While I won't deny that we're probably among the most uneducated and unaware industrial nations, I strongly suspect they had to interview several people to find ones dumb enough for these questions. I could go out on the streets of another country and produce the same results if I had enough time to question enough people and edit out the intelligent ones.

DEPENDS on the neighborhood, i suspect the answers on wall street in ny would be a bit better...maybe not, but i hope so

americans are dumb as posts, no doubt about it

hasnt always been that way, in the 18th/19th century the average American knew more about his country and the rest of the world than the rest of the world

I'm not sure if it's being dumb as much as it is about information control in the mostly consumed mass media and our general predisposition to consume comfort food.

But, then again, my fellow Americans can possibly be that dumb.
