Interesting novel. Suicide bombers target Presidential candidates. Then the administration claims the election must be suspended until it is safe for new candidates to campaign. A Senator who dares suggest all is not as it seems is denounced by the Vice President as a mentally ill traitor. The theme of the book is that the US Republic will reach a point of no return if the Executive Branch gets to determine if and when elections should be held.

Good escapist fiction. No real life parallels here I'm afraid.
