What time frame are we looking at for being considered "classic?"

!950's I'm sorry I did'nt put it in before.

You know, I don't think I've ever seen a 1950s sci. fi. movie. None come to mind. Except maybe Plan 9 From Outer Space which I bought for $5 for the novelty of owning one of the worst movies ever made.

Being a Steve McQueen fan I would have to say the blob then.

How'z about the original 'War Of The Worlds"?
LilaTheGreat
Planet of the APES was cool!

1968, not 1950s.

I listened to a recording of the original airing of the War of the Worlds. It was awesome.

I voted "The Blob," but my real favorite is the original "Invaders From Mars."

Plan 9 From Outer Space.

"Inspector Clay's dead! Murdered! And somebody's responsible!"

"Future events such as these will affect you in the future."
Peg2929
Body Snatchers-no happy ending. ..always scared the hell out of me.

If you want good, "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

If you want bad, it's a toss-up between "It Conquered the World" or either of the "Attack of the Fifty Foots". In some ways they were so bad that they compel you to watch.

Lest we forget, "It Conquered The World", was also referred to in the Frank Zappa song, "Cheepnis".

Can't forget one of the best guitarists of all time. Saw him live4 times!

I have the Fifty foot woman on tape. I think I'll put it in now.

Wish I had the fifty foot man. I love the girlfriend "Glenn, put the bus down"!

Since it's almost forty years old, I think THX 1138 qualifies as a classic; and it is more relevant today than it ever was. The latest DVD release features some added CGI effects to show scale of the underground city. I don't think it was necessary, but at least it was not distracting.

My partner loves that movie - he has the director's cut. I find the movie incredibly tedious.
