Bill Clinton says Barack Obama must 'kiss my ass' for his support
By Tim Shipman in Washington and Philip Sherwell in New York

Bill Clinton is so bitter about Barack Obama's victory over his wife Hillary that he has told friends the Democratic nominee will have to beg for his wholehearted support.

Mr Obama is expected to speak to Mr Clinton for the first time since he won the nomination in the next few days, but campaign insiders say that the former president's future campaign role is a "sticking point" in peace talks with Mrs Clinton's aides.

The Telegraph has learned that the former president's rage is still so great that even loyal allies are shocked by his patronising attitude to Mr Obama, and believe that he risks damaging his own reputation by his intransigence.

A senior Democrat who worked for Mr Clinton has revealed that he recently told friends Mr Obama could "kiss my ass" in return for his support.

Low class, IMO.

Bill didn't have to campaign for his wife, maybe she even would have done better without it. But he chose to, got beat fair. If he can't stand the heat, he should get out of the kitchen.

I say he comes forward and offers his support, as he promised to do just before the campaign ended, or he be allowed to sit in the corner and pout.

CNN is now reporting that Clinton and Obama are set to meet within the next couple of days. Also:

QUOTE
"Terry McAuliffe said the former president was angered by media reports suggesting he bore a grudge against Obama after the Illinois Democrat’s at-times bruising primary campaign against his wife and did not plan to actively support Obama in the general election.

“He was angry that these ridiculous stories were out here, and these supposed close friends of the president — none of the close friends ever got called,” McAuliffe said, referring to anonymous sources quoted in some stories.

Should have figured. The reliable Britsh press strikes again. /sarcasm

I think one opinion piece claiming that one unnamed source said that Bill Clinton made the statement, is hardly proof.

There are a lot of people out there trying to sew discord among Democrats. Personally, I don't believe that they are all disappointed Clinton supporters.

DING DING DING DING.

The republicans have publicly announced their plans to pose as democrats and disrupt us - to make us fight each other.

Anyone who is trolling the clinton / obama subject is most likely an R.

But there are so many who still live and breath to hate on the Clintons apparently. I've seen so much nasty, baseless, stupid, infintile BS from other democrats about the Clintons that I don't even want to be assocaited with them and am thinking of re-registering as an Independent.

If there's been a better president than Clinton in our lifetimes, someone please name him . . . waiting . . . . Oh, there isn't one, but "loyal," "principled" democrats threw him under the bus for the latest slick with a good slogan so fast it is truly remarkable.

I'm not sure who I'm more disgusted by, Obama or McCain, but AT LEAST, I can hope Obama will make better supreme court appointments. I guess that's something.

Lol, well that's one way to sit on your brains. Pretend anything that doesn't fit in with what you want to believe came from a nefarious source. Does supporting Obama mean you have to set up an alter and resign yourself to unconditional hero worship? Seriously, I've never seen anything like this. I voted for Edwards, so Clinton wasn't my 1st or 2nd choice, but Obama wasn't even on the list. That doesn't mean I'm going to vote against my own interests, but it also doesn't mean the guy gets a free pass on everything. Christ, that's how we got Bush, particularly the 2nd time. Party loyalty outweighed commons sense and reason. We have got to do better than this as a nation, or we're going to get exactly what we deserve.

How did we throw Bill Clinton - aw....I almost played along...

1. The Clintons are notorious for their vindictive personalities.

2. The Daily Telegraph in the U.K. is not a tabloid rag. It's too conservative for my tastes, but it is still a reputable publication.

3. The LA Times has been bought by the right-winger Sam Zell and is not now the paper it once was.

The truth is probably that Clinton is bitter but that he will put the good of the country above his own feelings. Chill.

After Edwards dropped out who was your second choice or new first choice?

It would be only human for Bill Clinton to be disappointed that Obama won. In a way Hillary was campaigning for Bill's 3rd term. It's also true that the press wants to print sensational stories whether they are true or not. Anyway, considering how effective Bill was in campaigning for Hillary, I hope Obama uses some discretion in accepting his help.
