During war and fighting, expect that both sides will exaggerate the actions of their enemies, and minimize whatever they have done.

If there's a time to double check claims, it's definitely when they are coming out of a war zone.

From my admittedly unobjective POV, it looks like both sides (Georgia and the Ossetians/Russians) may have failed to properly avoid harming civilians.

Will either be charged with war crimes? Doubt it. Has never happened before with conflicts this short.
