I don't know what to do. Aside from stints in the hospital, this is the first time I've been alone in years. I mean just me and the dog. I will have about 52 hours all to myself and I don't know what to do with my time!
Any suggestions?

As a guy I love to build things. I have radio equipment that can scan all of the bands. I love my computer, my toys, and my house always has something that needs to be cleaned or worked on. When I am not studying for another license, I enjoy reading a good sci-fi book. I have had many a space battle alongside Kirk and Spock, episodes never aired. My favorite was the Dreadnought.

Does this mean your hubbie finally got a job?

I read your first chapter of your book and I learned he was looking for work.
WEll, there's gotta be some local Democrat or Progressive running for office in your area, Maybe you could check them out and help them get elected if you like their platform.
http://www.democracyforamerica.com/ is a good place to start.
Learning a new musical instrument or language could also be a great challenge.
Or, being more practical, you could learn something that could potentially generate some income for you that could do from home. Take something you're already good at and capitalize on it.
What are you good at that you enjoy doing?
What do you suck at that you could get better at with practice?

The book was about what happened to me last year. He got a job last summer. Right now he's in Florida taking the kids there, they are staying for a week but he's coming back on Sunday. So I've been alone with the dog all day!
I made a nice dent in weeding the backyard, did some laundry, took a nap and now I'm sorting through some of the kids clothes. The nap was like a slice of heaven to me! I never get to do that.

I don't know, hmmmm, lemme see, ok. Buy a big box of twinkies and share them with your dog ? My dog and I just cruised to a country store for pizza, buffalo wings and teaberry icecream. She getting better at driving with each trip. I like to sit at the back window and bark at people myself. Sometimes she rolls down the window for me so I can catch bugs in my mouth. Our favorite sayings are "Car ride fun", "Car go fast" and "icecream good".

See, there it is.
Go for it. Suggestion, if U just take notes res whatever you are doing no matter what U do, it will be a selfish endeavor. Going to the mailbox could be s selfish endeavor. But it won't mean anything unless you can write about it...share your experience.

Rent all those movies the husband and kids won't let you watch in peace, buy a nice bottle of wine and whatever snacks you can't eat in peace when everyone is home and become the couch potato you always knew you could be!
When you are tired of that, read. Nothing is more perfect than a good book and a quiet house.

I work 30 hrs/wk in retail, so I'm on my feet all day. After 4 days straight of work, I'm dead. I attend college and this next semester, I'll be taking English and Political Science.
I'm the only one that takes care of the house (gardening, cleaning, laundry). I play/take care of 2 dogs & 3 birds.
Been trying to go out and do more stuff this summer. My daughter and I will be attending "American Idol" concert Wednesday night. Before the season finale, she said, "Mom, we have to go this time." This will be our 3rd.
In October, my good friend and I go on our annual trek to Apple Hill. We belong to the wine clubs there and have a blast wine tasting. (There's more to Apple Hill than apples) I'll be taking my daughter this year because she'll be turning 21 in Oct.

Kim--Let me take away all the magic of learning the guitar. First, buy a guitar, and a tuner, tune to E. Also buy a song book that has the chords, not, tabs.
The chords have a graph, with dots, and that's where you put your fingers. Strum your favorite song and sing, that's how I learned and I was only 15. I just figured out that the dot's are where you put your fingers and I was off and runnin'. My first song I learned, Lyin' Eyes by the Eagles. Have fun!

If I ever have a moment when I'm not working I might try to remember how to play the Saxophone and the Guitar. But who am I kidding? In this economy I'll be working 24/7 until I'm 90 or I drop from exhaustion.
I miss being a musician.
