The Great
Roy Orbison

Roy Orbison, one of my all time favorite performers died unexpectedly at the time of his life when he was making a fantastic comeback.

Here are some videos of this talented performers career, as a single performer, and as part of The Traveling Wilburys.

First, some excerpt videos from His Concert with Friends, The Concert in Black and White. Along with Roy are KD Lang, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Brown, T Bone Burnett and others.

Here from the Concert in Black and White

Mystery Girl, had been recorded and was awaiting release when Orbison suddenly died in1988.
The well-received album included the posthumous hit "You Got It" and went on to become the highest-charting album of his career.

In 1986 I had the privilege of sitting in the 2nd row at Boston's Symphony Hall and got many pictures of two of the greats of all time, Roy Orbison and Bo Diddley. Here are two of those pics.

NEM, thanks for posting these artists. When I think of Orbison, I think of that Black-n-White video. Was like the mentor got together with students. I like searching for old rare stuff searching out the roots of American rock. West Virginia University maintains a bluegrass archive which is cool to me. Check out a tune called the Railroader I think, very revealing. Another one is Cash. I got a real old studio version of this one somewhere. Has alot of noise on it like a studio demo. Sounds like Depression era music but could be later:

I'm a Drifter- J. Cash version

I'm a drifter, lonesome drifter
Got no place to call my home no more
I'm a wanderer, lonesome wanderer
Got no one to call my own no more

Got no strings to tie me down
Got no cause to hang around
What difference does it make which way I go
Got an empty feelin' down inside
Still I need to stay alive
Who can tell what waits beyond this road
I'm a drifter, lonesome drifter
Got no one to call my own no more

Got no strings to tie me down
Got no cause to hang around
What difference does it make which way I go
Got an empty feelin' deep inside
Still I need to stay alive
And who can tell what waits beyond this road
I'm a drifter, lonesome drifter
Got no one to call my own no more

Got no one to call my own no more
