Not being a resident of California or Massachusetts, or any other state or country where gay marriage is legal, I haven't felt any need to rush out and get married recently.

Even so, I have wondered whether I would feel pressure to get married if I lived in California today.
I'm sure that for thousands of happily-partnered gay and lesbian Californians who have been waiting for years for this day to arrive, whether to officially tie the knot is a wonderfully-easy decision to make.

But what about those who have been dating or even cohabiting without having given much thought to formally making that legal commitment because of the previously uncertain status of the law? Will this new opportunity put a strain on some relationships?
