I know some wise guy at the jukebox played ABBA but all I seem to remember is this.

Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.
Where have you been?
It's alright we know where you've been.
You've been in the pipeline, filling in time,
Provided with toys and 'Scouting for Boys'.
You bought a guitar to punish your ma,
And you didn't like school, and you
know you're nobody's fool,
So welcome to the machine.

Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.
What did you dream?
It's alright we told you what to dream.
You dreamed of a big star,
He played a mean guitar,
He always ate in the Steak Bar.
He loved to drive in his Jaguar.
So welcome to the Machine.

Welcome to the Machine

The Pink Floyd

Guilty as charged on both counts of playing ABBA and Pink Floyd. The ABBA selection (Dancing Queen) was a stunt pulled over the recent thread in this Forum about the Seventies. The Pink Floyd song was not. I also popped on some Blind Faith, Frank Sinatra and the 1970's mix of a KISS song titled "Deuce". They didn't seem to have any Smokey Robinson songs, but that could just be because this was a modern touch screen juke box (a juke screen?) and I failed to operate it properly. For some reason I seem to remember putting on Elton John's "Good-bye Norma Jean" but that could just be selective memory kicking in on my last Juke box pick in an alternate universe ................

krinla was also making some picks on the Juke Box's touch screen a little later in the day.

Best Selections,
pestone

Like "Waterloo" in German, maybe?

ABBA: "Waterloo" (original German version)

My my, at waterloo napoleon did surrender
Oh yeah, and I have met my destiny in quite a similar way
The history book on the shelf
Is always repeating itself

Waterloo - I was defeated, you won the war
Waterloo - promise to love you for ever more
Waterloo - couldn’t escape if I wanted to
Waterloo - knowing my fate is to be with you
Waterloo - finally facing my waterloo

My my, I tried to hold you back but you were stronger
Oh yeah, and now it seems my only chance is giving up the fight
And how could I ever refuse
I feel like I win when I lose

Waterloo - I was defeated, you won the war
Waterloo - promise to love you for ever more
Waterloo - couldn’t escape if I wanted to
Waterloo - knowing my fate is to be with you

And how could I ever refuse
I feel like I win when I lose

Waterloo - I was defeated, you won the war
Waterloo - promise to love you for ever more
Waterloo - couldn’t escape if I wanted to
Waterloo - knowing my fate is to be with you
Waterloo - finally facing my waterloo

-- Benny Andersson, Stig Anderson, Björn Ulvaeus

The heavy rotation of the song Waterloo back in the 1970s by the Djs of the time still makes me dizzy to this day when I here that song. Brother David has an outgrowth of hair on his face, which makes him extra, plus size sexy now. Phantom, I still haven't seen your eyes yet, but I'm sure they're swell, and match your glowing, tiger-like personality.

So Bushwa showed up, eh? Sure he wasn't wearing a Davis Morse + Bill Clinton mask? tongue.gif Did the intervention work? Well, at least he was able to focus the camera well - great pictures, man!! Still love ya Bushwa!!

Can't believe the Daily Spanky thread was a topic. Am touched, of course. Hey, that thread cleared out the Hillary whiners!! Mission Accomplished. smile.gif

All of you guys look great. Man, one of these days, I've got to show up and surprise you all. One of these days . . .

Apologies for turning this thread back to topics policticanus but Centrifuges in question that Haliburton sold through a subsidiary to Iran were the type that remove the sludge/dirt from freshly pumped oil.

From the article (written by Jason Leopold) that you link to, Randilover ................

It was Halliburton’s secret sale of centrifuges to Iran that helped get the uranium enrichment program off the ground, according to a three-year investigation that includes interviews conducted with more than a dozen current and former Halliburton employees.

Not all centrifuges are the same thing, just as all "welding equipment" is not the same. I had a full response written up when this same topic came up on a thread at another forum (a forum whose name that decorum does not allow me to mention here) I researched a couple of articles by some fair minded writters who pretty much debunked the Uranium Centrifuge rumor. I have a copy of the post saved and can PM it to you if you like, Randilover. I can also post it here.

Best Regards,

Yep, it's a decent picture of the side of my head. I was looking down at my burger. I don't really have a double chin. I don't know why I'm still hung up about my picture being on the Internet. After all, Yahoo and the Telecoms sold us out so if the CIA wants me they can just come to my door at this point.
Bushwa thinks I look like the future president Mr. Obama. I'd have to say I resemble him after a fashion in that I'm a black man of European ancestry. I'm much shorter than Barack and my ears stick closer to my head. biggrin.gif I'm actually a nearly perfect clone of my father.
RandiLover
So Haliburton did not have anything to do with a centrifuge, I will have to read the entire article this time... lol. I saw they were doing business with Iran and figured I would post it. I see a trend where our companies do business with these countries, and then turn it into a problem that costs us money. Haliburton would be profiting on both ends. So it looks as if they are causing the problem and then the solution, and the solution is ugly and hurts us all. Seems to me if we are going to get involved, it should be an objective that helps everyone.

OHh .... By the way IVEACH, How do you direct a stool with no back rofl.gif

Hey, I was wearing jeans, too! I just didn't have any denim on my HEAD. Of course, I was wearing my classy Reebok Club Champions (black), with a tasteful sport coat over an open collared shirt. To tell the truth, it was my journalist/actor's audition/stand up comic uniform.

Dude, a "drink or two?" You downed 2 1/2 Absinthes - enough to kill a herd of OxyContin-resistant Limbaughs (or sterilize them, at least).

I think we need to rendezvous more often. It seems to me, we haven't done NoHo yet. We've done Hollywood (Cat and Fiddle), Long Beach, Westside, Burbank, but No Ho, yet.

I was thinking of the HaHa Cafe, maybe on a Sunday, when the wackies are in the house and it's not too crowded.

Any thoughts?

Well, Monday presents rush hour challenges for some and "I gotta work tomorrow" problems for many. But if others don't mind, I don't.

Is that the place on Lankershim around the 5000 block, sort of across from the Dragon Street Cafe?

Given the tendency toward mirth at these meet-ups, the HaHa Cafe seems only appropriate. Even if it's not crowded, it will be packed with wackies once Rhodes Scholars descend, whoo-hoo, hoo-rah, hopla.

We will DEFINITELY keep you in mind. Consider yourself very invited.

As our community expands, we need to find new centralized places. NoHo was suggested here, because it's central to a lot of us and NoHo is just so... appropriate.

You're in Ojai, so it's a bit of a drive, even on the 126, but well worth it.

I just remembered, you can get the Metrolink (if it runs on Sunday) to NoHo directly, or the Red Line from Union Station to NoHo. Amtrak goes from Ventura (Sanjon Rd) to Union.
