I think this is what the guy on after the 3:30 EDT break is talking about:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/30/t...c_n_130453.html

It is a week-old story and at least references to Brokaw's bias have been discussed here before.

I have done my own research, Brokaw is up McCains ass.

Brokejaw is still a shill IMO. He is up to his neck in the repig party, if he wasn't then why didn't he come to the defense of Sam Donaldson? No he sat there silent. Donaldson has way more credibility than Brokejaw ever will.

even when their not "in the tank for" McCain the MSM is so well conditioned not to question or criticize the right for fear of being accused of liberal bias. You can rehab an abused dog but it will cower when you raise your hand for the rest of its life.

Brokaw's point about Olbermann and Matthews as anchors was absolutely right. By the same token, I believe the vast majority of Olbermann's points about McCain/Palin have been absolutely right.

I'm sorry people appear to believe the two are mutually exclusive. It's just further testimony as to the public's complete and utter misunderstanding of journalism, and the poor state of journalism today.

If Brokaw as a liaison with the McCain campaign is improper, then an Obama administration talking with Iran is treasonous.

A leftwing version of FOX News is not "better" than Fox News.

Damn, you've been sipping the right wing kool aid.

Would you like to explain yourself?

I agree with you. We should have non biased news. But since they have a fox channel, we should have our MSNBC, which we don't really have anyway. It's just Olbermann and Maddow on at night that are really liberal.

I don't consider Matthews liberal. I think he's the closest thing to unbiased we have right now. He's basically a centrist a little left leaning.

Bushwa--I have to send you links, really? You can't see the bias? As a journalist, you can't see that if he get's tough he loses access? That to me means he will cater to is BS in order to retain access, I call that bias. I thought you were a journalist in search of the truth. At least that's how I was taught, by Andy Shaw, my guest professor in college.

Not only that, Tom will probably let McCain finish all sentences and talk for as long as he wants, but cut Obama off and say we are out of time or we have to go to this next questions. He will also ask Obama condemning questions but McCain.

If does this, we need to all write into, letters@msnbc.com, and complain as much as possible. Even send complaints to the other networks to let them know how we feel as well, cnn.com/feedback and to Keith at, firstperson@msnbc.com and to rachel at, rachelmaddow@msnbc.com.

Tom is nothing but a McCain ass-kisser. I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but, BOY do I miss Tim Russert, the only real Democratic Anchor other than Rachel and Keith.

this is real close to the rule violaton of calling him a republican...members can disagree without being accused of sipping the right wing kool aid

p.s. before any confusion erupts, I am not offering an opinion, and I am not interested in a discussion about this...this is my version of an in thread friendly warning...

Why is it when the entire United States and the world was being lied to, that we did not hear about the right wing smear campaign? Now that the truth comes out, it's a left wing smear campaign, let's have some more left wing smear then. Smear me with the truth and set me free.

But less widely known is that Mr. Brokaw has also played a pivotal role out of public view, both within NBC and in its dealings with the campaign of John McCain in particular.

In an interview here after Sunday’s broadcast, Mr. Brokaw said that over the summer he had “advocated” within the executive suite of NBC News to modify the anchor duties of the MSNBC hosts Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews on election night and on nights when there were presidential debates. Their expressions of strong political opinions from the MSNBC anchor desk has run counter to the more traditional role Mr. Brokaw played on “NBC Nightly News” for more than two decades. NBC said earlier this month that the two hosts would mostly relinquish their anchor duties to Mr. Gregory (right wing shill, just watch his show ), while being present as analysts.

>snip

Mr. Brokaw said he had also conducted some shuttle diplomacy in recent weeks between NBC and the McCain campaign. His mission, he said, was to assure the candidate’s aides that — despite some negative on-air commentary by Mr. Olbermann in particular — Mr. McCain could still get a fair shake from NBC News. Mr. Brokaw said he had been told by a senior McCain aide, whom he did not name, that the campaign had been reluctant to accept an NBC representative as one of the moderators of the three presidential debates — until his name was invoked.

“One of the things I was told by this person was that they were so irritated, they said, ‘If it’s an NBC moderator, for any of these debates, we won’t go,’ ” Mr. Brokaw said. “My name came up, and they said, ‘Oh, hell, we have to do it, because it’s going to be Brokaw.’ ”
