I'm curious about the "why now" of this. Is this just a matter of a particular singer deciding to make her statement, or is there some urgency locally that might have inspired this. Obviously the coming convention could be a factor. But I also remember from a couple guys I went through basic training with who grew up there that Denver has a history of being especially bad about their racial unity. So is there a background to this or is it just a singular event?

Colorado, 40 years ago, was practically run by the KKK. That's a fact. Beyond that, racial harmony has taken the form of an Hispanic & White debate.

The singer won't say what her motivation was to do this now, but I would guess the convention would play into it, as would the events of the last 15 months or so.

Give me some Woody Guthrie for the national anthem.

What I love is that we never, ever hear the last two stanzas. dry.gif

carmen - when will I get to hear "Lying Sack of Crap?"

I might put it on my cellphone ringtones.

Lol which one, the "Amazing Grace" version or the "Carry On Wayward Son" version?

Stephanie is back from vacay next week and I'm still on the road so I just might get bold and do them next week and send them in. I guess we'll see.

She's such a cute and funny girl.

Sounds like Southern CA 20 years ago.

Sadly, I know this for a fact, since I was there.

Nothing. Just being silly. cool.gif

Ah ok. Did you like the rendition? I thought it was pretty good.

Hard to say though, since I've heard that song maybe 998 times during the course of my life, played it about 498 times.

That's the problem with being a church musician -- you never learn the g/d words to these things lol

I found this today. And I was thinking, what a great combination of two worlds. Kind of like you got peanut butter on my chocolate! yipee.gif

SickupandFed's post prior to mine was a seperate thread. I was responding to SickupandFed's post - pointing to this thread. Shortly after my post it looks lke the mods merged the two threads.
