The Democratic Party is now led by Barack Obama. His first order of business? No more PAC contributions or contributions from Lobbyists to the National Committee. It’s not the whole enchilada but it is a very bold start.

Obama confronted Lieberman yesterday in the Senate well. I wish I would have been able to hear THAT conversation. Lieberman has endorsed McCain but still caucuses with the Democrats but will likely speak at the Republican National Convention for McCain. I am so sick of that man. He’s been trashing Democrats and Obama endlessly. We need a BIGGER Senate majority so we can toss him out of the Democratic Caucus meetings. Can you say ZELL MILLER???

http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/03...int_so_joe.html

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: Just a note for those who are upset that money from OBAMA treasury be used to pay off Clinton’s debt…It’s illegal for him to do so, but he can hold FUNDRAISERS for her.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...ZM&refer=us

Hillary will be speaking to the Nation tomorrow. Pray for leadership! This country has been through enough and we need some NOW. There’s a sad and sickening story below regarding Hillary supporters calling Civil Rights Leader and Democratic Majority Whip Jim Clyburn’s offices with HATEFUL RACIALLY CHARGED phone calls. PLEASE PLEASE STOP.

What do you YOU think her role should be? Let’s talk about THAT.

The economy is worsening month by month. Jobless “claims” (we don’t count people whose benefits have run out) are up and so are foreclosures across the country with a warning that MORE are on the way.

Grandpa lies so often even I can’t keep track, but we all know his position on deregulation and banking. Grandpas’ campaign loaded with lobbyists like McCain Campaign Economic Advisor Former Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX). Everywhere Gramm goes massive rip off’s in energy and housing follow. Why? He’s a lobbyist for SWISS BANKS who wanted deregulation of our banks to kill consumer protections and tear down the Regulatory Impediments that protected us from being RIPPED OFF. Those REGULATORY IMPEDIMENTS were enacted after the GREAT DEPRESSION.

http://windycityguide.blogspot.com/2008/05...aham-still.html

And let’s not forget Dr. Wendy Gramm, Phil’s wife Dr. Wendy Gramm.

Formally Dr. Gramm was chair of the federal Commodity Futures Trading Commission where she moved to exempt Enron’s energy-swap operation from government oversight. By then, the Houston-based Enron was a major contributor to Senator Gramm's campaign.

A few days after she got the ball rolling on the exemption, Wendy Gramm resigned from the commission. Enron soon appointed her to its board of directors, where she served on the audit committee, which oversees the inner financial workings of the corporation. For this, the company paid her between $915,000 and $1.85 million in stocks and dividends, as much as $50,000 in annual salary, and $176,000 in attendance fees, according to a report by Public Citizen, a group that has relentlessly tracked Enron, which in turn has called the report unfair.

Meanwhile Enron had become Phil Gramm's largest corporate contributor—and according to Public Citizen, the largest across-the board donor in its industry. Between 1989 and 2001, the company tossed Gramm just under $100,000

The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has come out with its report on the public claims made by the Bush Administration in the build up to war. Guess what? They LIED THEIR ASSES OFF. Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon would like to review the testimony of one DONALD “we know where they are. They’re in Baghdad and places north south east and west” Rumsfeld. BRING IT ON.

What do you YOU think her role should be? Let's talk about THAT.

I think Hillary should be in the cabinet. My picks:

Secretary of Defense. She has been on the Senate Armed Services Committee and has an understanding of the military issues. She is on the hawkish side so that helps. I feel this would also quell some of the fears our Jewish voters have about Obama and Israel.

OR

Secretary on Heath and Human services to deal with the healthcare crisis. She is well informed on this topic and also serves on the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee.

Or if not in the cabinet:

Appointed to the Supreme Court.

2 days after accepting the mantle of "Presumptive Nominee", Barack Obama tells the DNC that they, like he, should NOT accept lobbyist/PAC money.

How's THAT for "LEADERSHIP We Can Believe In", Grampy?

How's that for straight talk? Pretty damn good, I think

Okay. now throw away the show topics. The big news today is the price of oil. A $12 jump in one day is nearly inconceivable.

Now comes the test. With the farm bill override, Congress closed the "Enron Loophole", giving the CFTC more oversight authority into potential market manipulation. Now they need to demand enforcement.

I have a feeling Hillary will do the right thing tomorrow.

Oh, and another thing going on in Minnesota. AL Franken is in hot water over articles he wrote years ago for Playboy....alot of women are taking offense. The dems are meeting in Rochester this weekend, there is talk this could hurt Als chances of becoming the dem nominee for Senator. Do you think his writings years ago should be brought up now? Personally I dont like the guy but I have reasons other than his writings for Playboy.

Thank you Randi for all you do for all of us. Have a Great Weekend.

I also want to say thank you to the members of your board. Your Members are a great bunch of people and really, really, smart. Your Members do their Homework; are quick to pass on additional information, and useful ideas. Your Members encourage us, novices to be engaged. I have a big mouth, but I am basically shy and even though I joined the boards early, I still hesitate to post or call sometimes. So thank all of you and Have a Bouncing Weekend!

Here's what's been one of the biggest surprises of the primary season for me - the kind of what Randi is now referring to as a lack of "emotional maturity" that has been displayed by my ... MY IN_LAWS!

My wife's parents are in their '70's and live down in Randi-country ... West Palm Beach. I've been married to their daughter for almost 35 years, now, and as far as I know, they've always identified themselves as Democrats. There's something that they identify themselves even more strongly as, however - ZIONISTS!

The State of Israel came into being when they were young, idealistic teens, and they jumped on that bandwagon, and have never really jumped off. Something - maybe the MSM, maybe the Rethug noise machine, maybe the viral e-mails, - makes them believe that Obama will NOT be the unwavering supporter of Israel that Hillary would've been, or that they believe McSame would be.

And there's just no talking sense to them - how on Earth can they be troubled by BOTH his association with Jeremiah Wright AND the bogus claims that he's a Moslem? Doesn't the acceptance of one of those as a REAL problem neutralize the other?

Hillary is not qualified for the SCOTUS, she is not qualified to be a cabinet member, she needs to leave politics.

For a long time, I admired her and cheered her on. When she stood at a podium and attempted to justify voting for GB's war, and said..."never in our wildest dreams did we think he would actually go to war...." she lost me. After all the years of dealing with the "vast right wing conspiracy" (I know there is one at least in the county where I live btw) after all the Bush years, after all the 2000 campaign lies from the Bush camp, after all the years of Rooooove...she believed George Bush would do the right thing. Her judgement and perception is flawed beyond being useful. Besides, she's a corportist. And she turned on us.

I too live down in Randi-country. My many Jewish friends have the same concerns regarding Israel. I just point them to Robert Wexler. If HE believes in Obama and believes he will be a friend to Israel, that is good enough for me. There is nary a congressman in Washington who is more credible than Wexler.

It is an interesting quandary. You'd think in just saying a sentence that had both Pastor and Moslem in it would make someone stop and think for a brief second that something wasn't right.

Thanks. It's interesting indeed. Amy Klobuchar was arguing the same point about the Enron Loophole and the CFTC needing to act on enforcement. Michael Greenberg, Univ. of Maryland Law Professor, seems to have blown that out of the water though. He doesn't believe the measure will have any effect because of the current postitions of and personel at the CFTC. He believes they'll continue to abdicate to non-regulatory London and Dubai.
