This reminds me of the places where the cars roll uphill... if we took these phenomina and used them to creat a situation where the backwards energy could be used to create energy in a senario like the one pictured then energy used could create more energy... and there you go!

This is one of my favorite Frida Kalo paintings.
Initially one might think it is pornographic, but it is only Frida's interpritation of the pain that she feels after suffering in the bus accident and being in a full body cast because her back was broken.

This is the one which raised my awareness of Escher. I had seen Escher pictures before, but it wasn't until Larry Niven mentioned this work in Protector that I was AWARE of Escher.

Escher? Nonsense. This is the Colver City DMV office!

(The office in Van Nuys is similar, but in color.)

Wish I had a pic, but I don't. Back when Great Western bank existed, they used to place enormous brass Remington-like sculptures in front of their branches and office towers.

At the branch in downtown Glendale, CA they installed two wild horses, enormous things that are actually quite beautiful. One is rearing up, and the other has its legs slightly bent as if it's about to make a rapid turn, both with manes flying.

Thing as, as one drives up the main drag in downtown Glendale, you approach the statues from the side and it LOOKS exactly as if the one horse is mounting the other. I remain convinced the artist did this intentionally, and suspect he or she spent some time in Glendale. Over the years it has resulted in many cases of the vapors, offended little old ladies calling city hall and the PD demanding SOMEONE be arrested.

Great Western is gone, but the statues remain.

Dali is good, but Magritte is better:

"Golconda"

"Portrait d'Edward James"

"La Trahison des Images"

"La Clairvoyance"

The latest "giveaway game" for the St. Paul Saints was not the usual "bobble head" doll. Instead, the Saints gave the first 2,500 fans arriving at the game a "bobble foot" doll. It purports to be a bathroom stall from the Mpls. St. Paul International Airport with a pair of legs and feet in view that are on springs - apparently a "wide stance." The feet do jiggle.

Saints add a bobble to bathroom humor
By Tim Leighton
St. Paul Pioneer Press

The St. Paul Saints have tapped into another zany promotion.

The team that brought fans "Minnesota Vikings Love Boat Night,'' "Randy Moss Hood Ornament Night'' and pigs that deliver baseballs between innings plans a "bobblefoot" giveaway Sunday night to commemorate National Tap Dance Day.

The first 2,500 fans admitted to the Saints' game against Fort Worth will receive a contraption in the shape of a bathroom stall with a foot that peeks out of the bottom and taps. The team swears it only wants to honor our nation's tap dancers.

That claim comes from the same marketing whizzes who gave away Michael Vick chew toys on the heels of the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback getting into legal trouble for dogfighting.

In its news release announcing the bobblefoot promotion, the team takes satirical pleasure in noting, "It doesn't matter if your tapping style is done with a wide stance or is used as some sort of code.''

That's a reference to Idaho Republican Sen. Larry Craig, who pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct after an undercover police officer arrested him for allegedly soliciting sex in a bathroom stall at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport last summer.

Craig allegedly used a foot-tapping Morse code in the incident. He later said the tapping was the result of having a wide stance.

"It is up to everyone's interpretation,'' said Sean Aronson, the Saints' director of broadcasting and media relations. "The majority of the feedback we are getting is very positive. We welcome any feedback positive or negative, but in this case, it has been all good.''

Aronson said the team has not received any complaints or grief from Idaho.

"It's actually been quite the opposite,'' he said. "A news reporter that covered the Larry Craig story called and thought it was a fun thing to do. We are sending them some.''

Next up for the Saints will be assisting in the selection of a president.

"Whenever the Democrats can decide on a candidate, we will get going on the 'Bobblehead Election,' '' Aronson said.

Bobbleheads of the nominee from each party will be available at a game later this season. As fans enter Midway Stadium, they will choose which candidate they want.

"Politics is huge news,'' Aronson said. "It is not our stance to make light of things. It just happens.

In the past, the Saints have also offered a Michael Vick doggie chew toy, but another team (Milwaukee Brewers) offered "Rectal Exam Day."
