This is the second time that it has been reported.

I would pity him if he said he was being targeted by a homophobe, but he supports raising divisive wedge issues like gay marriage to keep republicans in power. Throw the book at him.

Oh, and now he's a registered sex offender. I have to wonder why he would plea guilty, what kind of dirt did they have on him?

It's always the "moral" ones. It's so much easier to be openly gay than to hide and give oral sex to a sleeping person...or doing the toe tap in the men's room...or paying for male hookers.

As much as I fight it, I feel sorry for them. What's it like to live that way? To be so twisted and self-hating just cuz you can't accept the fact that it's okay to want to be with, in this case, another guy?

I feel sorry for people who have it beaten into them to hide who they are because of religion or politics from an early age but far too often it is the ones who take a serious stance against homosexuality who in turn are homosexual or bisexual and I honestly have no sympathy for anyone so hypocritical that they do everything they can to make my life miserable just because theirs is.

Problem is, a lot of times I think that they're one and the same. When they demonize gays it's not us they are thinking about. They are really condemning what they hate and fear and have been brought up to believe is evil about themselves.

All the more reason we need to solidify our rights. Republicans and religion in particular often chose to go after the minorities or those who are different from themselves in order to make themselves feel good about their lives. Another reason is what you mention, the more rights we have, the more commonly accepted we are as human beings with the same basic human rights, the more the opposition will feel less intimidated by their religion and by their parents and leaders in society to automatically hate themselves for who they are.

It could have been that he was guilty of the charge leveled against him, no?

But as for the "dirt" they had on him, there was this in the story.

Prosecutor Stanley Levco said other incidents involving Murphy would have been presented as evidence had the case gone to trial. A Clarksville police report shows Murphy was involved in a similar incident in 1988, but no charges were filed.

So the guy had attempted to take advantage of someone who was inebriated before, evidence this wasn't just n isolated episode. BTW, I'm wondering if the "1988" isn't actually a typo for 1998, because he doesn't appear to be old enough for a similar episode to have taken place 20 years ago. But I'm no whiz at estimating ages.

Nice catch...

This isn't even the first time for Murphy. He did almost the same exact thing back in 1998 to another young man. Back then the boy he accosted in his sleep was 21. This time around, the boy as 22. Murphy is 33. By the way, why is a creepy 33 year old guy the head of the Young Republicans? Especially one who already has a track record of trying to give guys oral while they're sleeping.

You're right about that. By helping ourselves we're helping them too. In spite of themselves cool.gif
