Yeah, goin' trail riding in Santa Barbara in a coupla weeks. There's a cool trail in a wooded, stream-filled canyon that ends in a fabulous overlook 2000 feet above the Pacific.
Meanwhile, I can do any Saturday in June, except the 21st.

At one point, it's a possibility, but I usually get a pokey horse

that gets skeered of edges.
Gotta say, this is one of the most spectacular trail rides around. Your gonna get some good saddle sores out of this one
I also like the trail ride through the Wonderland of Rocks country near Joshua Tree. It's where they used to film a lot of Westerns with scenery like in

You're gonna have to define "gay friendly."
Champ's is a neighborhood Sports Bar in Burbank, so there's no Friday night Cher look-alike contest. I regard pretty much the whole of Burbank as very gay friendly - save for St. Bellarmine's Catholic Church. But I'm also straight, so who knows how much I could miss. Over the last 30 years I've been in it countless times with gay men and women, and I don't recall one of them ever coming out and saying, "I felt REALLY uncomfortable in there!"
In my 20's I picked up a lot of women there, but one of my gay poker buddies met his partner there, too. Save for one quick visit last year, I haven't been in the place regularly for MANY years.
But you have made me think of one thing. Before we settle by consensus on one day, we'll want to make sure that doesn't happen to be the day of some big championship game that has the place packed to the rafters and everyone fighting to see the TVs.
(For the record, I'm infinitely more gay-friendly than I am sports-friendly. Sports? Stats? All the rules? Halls of fame? Ewwwwww!)

I love Joshua Tree, so awe inspiring, my most worrie some monet in canyon riding was in the Palo Duro canyon in Tejas. On a young colt, riding on the rim behind my buddy Clay, and having my horse spook from a rattler, I thought I was dead, and I've had that thought many times riding roughstock, but this was supposed to be a nice quiet ride, I almost literally shit my pants, but I too focused on staying away from the edge to actually shit!!!

Whoah! Delayed response.... That was skeery - canyons are no place to go running into rattlers.
The only even close to bad time I had on horseback was some doofus blowing a car horn making the horse rear up a little (good horsie). The funniest time was with my wife when she was on a mare in heat, and the mare kept hitting on the stallion I was riding - funny as hell!

OK you two, here's a true story, when I first came to Illinois in the mid 90's, I got a job giving trail rides in the western suburbs of Chicago, one morning, two guys on mountain bikes came roaring past us from behind, spooking two horses with young girls on them. My friend, another cowboy from Arizona and I, built loops in our ropes, and took off after them, roped 'em, and yanked them off their bikes, and dragged them for about 300 feet at a full gallop!!! They were covered in trail rash, and when we got down from our horses to get our ropes, they just laid there, afraid of what might come next. We just told them never do that again. We rode off to go check on the young girls who were shaken, but ok. They were only 14 or so, so it seemed justified.

That is too damn funny!
I have heard many complaints from riders about mountain bikes. Where I go biking up in Ojai, they have two separate trails for horses and bikes and this works nicely. Elsewhere in Calif, EQ paths are posted NO M-BIKING.
