Up to a point. I like a really good guitarist no matter what the genera.

Dwain Allman, Dickie Betts played some of the best licks ever.

Someone started an "I like Credence Clearwater Revival" thread.

These two bands are the closest I've ever come to really liking that kind of music.

Lynard Skynard never floated my boat.

I like a lot of the "Old" music like the Everly Brothers.

That's Duane Allman and Berry Oakley. (I'm sure it's Duane - fairly sure it's Berry.)

I lived in "Hotlanta" in the late 60's/early 70's, and the Allman Brothers would drive up from Macon to play. Every Sunday sfternoon for HOURS...and for free in Piedmont Park. It was a little slice of hippie heaven!

Edited to add;

The story of Duane's motorcycle accident was told to me by a local Macon cop who was at the scene. Seems he went into shock and wasn't feeling his injuries. He insisted that he was just a little banged up and refused medical attention. Died a short while later of internal injuries.

I like Dave Edmonds and Nick Lowe (Rockpile)

Yes, I love the Allman Brothers. They are a part of the soundtrack of my life.

Where are they now?

I saw them at Winterland the first week of Nov. 71. It was the last SF appearance before Duane's death. I was working as a clerk and butcher at the local grocery store so I would sell myself a case of Schlitz Malt Liquor Tall boys the night before a concert. Then we'd freeze all the cans until right before we left. When we got to the hall, we all wore bulky jackets and put three cans down each sleeve before going in. By the time we got inside and settled on the main floor, the beers were just thawing out and still ice cold. So I was 30 feet from the stage watching Duane and Dicky Betts trading lead runs on Whipping Post and my favorite, Statesboro Blues.

Another little known fact about the ABB. In the song, "Rock N Roll, Hootchie-Koo", Rick Derringer sings about a band called the Jokers. That was the ABBs first name and he was referring to them.

Saw the ABB my one and only time just before Berry Oakley died. "Statesboro Blues" from the Fillmore album will always be on my mp3 player. It was my late friend Glenn's song. We used to drive in his car to Winterland and he'd crank that song up. I think of him every time I hear it.
