Oh, never mind. Seriously, I don't want to know! ohmy.gif

I'm not prolific. Back in the '80s I used to only play half-orc fighters in AD&D because I wasn't creative enough to play other characters convincingly.

You're the cartoonist aren't you? You're saying you're not creative? *I'm* not creative! I work with computers. I sit at a pc and once in a while have to get up to mount a tape, put tapes away or get out some tapes. For variety, I sometimes help cover the printers, just to get away from the tapes.

That's not creative. But it is a life. A sad and pathetic life, but a life none-the-less.

No, what0now0toons is the cartoonist. I'm really bad with my hands. I had to admit that to myself several years ago in community college when I had a project building a printed circuit board from scratch.

I'm an unemployed electronics technician. I worked as a pc technician, but really I wasn't very good at it.

You COULDN'T have been a PC tech, because there has never been in the history of time a tech who admitted they weren't very good at it! Did you ever know one who didn't think that they were the best, or near the best, and everyone else was a bunch of clowns?

Speaking as a customer who doesn't know much about computers, but who has nonetheless had to teach people who were actually HIRED to work on mine, I want to thank you for breaking the tradition, and for getting out of the game.

Like my politicians, I would love it if more techs were willing to just say "I don't know" when that was the truthful answer.

Wow, Stein, I remember you said this over on NovaM board. Unbelievable. Eggy takes a bow to history and to Steinmetz for being so, so . . . thoughtful and observant, and anticipatory. I remember I wrote down 12:10, but my clocks could be off a little.

Thanks everybody for the congrats. Now. Will Lila still like me? tongue.gif

Oh, I'm still not over the shock of losing that board. I'm still quite sad about it all. But they can't erase our memories - can they?

The Marie Antoinette Action Figure

Marie Antoinette's reign as the Queen of France was clouded in controversy. Her extravagant lifestyle led many to believe that she was not worthy of the throne and eventually she became widely despised as the epitome of incompetence and frivolity within the French royalty. During the French Revolution, Marie was stripped of her crown, imprisoned and beheaded by guillotine in front of a cheering crowd. This 5-1/2" tall, hard vinyl figure features amazing "Ejector Head Action," and comes with a removable plastic wig and dress.

Quality over quantity m'dear. I remind you that the speaker at Gettysburg before Lincoln gave an hour and a half speech no one remembers. Lincoln spoke for 5 minutes and those word ring down the centuries.

Now for something completely different.

This 5" tall, hard vinyl Sigmund Freud action figure comes with a 26" round nylon parachute with a rubber harness. A Modern Parable

A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (Ford Motor) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.

On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing.

Feeling a deeper study was in order; American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.

They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.

Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the 'Rowing Team Quality First Program,' with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was out-sourced to India.

Sadly, The End.

Here's something else to think about: Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US, claiming they can't make money paying American wages.

TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US. The last quarter's results:

TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses.

Ford folks are still scratching their heads.

A monk on his journey home came to the banks of a wide river. Staring hopelessly at the great obstacle in front of him, he pondered for hours on just how to cross such a wide barrier.

Just as he was about to give up his journey, he saw a great teacher on the other side of the river.

The monk yells over to the teacher. "Oh master, can you tell me how to get to the other side of this river?"

The teacher ponders for a moment, looks up and down the river and yells back. "You already are on the other side."

The 5 Most Needlessly Complex Terror Plots in Film History
Cracked.com

Real terrorist plots tend to have two steps: blow stuff up, take credit. Maybe if they're feeling creative they'll blow themselves up or light their shoe on fire first.

Action movie terrorists, on the other hand, like their plans to have as many interlocking steps as possible, like an intricate Rube Goldberg machine of death and maniacal cackling. Since we have entirely too much time on our hands, we're saluting the villains who contrived the most needlessly convoluted terror plots in action movie history.
