Scott McClellan is confessing. That’s good. Hardly anyone from the Bush Crime Syndicate ever violates their blood oath to the President “Never to speak outside the family”.

Remember we know that Colin Powell lied to us and the World in that phony UN charade complete with “drawings” of mobile laboratories, stories of airplanes that were coming to spray you with “the most deadly toxins known to man” images of mushroom clouds and vials of “white powder” held up for dramatic effect.

Colin Powell’s’ Chief of Staff Col. Larry Wilkerson has told us that Powell knew he was lying about WMD in front of the UN. Colin Powell did it anyway and there has been no book, no confession, no admission of his complicity in selling the case for war to us and the world. Colin Powell was one of the most trusted people in America and so if he had refused or even confessed after the fact who knows how many lives could have been saved.

So when Scott McClellan writes a tell all I guess that’s as good as it gets.

The White House talking points are “That’s not the Scott we knew. We are puzzled” but a 2007 publishers release of book snippets belies the “SURPRISE” the President’s MEN are now expressing.

So now the book has been released and it seems McClellan is doing it for PAYBACK and a nice PAYDAY.

Scott was willing to spend his days spinning and covering for the criminal ones, the ones who committed TREASON by exposing an undercover CIA NOC who worked on Nuclear Proliferation issues in IRAQ. But in the end got pissed off when HE was lied to by Vice President Cheney, Scooter Libby and Karl Rove. THEY lied to HIM AND THAT’S NOT ACCEPTABLE. Lying to America and the World? No problem. Lie to Scott…PAYBACK TIME.

But Scott is still a coward. He doesn’t blame himself for spinning all day, for selling wars of choice or for outing a CIA NOC and covering it up. And he was ok with Americans drowning and being hearded into Sports Arenas after Katrina.

But the worst part is what he DIDN’T DO. He didn’t say anything when he was inside the White House. When he could have made a difference.

Scott McClellan is a coward and he needs to blame someone. Scott McClellan blames the media, oh no wait, the “liberal media”, as if there is one.

Liberals don’t fail to report Republican liars by the way. Their corporate masters do. I KNOW all about that.

While there was no “liberal media” the “mainstream media” did not fact check or write critical stories about Bush and Co. Sometimes they would go as far as to quote known liars like “Curveball” and “Ahmed Chalabi”. Sometimes stories were just made up out of whole cloth (think Judith Miller at the NY Times). The media were just lap dogs for the Bushies and their CORPORATE MASTERS who were really calling the shots.

So many critical stories were killed that I began saying “The news has been cancelled”

Last night on Anderson Cooper 360 there was a little cleansing moment of clarity, a sort of confession that slipped out of Jessica Yellin, a Harvard educated reporter who used to work for ABC.

She admitted this to Anderson Cooper:

“I think the Press Corp dropped the ball at the beginning when the lead up to war began. The Press Corp was under enormous pressure from Corporate Executives, frankly, to make sure this was a war that was presented in a way that was consistent with the PATRIOTIC FEVER in the Nation and the President’s high approval ratings. And my own experience at the White House was that the higher the Presidents’ approval ratings the more pressure I had from News Executives and I was not at this Network at the time but the more pressure I had from News Executives to put on positive stories about the President.”

Anderson Cooper was OUTRAGED…”YOU WERE PRESSURED BY NETWORK EXECUTIVES????” he asked, like the proverbial sweet little country mouse who is SHOCKED TO FIND OUT there’s GAMBLING IN CASABLANCA! The blood drained from Yellin’s face but she muscled through and said, “They would edit my pieces, turn me in different directions, they would turn down stories that were more critical and try to put on pieces that were more positive, yes. That was my experience”

There’s hardly any news in the McClellan book for most of us because we knew the Iraq invasion and occupation had nothing to do with 9/11 or WMD. And we know we are occupying Iraq for reasons other than the dictator Saddam who is long dead.

We knew we tortured people, there were PHOTOS of that and we knew that Valerie Palme was our spy working on issues of Nuclear Proliferation in Iraq.

We knew that there was no response to Katrina and that the President didn’t care and still doesn’t and never will.

We know t that someone failed to protect us on September 11, 2001. Just didn’t protect us before, during or after. And we know that there were many people who tried to sound the alarm before and after only to be smeared like McClellan is being smeared now.

Let’s try not to shoot the messenger and hear the message.

Now here’s the GOOD NEWS

Presidential hopeful John “Grandpa” McCain can now be seen for what he is. Just another ONE OF THEM. A propagandist who knows this “WAR” was a war of choice and that we choose to remain occupiers of Iraq but he still talks about “winning IT” and THE TERRORISTS who are coming to get you if we don’t “fight them there”. He now is completely discredited and a cocktail party joke punchline. “What does Bush call an old propgandist? McCain” Hillary just looks silly for falling for it and for not having even the sliver of courage that McClellan has shown.

The choice in now crystal clear. The only man who saw through all the propaganda and lies, who didn’t get the FEVER was Barack Obama. Obama got it right the first time and bet his future on truth telling. What can you say to that?

Actually I think Wolfo was the first neocon coming out of the closet to say in public that wmds would be the cause. If you consider propaganda, consider boomers have a deeply engrained fear of wmds. So add evil and wmds and the appeal is to boomers and conservatives or neoconservatives. Cheney got alot of milage out of "nuclear option" stuff too. All marketing strategies have a target. An evil dictator possessing wmds appeals to certain people. People know how to reverse engineeer things.

Ritter knew the machine could not be stopped. He tried his best even getting locked out of McCain's office. Too bad Ritter was not a lobbyist. That machine was fired up from Afgainistan, war fevor. Hard to stop that ship or turn its course once started.

The other side of the coin is people like Feith to me. Anyone not going along with the program can get labelled traitor. Then there are the stories about the men in black running around killing stories which they claimed were matters of homeland or national security. One story not told to date is why a certain well known reporter once on public tv and radio severed her relationship with a cable news entity. The Cubans took excerpts from Feith's book, added other information to suggest the crusade did not end with Iraq. John Bolton's ego allows for another piece of the puzzle which pretty much shuts down peace making efforts until all these fools leave public domain for good. I am really surprised that an Oil executive has not blown up in his or her own car by now. Not fear mongering just a possiblity based on past practices. Am sure most Executive now have huge security details and are staying at home.

Holding to strict definitions these people are Fascists and a few are Marxist too. Uncle Don said that the Regime change mission in Iraq was headed by NSA. Whitehouse confirmed that by saying the Secretary of defense speaks for the Whitehouse. And that is why McCain is still full of shit. And Rice is jepordizing Obama's run at the Whitehouse.

The following is from my Iraqi friend, now living in London, responding to my email saying that a relative is being sent to Iraq. It gives a picture of what life was like before Bush's War. He still loves US and a kinder, gentler person you will not find anywhere in the world. Oh what was lost!

"Going to Iraq involves taking unnecessary risks, I am sure you can tell from the news coverage that lack of security is still a major concern and I would suggest put it off until a later time or avoid it all together. If this is not possible it is important to remember that safety comes first, and not to trust anyone particularly when visiting troubled parts and dealing with brain washed individuals who won’t listen to common sense. It is good idea to mention to your cousin’s son not to judge on the whole nation based on bad experiences he may encounter over there, there is the good and bad everywhere although a lot of the civilised & well educated has left Iraq. (when TV coverage shows only bear footed children, streets full of rubbish and overweight women fully covered in black showing nothing but the eyes, I get out and share around my collection of Baghdad University photos with many girls in mouth watering mini skirts!)

I remember long time ago in Baghdad when I was still wearing shorts (not that long time ago!) I used to appreciate and collect post cards, brochures, calendars and stationery of famous US landmarks seen on TV and associated with movie stars of favourite films (Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, Disneyland, Venice Beach, Golden Gate Bridge, Cable Car, Vegas Casinos).

During my involvement in tender for redevelopment of underground station, I met an Iraqi woman; she is estimating manager, works for Network Rail and very easy going. Surprisingly, her family home back in Baghdad is few streets away from where i used to live, also her husband graduated from same college as i did. At sometime we were chatting about holidays, and instinctively i started talking of my love of America and everything American, and how much i would like to settle down in southern California, then she mentioned she has a sister living in Chicago and has a daughter studying medicine who has many girlfriends at university many of polish origin. She is going to mention me to her friends and i hope this may generate some interest. When i read about Chicago, my heart sank when discovering how cold it can get in winter!."

Randi,
The way you love Robert Wexler is the way I love my Congressman, Maurice Hinchey. Not only is he one of the few who voted against the Iraq war, he is a voice of progressive sanity. And this is no small feat in the very "red" county where I live in upstate New York. I'm hoping we get more like him and Congressman Wexler in November.

Glad you got your board back.....

I was the Western Regional Director for the National Black Media Coalition for many years and we fought the march to media conglomeration with passion. We knew what was ahead not only for Black and minority owned media but for free and liberal media as well. You see, one makes the other possible when you look back at how both evolved.

When the move to kill freedom of the press started in full tilt, I remember it began with the Al Haig's pronouncement that the media would respect the office of the President. After Reagan was shot (I still think it was a ploy to launch phase 1), press conference decorum was changed... first by acting like we were school children that would now have to raise our hands and wait to be called on. I had been in the press corp in a number of press confs and recall the days when we could shout the questions to be answered, even of the President. It was never disrespectful. In fact, the process was quite orderly and policed by the members of the press themselves. There was an unwritten protocol in these press conferences. We always knew (you could tell) who was going to ask the hard questions... you could freely follow-up and you always got honest attempts to answer because the format unified the press corps. In fact, asking questions this way provided cover for the next journalist in line (you remember Dan Rather and the Nixon question). We (the press) were like a gang...all free to ask equally... all free to take the blame as one unit (the Press). No one was every told you couldn't get a credential because we were all for one. The new system began the divide and conquer techniques we see now.

The next step was to chip away at free and minority owned media. Minority Media meant diversity...as in the marketplace of ideas (Communications Act of 1934). If you could strip back this concept, you could open the way for corporate media.

More if you want.
