How's this? I'll post a paragraph at a time, since I can't seem to post anything longer yet?

I'm writing for Elsa Newman: because Elsa cannot write for herself. You see, Elsa Newman is in prison. Further, Elsa Newman is in prison unjustly. And beyond that, her two sons are in the physical custody of a man—their father—whom Elsa and I and many others believe to be a pedophile who abuses Elsa’s sons daily and in a variety of ways: sexually, physically, mentally and emotionally.

If my research is correct, I believe there are literally thousands of women and children in situations like this--or similar situations: a mother who has tried to help her child or children and protect them from abuse by a male parent is too often not believed, too often punished by the courts for believing children she loves.

And yes...it occasionally happens to men, too. Perhaps a divorced mother's new boy friend is abusive. In this case, the father may be the one disbelieved. There are, however, more mothers than fathers to whom this happens. For reference, please see the book The Hostage Child by Michelle Etlin and her co-author.

Am I saying that our American justice system sometimes errs in the results it produces in the courtroom? That is exactly what I am saying. Or rather, I am saying that said justice system frequently errs in the results it produces. I have read that as many as one in seven inmates are innocent of the crimes for which they are committed. That is possibly a bit high—but after researching the Elsa Newman case and reading The Hostage Child, I believe that statistic falls well within the realm of possibility.[
