I just watched Ralph on This Week with Stephenopolis and when he was asked if his run will hurt Obama he replied........

" I want Obama supporters to keep pressuring him to stay on course with all of the important issues Americans need"

He says there are 2 ways to get the point home......(1) when you donate to Obama write a note on your issues

(2) support Nader as a voice to speak on those issues which in turn will get Obamas attention.

It was a good interview.......

BS on both accounts. Nader is a has been media whore who at this stage in his career wants camera time desperately so he can fundraise for himself. He is 100% irrelevant. And he is also a insane.gif

I saw that he was going to be on "This Week". He was on the prgram so Hilliary's former surrogate Georgie S. could hopefully get Nader to mudsling Obama. How could you fall for such a scam? And on ABC. The worst network for news. Any news organization that is owned by Disney and has Charlie Gibson as the anchor has to be seriously questioned. And George Stefan-suck-up as a pundit? Gimme an even bigger break.

I totally agree with you! wtf.gif could anyone be thinking that is still listening to this doddering fool? huh.gif Here is a man who has had a reputation for protecting consumers and truth telling. Yet, for more than 8 years, he has been a media whore and in my mind has helped the republican party more than the biggest Bush donors could ever have! At what point will people finally wake up and see what has been going on in this country. Nader is as responsible for the death and destruction that Bush and company have inflicted on the United States and the world as any of the people who allowed 9/11 to occur and waged this illegal war in Iraq! He might as well have had a cabinet position in the administration.

Are we stiill hurting from 2000 when the claim was Nader robbed votes?

I agree with his 2 tactics Obama has been leaky on FISA and Free Trades and those are 2 big issues, well with me.

I do indeed realize ABC is no different than the rest of the American TV save PBS but I was just flicking around and there he was so I watched him. I have always had an open mind to Nader because of all the great things he has done over the years for the American public at large and that shouldn't be forgotten...............

If that elevates Nader's big ego then the answer would be: YES, whatever makes him happy.
The truth is that we lost the 2000 election due to the way Palm Beach County handled the recount and the ballot problems. Nader meant shit in 2000 and 2004 as well.

Reminder: Obama Told Us To Judge Him, and Pressure Him

Ok this by david sirota who anyone who listens to Randi or any progressive radio will know and respect his opinion...........

Those who think they are being Obama loyalists by either concocting apologist rationales about his behavior or telling everyone to shut up when he runs over the progressive movement are not just harming the progressive movement by supplanting it with Partisan War Syndrome. They are actually being disloyal to Obama by defying what Obama himself says he wants us to do.

I chatted with the Washington Post on Friday about Barack Obama's recent moves to the right. You can read what I told them in the Post's big story from yesterday. It juxtaposes nicely with an important post from Chris Bowers at OpenLeft, in which he urges us to judge Obama on his actions - and not come up with wild theories to explain them away. I can't agree more.

If this populist uprising moment is going to be harnessed into a real progressive movement, we need to see candidates as means for the movement - not ends unto themselves.

To follow up on Chris's terrific post, I want to point out that Barack Obama told me that progressive activists should judge him explicitly by what he does - and not come up with wild theories that absolve him. Here's the money quote from my article on him in The Nation two years ago:

I agree with Sirota, and I have made the same point myself on more than one occassion. However, much of what Nadar was saying was bullshit which makes me question his motives. When he started talking about Obama never did anything about lead paint, and inner city issues etc., thats bullshit.
