Can I get a hallelujah?
I have nothing but respect and admiration for Melissa Etheridge. She's a real voice of strength.

QUOTE (Frank Herbert - The Litany Against Fear)
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

Love her music, love her stength, love her spirit.
She is fearless.
Haven't seen her show, but I love that she starts with, she was just a smalltown girl who faced hypocrisy.
Dance Without Sleeping is one of my favorites, still.

Edit: I meant to quote the Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear previously quoted by pestone. But you knew that.
How'd we get onto Dune from Melissa Etheridge?

I saw her in concert once...years ago. Before she "came out of the closet". Loved her then....love her even more now.

Universal love is a good replacement for fear.
But I don't seem to see the "leaders" of this world paying any attention to that.

I love her voice. She has such a strong and vibrant voice that I want to cry when I listen to her sing.
I have a confession, as a rule I am not a big fan of the female voice. I tend to prefer male vocalists, but Melissa and Sheryl Crow are two very major exceptions. I could listen to them sing all day and never get tired of their voices.

"they say" a woman hears in the pitch that they hear themselves hear in. men hear themselves as well hence not liking say barbra streisand (where women "tolerate" or hear it better)
kinda makes sense imo but please don't make me back it up.

That was a real good interview and I'm glad my lunch break coincided with it so I could hear it. She really is a beautiful person through and through.
And that Melissa/Tipper/Al Gore story was funny as hell! Can't remember hearing it before but I'm sure it would be funny every time.

MELISSSA!
I saw her concert years ago (Your Little Secret tour). She's amazing.
From the moment I first heard her I just fell in love with her. Her music and her passion have always "spoken" to me. It's like, if I could sing/write songs I would do the same material.
I've told my sweetie for years, I'd "switch teams for Melissa." *grin*
Aside from the fangirl wanking...I do have to say...I think her latest album is her best...and I have all her albums.

I saw her a couple times, but this show should be outa this world.
This CD is one of her BEST!I'd like to see her, but she is too far away from me! She's in Austin, TX Wednesday, and Dallas on Friday. There is no way I can get the concert and get back to work!
Back in my younger days I woulda skipped work to go to the concert.

In looking at Melissa's tour dates, SHE WILL BE IN DENVER DURING THE CONVENTION. I heard a caller on Stephanie Miller's show the other day say that she attended a recent concert and that Melissa changed the lyrics of "What Happens Tomorrow" from saying "I believe a woman can work hard and succeed And we could be content
To believe that she could be in charge
Of the free
And be the president"
to a black man. THIS SONG WOULD BE PERFECT FOR OBAMA'S THEME SONG for the rest of the election.
I am hoping she will be performing it live at the convention with the new lyrics. Being as she is tight with Al Gore......WHY NOT !!
If not now, when
If not today then
What happens tomorrow
What happens tomorrow
If you become the change
You want to see you change
What happens tomorrow
What happens tomorrow

I'm blogging from Denver during the convention and I've got a ticket to The HRC event ROCK TO WIN with Melissa & Cyndi Lauper Can't wait...I saw her when she played the Grand ole Opry house in Nashville several years ago. She was great then and if she has the same drummer she had back then he just blew me away too.
She gives so much from the stage...so thrilled to be going...

Gotta say that until Randi plugged Melissa's new CD "The Awakening" back when it first came out we really didn't know much about Melissa Etheridge. Just on Randi's say-so I went and purchased that CD. Listening on an awesome sound system in the dark I gotta say we were absolutely blown away. Fast forward to last Sunday (August 24, 2008) where my partner and I attended Melissa's concert in Seattle (we were the bearded RED bears in the first mezzanine dancin' in our seats and obvious to all, having a GREAT time!). She played for three full hours without a break and it was one of the best concerts we've ever attended.
When she performed the song What Happens Tomorrow we didn't have to wait long to find out what she was going to do with the part about "I believe, a woman can work hard....and be the president". She seamlessly changed the song to "I believe a black man can work hard...and be the president" to which the audience erupted into prolonged cheering. It was awesome! Melissa RULES!
