She keeps popping to mind, because she was caught in the nightmare of single payer health insurance, disabled from job, so was involved in disability rip-off? Wonder how many more out there who are drowning in debt because of poor healthcare response in this country and they are as the commerical says on the tv: LACK OF HEALTH INS. causes us to live sicker, die younger.
And Bush is screaming and fear mongering about Wall Street cry babies losing out on taxpayer funded bailouts.
Are you sure you know what you're talking about? Single Payer Health Care described as a "nightmare"? Are you kidding? It's what we need. Imagine if we had Single Payer College for those with the grades? Then the nation could educate our talent without putting them in debt.
Likewise with single payer medicine we could provide medical care to everyone without putting them in debt.
Why is it okay to bail the rich and not the workers?
Ther term "single payer" means the entire nation supports a program so that providers (of education; or of medical care) get paid from a SINGLE SOURCE: The U.S. Govt.
This would solve a lot of problems.
Did you know? That firefighters and police departments and the military itself are paid from a single pool of money? You don't have to pay a bill for THEIR services. Why not the doctor or the college?
Since when did we fork colleges over to the for profit folks? DID YOU KNOW that the junior colleges of this nation were build by communities (hence the "community college" name) so that poor people could go to college for FREE? Single payer 2 year colleges USED TO EXIST in the 1960's and 1970's.
Reagan killed them. Reagan killed the single payer county health system we USED to have in place across America too. You USED to be able to get FREE health care in every single county in the USA at the County health Deptartment, including eyeglasses and dental. Now you can't.
I am well aware of what it costs to be disabled. After I went into debt for my college education, I was able to work only 5 years, which was not long enough to pay off the debt. Prior to that event I worked 25 years as a non college graduate, full time and with children too.
When I became disabled, I was suddenly broke, crippled with debt, and became homeless. It took me 10 years to get back into a home of my own and I did it by paying my bills even though I was homeless, I kept protecting my creditworthiness. I never missed a payment. I waited 6 years for my disabilty and the entire award went to the insurance company to pay the medical bills I ran up.
My parents died and my inheritance went to pay off my debts. So I am broke and living in a small country house away from any city where it costs more to live. I drive 100 miles to go to the doctor (at $4 a gallon) and I pay $1200.00 a month for insurance and pharmacy... that does NOT include the $196 a month I pay for medicare insurance. I am disabled, unable to work.
It's horriffic and unfair and it has made me wonder what the *F* is wrong with this country?
I guess America doesn't exist. We are all just a pack of selfish dog eat dog people who don't care about anyone but ourselves? It's the republican way.
