Full Version: Am I the only one who buys cereal

Yesterday my wife was teasing me about my little quirk. I always look to see what's in the box of cereal, I've got a Batman figure who punches, an Indiana Jones light up spoon 2 of these, green and red, A Speed Racer race car, actually two, and a whole set of Cars and trucks from the movie Cars. Oh and a batman spinner ring, and a Wristwatch from some movie. So am I weird? I just think it's funny, and when you spend so much on a box of cereal, I think I oughta get a little something for my money, or should I say, for my amusement.
Christine
What kind of chores do you have to do to get the kind of cereal that has a prize? smile.gif
TapDuncan
Christine-- Oh I do all sorts of chores, today I unloaded 500 80# bales of hay and stacked them up in our hay loft, and I run a farm from daybreak to Randi and then from post Randi to dusk. I just love a free toy, I give them away most of the time, to our neighbors across the road, but they have 4 kids, so I have to get enough toys to keep the fighting to a minimum. Of course I only give them up after I'm bored with them!!!

While I don't buy cereal based on the free toy (I buy the cheaper stuff), I do like to buy jelly based on the the glass you get when the jelly is done.

Does that count? I have 5-6 Peanuts jelly glasses.

Even though I am a non practicing hetro male I still have the 'hookers breakfest', cigarettes and coffee.............

Tap, you truly are a true American.
plodder
Could always try these

TapDuncan
Plodder-- Me loves the Nilla Wafers, oh man, in ice cream, dunk in milk, they dissolve, it's a miracle!!!! Oh,and good for you too. (OK not really) I also used to eat a box of animal crackers while shopping, but I got arrested in Arizona in 87 for doing that, so I stopped in 06. Crime does not pay, even if you pay for the empty box. I blame my mom, she started it. When I was 3.

I must confess a fondness for Honey Nut Cornflakes. Haven't had it in years though. I can't find it in any of the local stores.

I've bought organic cereal from the food co-op across the river on occasion.

I gotta ask. Do you wait for the toy to pour out into your cereal bowl, or do you do like me and dig for it?

TapDuncan
CWV---Nowadays they are seperate, but I did love digging around for them, especially my Pink Panther Decoder, back in the 70's, I'll never forget that one.
Christine
ok...I like prizes too, Tap...but I don't know that I could throw bales of hay smile.gif I have the full collection of Lion King mini stuffed animals that were Happy Meal Toys a long time ago...they have hooks in their heads so that they can be hung from my Christmas tree next to the Simpson Happy Meal toys...yeah, I'm weird like that....I also have a Tommy (from the Rugrats) that has clip arms and is on one of my plants...I also have a little dog from a Happy Meal that rides with me in my car...smile.gif

Christine-- we are all the same, we are cool, no matter what they say, trinkets are cool, think Manhattan, I love cereal toys!!! And I'm not ashamed to admit it!!! I had a Pink Panther flakes code detector, yea me!!!

I might the worst on here.

I used to buy Pepsi s for the Pepsi points.

I also bought cokes for the Coke award points as well.

What I got was a few doodads that I thought were cool at the time.

When I babysat my niece and nephew, I distractedly served myself the plastic-wrapped toy and poured milk over it. For about 15 minutes I was the "untouchable" uncle.

And Tap, you have the right idea - you have to have 2 boxes of cereal to avoid toy conflict.

See! Look what The Food MAGNATES and souless Media SHARKS have done to your minds SINCE DAY ONE! Any you still eat the same sugary crap and fetish the same worthless dreck! Wake UP!

dry.gif It's always better to pour the cereal in the bowl, that way you don't knock the box all out of shape; and if it's something really sticky like Sugar Smacks, they won't get stuck all over your fingers while you're digging. Also, while they're poured out, you might as well have a bowl, right? mellow.gif

I buy my cereals based on whether or not they contain the string of letters "choco."

The toy within comes second.

I actually bought Burger King Kid's Meals for a week to get the Iron Man toy.
TapDuncan
So I'm really not so alone after all, that makes me happy, now I'm off to play with my free toy surprises!!!

I also forgot, I got 3 video games in Apple Jacks, when I was only supposed to get one, BONUS!!! They were cool for about an hour, then I gave them to the kids across the road, who took them to school and got caught...hee hee hee.

My deal wasn't so much the cereal, as it is the cracker jacks and the Bazooka Bubble Gum jokes. They are some of my best joke sources.
TapDuncan
I love Bazooka Joe, always crax me up!!!
