

No one encouraged this from coming out, but again no one should dismiss this. Any advantage not taken when handed to you on a silver platter that leaves your own hands clean should be happily accepted.

Thats my take on this, I think this is going to be bigger than most folks think.

But THEY IMPEACHED OUR PRESIDENT for lying about sex, they dug deep into his personal life with Paula Jones, et all.....I say, at this time "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth"....if they can do it, why can't we? Sorry, it's OUR turn now! I know 2 wrongs don't make a right, but if they want to throw dirt, we have to be able to throw it right back.....(am I bitter? NAH!)
