Good news, the CA Supreme Court gave the thumbs up to marriage equality. Go to GLAAD to read more. You can also read the summary at the California Supreme Court website.

CA Supreme Court

Brace yourselves as religious groups in CA are already swarming to stick a ballot measure on the November ballot to overturn this, so the battle is far from over. But a positive sign.

All the more reason why California is critical in November. Obama must win and if there is a measure on the ballot to oppose gay married it must be defeated.

Well, ya know that the religious wing-nut Christian dominionists have already gotten something like 650,000 signatures to put a ballot measure up in November. But the signatures haven't been checked yet. Hmmm. Soliciting signatures for a political ballot measure in churches? Sounds, like some churches need their tax-exempt status looked into.

Yup- it's the old abortion, guns and gays thing....

Say, what better way to permanently purge California of the conservatinfestation than to put up a proposition that simultaneously:

1) prohibits any discrimination against sexual orientation
2) permanently installs abortion as a medical practice
3) bans handguns and severely restricts hunting weapons

Trifecta. And if it passes, we'll shovel the dung outta the state real fast.

ABQ
Congradulations on Californias allowing gays to be tormented in matrimony.
If it's the same til death do us part, you may want to keep gun ownership on the table.

I think ABQ is just cranky.

For the GAG (Gay And Green) weddings:

1. Promote your eco-friendly awareness in the invitation. Highlight how the wedding theme and design are going to be unique, and increase guest's interest in learning more by providing details of how you are coordinating the affair. Mentioning that all wedding gifts will receive a matching donation to a specific charity, for example, might encourage more donations as part of your wedding gift program.

2. Select an organic menu. This doesn't have to be completely vegetarian, although there will be as strong emphasis on local produce; fruits and vegetables in season, along with farm-friendly meat and cheeses can offer a variety of gourmet food options for your entire wedding party.

3. Insist on sustainable fabrics and materials for your decorations and apparel. You'll find plenty of organic cottons and other goods online; there are also multiple charity organizations that allow you to 'recycle' the wedding attire by renting or purchasing a previously worn dress or tux instead.

4. Choose pesticide-free wedding flowers. Seek out locally grown and seasonal flowers as much as possible. You can also look for wildflower bouquets from local farmers and other outlets in your city or neighborhood. Or, try a miniature potted plant as a wedding favor.

My congratulations go out to our Pacific coast neighbors in California. Change isn't easy and fear is contagious. This time though, I think there is a very good chance that the attempt to change the state constitution will fail. The queer-fear card has been mostly played out. Sure, there's a lot of religious types that are freaking out. Even many of them may calm down in a few months.

I say if we want liberty and justice for all then do it. ohmy.gif

Legalize gay marriage
Legalize prostitution
Legalize cannabis
And let us keep guns legal too

I am very happy that the State Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage. I wonder when same-sex marriage will be in the books in California.

Now, I hope that the conservative-backed Limit on Marriage Initiative will be defeated. I am so tired of these bigots trying to prevent me and other gay people from having rights.
