Didn't Steinbeck write about a beer milkshake? Maybe you could make one with O'Doul's for bushwa. (If you're willing to take the risk of wearing it, that is.)

So what is the tentative total of attendees right now? I hope it turns around for ya'll, I wish I could be there, but my Lear horse is down. Someone should spike Bushwas milk, at least take a pic of him, with his oxygen tank and depends, I am dying to see him, I think he looks like the grandpa in Christmas Vacation, the guy who sets himself on fire, and the tree!!!

Oh, and don't worry, there will be more pics of Bushwa. Krinla drew a sketch on a napkin that she's having scanned, and Brother David is working on a "word picture."

Now, about Bushwa: Picture David Morse as Bill Clinton's younger brother by way of a Catskills high-roller with a Lou Grant twist and just a touch of Bea Arthur gone hormonal. In the meantime, he makes marvelous protestational magnetic bumper stickers -- could be a cottage industry, just sayin'. Oh, my goodness, what a treat, to meet not only Windy The Nit-Picker but IVEATCH and krinla and RandiLover and (too briefly) adamquestor, and of course X-Ray-Spex and the various and sundry spousal and partneric units, Lori and Jolene and Matt, what a treat. Wonderful peeps, great crosstalk, disappearing boigahs and fried things and Guinness and Sam Adams and Bass, and, yes, in honor of Her Randivinity, Amber Boch. Those who couldn't be there were much discussed and missed and certainly there in spirits. Fabulicious time all around. Solidarity.

X-Ray-Specs had started out trying to hypnotize Matt, but after a short time Matt quickly had the upper hand, and and it was X-Ray who was slack-jawed and ready to take orders from Matt.

Matt, incidentally, was the guest of a member, and quickly demonstrated he's so informed, educated, articulate and enlightened on the issues and players that several were quickly urging him to get on the board. Perhaps proving the intelligence most suspected by then, Matt politely declined and said, "I don't do that."

I'm afraid that's all the pictures I have, and I didn't start taking pictures until after Adamquestor and his guest had left. That wasn't intentional. It's just that no one was taking pictures until and hour or so into it, when X-Ray-Spex said, "Oh my God, no one has a camera! RandyS is gonna kill me!"
I generally keep a camera in the car, and so I trundled out for it. Among others, I've done Krinla an especially terrible disservice, because there's no straight on heads-up photo of her. But in my defense, she's that brand of attractive that turns dorks like me into clumsy 15 year old boys who don't want to be caught staring, to say nothing of boldly taking photos that everyone know would soon be pasted on the wall for nervous-making secret shrines and such. Suffice it to say, you'd all have fallen victim to deep, dark brown eyes of the sort that lead to wars, duels and life-long battles between brothers.
The camera wasn't out when X-Ray was showing us how he really looks exactly like Barack Obama. Iveatch taught us all how to pronounce his name (rhymes with Eye-peach), and his wife was patient and cheerful while we talked about threads, old battles and posters-formerly-known-as-trolls.
Brother David was lambasted for his unceasing, implacable good cheer, positive attitude and optimism, but remained unbowed.
I am not in any of the photos, as I was taking the photos. I will tell you this. Upon entering, I immediately addressed Adamquestor, as I knew him after having accepted a recent invitation via RRMB to see him perform comedy. I said, "I know you." He and those with him at the table (X-Ray, Randi-Lover and a couple of others) immediately said, You're Bushwa." How they knew is a point of intense curiosity, but I suppose knowing the answer would hurt my feelings.
A fine time was had by all, and my suspicion was confirmed that talking with RRMB folks in person is actually far more pleasant than on the board. That is, no emoticons are needed, there's a more natural flow, and points of agreement are found more quickly. I confess I was nervous about what I'd gotten myself into, but was quickly quite pleased I took a shot and attended. I strongly recommend it to anyone who has a similar opportunity.

Can make you see and feel
Seems like a dream

Yes, I did "forget" to mention that moment when XRS turned to BD and said, "OK, now?" And as everyone hushed, they turned to me and said, "We think it's time someone talked to you about your post count..."
I was lured in for the intervention, and thus have made only 60 posts today. Can't go cold turkey, I have to "cut back."
BTW, Iveatch, you remember what I SAID my current total was? Apparently I was only off by about 500... I guessed far too low. Kinda sneaks up on you, ya know? Well, on ME, anyway.

I know some wise guy at the jukebox played ABBA but all I seem to remember is this.Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.
Where have you been?
It's alright we know where you've been.
You've been in the pipeline, filling in time,
Provided with toys and 'Scouting for Boys'.
You bought a guitar to punish your ma,
And you didn't like school, and you
know you're nobody's fool,
So welcome to the machine.
Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.
What did you dream?
It's alright we told you what to dream.
You dreamed of a big star,
He played a mean guitar,
He always ate in the Steak Bar.
He loved to drive in his Jaguar.
So welcome to the Machine.
Welcome to the Machine

I was the first second one there. Mr X got there and was throwing darts in the next room. I asked the lady behind the counter if she knew if any Randi Rhodes bloggers were here, she had no idea. She did tell me that she grew up with Randi and knew her sister. I ordered something to eat and a beer and waited a few. The lady then pointed towards Mr. X and told me that is where we were meeting. I walked over and introduced myself, at that point I could see that some of you already knew each other as you walked in.
Always let the bartender know what is going on, that is the first person I am going to talk to. Had a great time talking to people that did not get mad at talking about politics. I also talked a bit about the difference between religion and spirituality. I don't claim to know all the answers, I just go on past and present experience. IVEACH, I think I now know how to pronounce it, tell the pretty lady hi for me.
