Nada on the message. I feel like Obama forgot about me. huh.gif

Of course I only signed-up for an email - not a tm.

BUT there's a cute message there, in that he sent the message at 3 A.M? No?
BlackWidow
Whoever in his campaign felt that 3:00 a.m. was the appropriate time to send out the damned text is a total fucking moron.

How anti-climactic can it get?
brotherdavid
It was a brilliant stroke. In one swell foop, Obama alerted the Blackberry generation that his will be a techno-savvy candidacy, that younger voters can be in the loop, and he kept a whole lot of people up all night and the MSMinistry of Disinformation scrambling around itself to scoop and confirm, just for a veep announcement. The fact that for a week "Who Will Barack Pick?" has been a major source of conversation in Oceania is a coup in itself, and the "leak" meant that Obama/Biden grabbed the headline/banner placement on the front page of many a Saturday news daily.

Swell sum up David. The 3 A.M. moment was a message that we the people are part of that 3 AM. moment too.

(And I like your signature picture. I think I'll borrow that for a while, if you don't mind and put it in mine.)

(I'm watching Ann Richards (span) giving her famous speech, speaking of Barbara Jordan, another great lady.) Oh, and this: "After all Ginger Rogers did everything just as good as Fred did, she just did it backwards and in high-heels!!" HI-larious!!

Nah, they were just doing their best to keep their promise. They'd been planning for a Saturday morning release of the message, but when the leaks started they rushed it out before EVERYBODY heard it first from the media.

What, don't your read or listen to ANY of the reports available all around you to get the facts?

But of course. After all, Her Randiligence is dedicating all of next week to the irreplaceable Rep. Tubbs Jones. The more reminders of Ohio's Lioness, the better (though it does get me misty and moist-eyed). sad.gif bowdown.gif

I was grumbling about the fact that it all basically was known by midnight CA time last night, but you put it in better perspective, brotherdavid. thanks!

Yes we can!! smile.gif

I thought it was wonderful that Obama paid tribute to her in his speech today. Lord knows the media could not spend a minute on it, but they can spend hours on Britney's breakdown.

I mean, this woman had a remarkable career by any standard of measure!! (I get misty eyed too.) Oh well.

Exactly. Anybody thinking that it's some kind of a Hillary reference:

(1) you're reading way, WAY too much into it. Come down to Earth please! , and

(2) is apparently unaware that the "3 AM" commercial was quite a long time ago in political terms and therefore it's more than a bit silly to think it would be in any way related to that old commercial, and

(3) The United States covers SIX different time zones -- four for the contiguous states, plus Alaska and Hawaii -- and I hate to break it to you but no one of these time zones is more important than any other. (Provincialism, anybody?) For every one person who got the text at 3 AM, there were far more people living in any of the other five time zones who got the text at whatever their own time zone said the time was.

Oh, probably more than six time zones, as I'm sure there were Obama supports of the "Democrats Abroad" flavor receiving texts everywhere from Guam to London to Krakow to Perth... not to mention a lot of Obama supporters getting their text message while sitting in the bleachers at the Olympics in China!

Actually, I disagree. I think the text went out at 3 a.m. as a direct slap in the face of the Clinton campaign. I mean, we all know that she is sitting by the phone at that hour ready to lead. sarcasm.gif It was 3:00 a.m. on the East coast and Washington DC (and New York) are both in the Eastern zone.

Nothing in a campaign is done without deliberation.

I am somehow torn on this one though. On one hand, I kinda like him for being such a dick and have an appreciation for that in a strange way. But on the other hand, I think it is going to irk all of the Jilted Hills even more.

And it wasn't. They were deliberate enough to know that the choice had been leaked and the people who signed up for text messages to "be the first to know" were getting irritated, so they rushed it out.

Besides, the text message was dated Sat Aug 23 1:55AM for me, Pacific Time. If you count that as 2 AM (even though it's not), that's 3 AM Mountain Time, 4 AM Central, and 5 AM Eastern. I was awake at the time, and grabbed my phone immediately when it arrived.

I still have the text. It says

oopsy on the thinking department . . .

McCain uses the 3 A.M. reference now.

Hillary is old news.

Besides, she took a hatchet to her own reputation just to win.

Talk about not putting her country first.

Anyway, her behavior during the primaries is what I call masochism.

I didn't make the connection of the "3 am" call. That's hysterical. But I think it was probably just a coincidence. In either case, I'm relieved at the choice (thank the goddesses it wasn't Bayh...) so now we can move ahead and start kicking some ass.
GaryWTrott
I'd thought that this was a great idea by the Obama campaign to give it's supporters a very special consideration, and extra little "thank you" for putting him where he is today by making them the first to know who the VP nominee would be. Unfortunately they didn't follow through with their plan and released the information to the media long before text messages were delivered to their supporters. Or maybe it was just a "leak" like is being reported...we'll never really know one way or the other.
