Well I have to be honest, as a single mom born on the Westside of Chicago and raised on the Southside. In the same neighborhood the Obama's call home.

I say this, If Obama does not win the 2008 election, I will leave the United States.

Why?

Well I have just returned from living in China for about a year, and what the United States represented in the 1990's, is everything and more of what China represents now. I'm not saying that I would live in China for ever, or even make it my permanent home. Maybe I will go back to Ghana to live, or maybe go to a country in South America, like Venezuela where the gas is .12 (CNN Money 2008).

But, I digress and say the reason I make such bold claims is because we are in a situation. In a situation where if we as a country do not make the right decisions we will have nothing. I have come back here because my moms unemployed, older and ill. So luckly found a job with a multinational company, but on contract because its a hiring freeze.

I'm poorer here making $35,000 a year than I was making 100,000 RMB or $14,500 a year in China.
I lived good people. I had an apartment that cost me 2700 RMB to maintain or $400, daily eating cost of 14 RMB or $2, 100 RMB or $14 if you wanna be swanky . And this is really gonna make you flip. I got sick stayed in the hospital over night and spent guess how much; 1800 RMB or $270. This included a PRIVATE ROOM that had to be 20' x 100' with a personal nurse, medicine, food clothes and some of the best care in the VIP unit of the hospital. Now how much would that cost us here in the United States?

It looks like China, our banker's quality of life is steps ahead of ours.

So what would you do if the democrats and Obama do not win the 2008 General Election?

Would you leave?

I wont leave, but I will make sure my car is clean. I always like to keep my living room clean.

it would be devastating

The car is paid for and my friend, who has her house paid for, said I could park it in her back yard and live there.

Canada is a little cold for me, but nice otherwise. Most of the good things about America with far less of the crap. I like Japan. Hong Kong would work too.

Tyo I do think Hong Kong would be nice too, but of course there are other places in the world to go. I would like to stay home, but this is getting out of hand.

I'll probably break out my Weapons Systems Fundamentals books, form the Belen Model Rocketry Society, found the Samuel Brannan Memorial Committee of Vigilance and start Google Earthing MIC corporate Hqs and subscribe to their quarterly reports so I know when and where they hold their stockholder's meetings.

I'm happy here too, but you never know what could happen. The Bushies have started a process we might not be able to stop.

at the same time, he (seemed) to express sympathy for known criminals.. go figure dry.gif

what if Obama doesn't win & what if dems in congress don't win?

There's a bunch of long time NY congress people retiring come this election and I think it's probably a good bet that they will be replaced with dems.

So if Obama does not win and Gramps becomes pres (UGH!) there should be more than enough votes in congress to override any veto.

What will I do? Make sure I work even harder to get out the dem vote next go round!

Obama's going to win.

There was one comment that stated, im not leaving my country.

But for me the issues is plain, it was only until recently that I began to be included in this country (civil rights, 13-14-15 ammendment)
So Yes it is the home of my birth, but This country lets me know everyday, that it has no love for those who do not have a certain colour or economic status.

I'm sure many of you fall under these categories. Because 99% of Americans are not the super-rich and (my assumtion) that 60% of this country is more than one race.

So all im saying is " If you are not living good, travel wide" ( Bob Marely " Soul Rebel")

That means get the hell out of dodge! rasta.gif

I can appreciate your plight as a minority.... but where would we be right now if Martin Luther King had decided to take his family and leave the country? Strong people need to stay and fight the good fight.... to take this country back.

The Democrats will win.

The more accurate question would be, "What will you do if the Republicans steal another election?"

Then things get really complex.

Oh well thank you!!! He's the happiest freaking baby in the world. So mellow that I can't even tell you!!! I think it is because of everything he went through the first week of life. He was 5 weeks early and spent a week in the NICU. He has taken the attitude that if you aren't poking him with sharp metal objects, then it is all good!

Well, I'll either be in one of their spiffy new extermination camps or I'll probably be out and around testing the air-defense capabilities of private security and intelligence companies' corporate HQs, along with the homes of their board members and upper management staff.

You know I dont want to give up on the United States, but Im kinda tired.
Im not trying to use the same old excuses but really its become tough here.
It's also becoming sad.

I know everyone here knows what Culture Shock means, well my reverse culture shock allowed me to see my country from a different lens. I lived here all of my life, and I have seen my country from the inside looking out position for 24 years of my life, the last 5 have been from the outside looking in, comming back looking out , going back out looking in.

What Im saying is that its bad. I see how much has changed and it has not been for the better.
Gas for example. When I was in both Chicago and Irvine, California last year gas averaged about $2.30 per gallon.
I remember say uh, dam can it go back under $ 2 like it was 6 months before.
Then I fly back here in March and its $4.09.

I see the desperation, people are not as giving and not as cordial. Why? Because people are so dam stressed about where they gonna live, how they gonna feed their families, and peoples tempers are shorter.

Have you guy's had the same experiences? Maybe its because Im from a big city, but I have noticed a cultural change here that has far reaching ramifications for our society.

So thats why I'm like man if this dont work out to our benefit, I might have to take me and my child and relocate. I pray they dont lock the boarders, so my family can make it to me. laugh.gif ninja.gif

Good luck to you on your travels.
I'm 3rd/4th generation American (depending on side of family you look at) and have no intention of going anywhere. They'll have to pry the Bill of Rights out of my cold, dead hands. I intend to fight with every breath of my being. I'm not surviving cancer to let my kids grow up in a fascist country. I intend to work to make this a better world, with or without Obama.

As tempting as it is I can't just pick up my ball and go home.

What would Martin, Bobby, John Brown, Fannie or Rosa say? What would the people who had their skulls cracked open for the right to vote Like John Lewis. What would the people who faced criminal charges for refusing to serve in unjust wars like Vietrnam or Iraq say> What about those who chose, to serve In Vietnam or Iraq, following their patriotic call to duty, but now don't get the healthcare that they deserve. What would they say? How about those who don't have the means to leave? Like the victims of Katrina. What would they say?

I believe that Barack Obama will win the election in November. biggrin.gif

But, if he doesn't, I'm not moving. I'm not going to give up and run to another country. We're going to stay here and take back America from the wacko religious zealots, corporate stooges, and chicken hawks who have hijacked the Republican Party. It's just a matter of time.

This is, after all, America. It's our country and we are the free, the bold, and the bodacious.

I know I know.... This year has to be different because people are so dissatisfied this time around.

This is the reason I don't understand why people get so upset when Obama panders just a little. In the national polls, he is only ahead by 5% and that is not enough to ensure that the repigs don't steal it. He is going to need an overwhelming amount of votes. I don't care what Obama "says" to get some of those right wingers and independents to get them to vote for him. All I care about is what he "does" after he is elected.

How will he win the second term if is proven to be a panderer to the right? When we pull out of Iraq and it falls apart??? Easy answer would be to get Bin Laden. The only way that Obama can get out of Iraq and stay in office is to get Bin Laden.
