WHAT? Did I hear this correctly that Rachel is calling Jeb Bush as McCain's running mate?
When I think of the Bush Family and Republican party now, I think of this:
"I ask my father for bread and he gives me crust."
Was taught to me in a College level poetry class (long ago) that the line comes from a poem entitled Christmas Eve under Hooker's Statute. That could be right or wrong because as I say it was a long time ago and I don't remember the author.
I was taught that the setting for this poem is a street person sleeping under the statute of General Hooker of Civil War fame on Christmas Eve during a black-out of the East Coast during World War II. America turned her lights out at night during the WWII so as not to guide the enemy for potential bombing raids by air since the enemy was known to bomb cities at night all over Europe. Hooker was hooker supplying prostitutes to his troops and losing battles. And so now that this dark night scene is set the first line of the poem can be put into context sort of darkside funk and dissapointment. Reminds me of the Goth Movement as sort of a counter culture reaction to the day the world is to end by the "Bright white flash".
My upgrade is: I ask my Father for bread and they give me twinkies, like let them eat cake. Am sure you maybe able to feel this funk encompassing America, with two wars, insane gasolene prices, homes being lost while those who attempt to fear the populus into submission continue to rattle sables and scream, "It's the end of the world" to include global warming theories.
Over 5 years ago, I suggested natural gas powered farm tractors to some because in my neck of the woods of Patriot/Farmers, there is alot of natural gas tapped on a local level, ready for immediate consumption instead of nearly 95% conservation. Now why did natural gas prices spike during Katrina ? We were told natural gas prices spiked during Katrina due to speculation on temporary shortages, interesting. Interesting that BP got busted recently for some deviant activities concerning natural gas prices.
So Hell, I think Rachel is funny and informed. She is experiencing reactions to cognitive dissidence herself when talking to certain fellow talking heads. When she was trying to explain that Obama's position on troup withdrawls is pretty much his rhetoric all along, she was met with strong resistance, like a threat to security, herself threatening the spin of the day. It's just cognitive dissidence to me because the programmed tunnel visioned media just naturally accepts the spin of the day along with the Freak of the Day and be damned the One that refuses to accept dissillutionment, like I don't know, I ask my father for bread and he gives me crust ?
I guess I have not learned that expectations lead to dissapointment, I expected too much from a Government by and for the People.
