I didn't get that message. My perception was that Rush was making fun a MJ Fox because MJF supported a dem.

funny how differently people can experience the same video clip - I saw the MJF's video clip and immediately thought he was exaggerating to make his point.

that was BEFORE I heard anything from Limbaugh on it. Honestly smile.gif

Has Rush's polynoid cyst been removed? If so, maybe he should sign up for Army service and put his cojones where his mouth is. Wait. That's not a visual I wish to contemplate. Of course, if he was able to do that, he'd never leave the house, and could have a career in porn like that other fine journalist, Jeff Guckert.

Good, so do I - so we agree on that. wink.gif

I believe that there is a certain optimism and idealism together with a lack of experience and "overview" associated with youth that makes "change, revolutionary views, anarchy interesting, cool and appealing.

That is an interesting opinion.

oh, no doubt...my brother and father are both righties...one of the people i work very closely with is a rightie...

i used to be a rightie, in that I thought (coincidentally) rush had all the answers back in the 80's, I can remember to this day the first time I heard him, I said to myself "now there is some common sense I havent heard in a while"

i was confused, to be sure...but i do understand what you believe and why.

Greed has a lot to do with the reason I was a rightie (only lasted a couple years) and the reason why my brother is, he thinks our corp and income will be greater under a republican, even though history shows just the opposite.

I also think life is too short to hate anyone other than the real bad guys like Karl Rove biggrin.gif

you see? this is exactly the ghist of my thoughts regarding perception & expectation.

Governments, Parties, DEBATE issues.

When you debate, you want to put forth your point of view in the best, strongest, convincing fashion. That is natural. It's a given.

MJF's video clip was part of that DEBATE process.

People contesting his video as exaggerated TOO was part of the DEBATE process..

And finally, the "uproar" over making fun of poor old MJF's parkinson's symptoms - that TOO,, is part of the DEBATE..

It goes on, expect it.. have fun with it - it is our Democratic process in action.

Debating issues? Really when did this happen?

What people are seeing are not debating issues but the selling of POVs. Nothing more, nothing less.

What is useful is when you see some points that actually stand up in the light of day.

You want to talk about debates? Check those high school kids on debate teams. They debate. What you see outside of that are noisy talking points.

And cheap shots and manufactured indignation simply make my point.

I disagree with the sentence I highlighted. That was not part of the DEBATE. That was crass and self serving. You don't get it, do you?

Look - if someone tries something underhanded & gets caught, he loses in the public arena and his influence on the matter at hand is reduced.
So it's risky.

People are struggling to sway an issue towards THEIR desired direction - is that wrong?

That is the political process. It always has been this way.

That is how our wonderful governmental system SELF CORRECTS - and generally stays in the CENTER...

Unless you can come up with a better way "to play the game", just watch..

And don't get so hung up on the words & statements - they are for "effect" - a lot of this is acting.

Finally, if you can't stand the DEBATE, stay out of the ... err, kitchen..

You're just talking about Human Nature..

But look, the real beauty is that "no one" really wins.. it stays pretty much CENTER ---->

Could you imagine a USA where the Capitalists fully held sway? Hell, (and it would be) 7 day weeks, child labor, starvation wages - you get the picture...

But the Labor Movement trumped them...

Now, could you imagine a world where the left Wing Loonies held full sway? Anarchy, guillotines (kidding, maybe not tongue.gif ) Communism - we all wear grey or brown!

So it's better in the CENTER and the DEBATES and the debate process keeps it there.

this has been a simplification admittedly..
