Hillary's Brother Meets With McCain Campaign

August 20, 2008 11:56 AM

What the heck is this about?

The Scranton, Pennsylvania, Times-Tribune reports that on Monday, the top economic adviser for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Carly Fiorina, met with Tony Rodham -- the younger brother of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY -- and some others, including Rodham's wife, at the Dunmore, Penn., home of a political consultant close to the Clinton family, Jamie Brazil.

Brazil is now national director of Citizens for McCain.

This news comes just a few days after former President Bill Clinton praised Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for his position on global warming.

Boy, I can’t imagine why anyone would think the Clinton family is trying to defeat Obama so Hillary can run in 2012!

Clinton's office did not respond to a request for comment.

Hillary is dead meat if there is even a hint she tries to hinder Obama.

Plus, Obama I'm sure is prepared for a turncoat Hillary. He's still win even if that evil 10% of Hillary's base stays disloyal to the Dems.

How so? She's $20MM in debt after losing the primary. What more does she have to lose?
RandiLover
She has a Senatorial pension if she loses her job. She has an exPresident who makes a nice living. She has her influence to get a job and make money. I worry more about America than I do about Hillary's debt.
egghead
Yes, if she even tries anything everyone would turn on her with pitch forks and torches. And she should say goodbye to any political pipe dreams she may have.

Of course if she is in the play to win type thing (risky gambling - gulping another shot of vodka) then there she goes and the various sirens on the mountaintops have not been wrong in their warnings.

Otherwise, this could be another coroporate media attempt to keep the fires lit and burning darkly. Money trumps peace . . .

sometimes.

(there, I've covered all my bases in this continuing speculation tongue.gif )

Whatever's left of her mind dreaming of her days as the Queen!

Actually caught a bit of Fox w/ Clinton rep denying there was "anything to it" just a an acquaintance of Hillary's brother who is a McCain supporter. Of course the news model screeched there HAD to be something to it foaming at the mouth. Then I had to take a shower!

From your website:

QUOTE
“Obviously, I favor Senator Obama’s energy positions, and Democrats have been by and large the more forward-leaning actors,” Mr. Clinton said. “But John McCain has the best record of any Republican running for president on the energy issue and on climate change.” He added, “I’m very encouraged about where the presidential rhetoric is in this campaign.”

So what he was saying was that the rhetoric from both camps is a step in the right direction as far as the environment goes. McCain does have a better handle on the environment than Bush does, its just not as good as the Dems.

Just like Bill said.

What's the problem?

I can think of only a few possibilities:

1 - Not true

2 - True, but Hillary has nothing to do with her brothers decision

3 - True, and Clinton has lost her mind.

4 - True, and Clinton has figured out a way to make this work for her

5 - True, but she is actually willing to sacrifice herself for some other purpose as yet unknown.

6 - True, and this is a play by the GOP to cause a major shift in the Republican party itself and maybe even wining the election. I know it's an impossible thing to consider, but imagine the potential storyline of a Republican party with the Clinton's (the best "Republican" President in over half a century) in serious positions of power.

6a - Similar to 6, but the reason is that McCain has a soon to be exposed "election ending" flaw, and they now HAVE to try something desperate, not to win the election, but to save the very GOP itself.

Just brainstorming ... personally I lean to somewhere between 1 & 2. Although I wouldn't mind #6 as it would have the possibility of moving the whole country a bit more to the real "political center".

And it appears that her brothers have been a longstanding embarrasment for HRC.

Seems you cannot pick your family.

How about the other possibility that they are both neo-Cons/Libs and have the same agenda?

A possibly? I assumed it as a fact. That's why I even considered that the Clinton's in with the Republicans. biggrin.gif

Of course, given a few different circumstances I could say the same thing about quite a few Democratic politicians, including Obama.

Being that this is the STRANGEST election year I have ever experienced, this scenario seems possible to me... ohmy.gif

How about the option of:

Clinton praising McCain gets the far right wingers even madder that McCain is their candidate.

I agree; getting a Dem in the White House is only half the battle.
