I'm thinking of coming to Madison, WI at the end of September. I've always wanted to visit the city (no particluar reason, it just sticks in my brain) and there's a couple of towns (Grafton and Port Washington) that are important to a blues history geek like me, so I'd be driving up there, basically to see a sign where Paramount records started.

It would just be a long weekend, probably 25th thru the 29th or there 'bouts. I have a standby Southwest ticket and I'd fly into Chicago Midway and drive to Madison.

What should one see while in Madison/surrounding area? Better/worse places to stay? It'll just be me going, if that makes a difference. Any good vegetarian restaurants? Anywhere I can get within underwear-throwing distance to Russ Feingold?!?!?! laugh.gif

How 'bout good places for live music??? Either folk/bluegrass or loud rock.

B&B's aren't out of the question, although I don't need overtly romantic places rolleyes.gif
If I can find a nice place for under $80 a night, that'd be swell...

Can anyone help a sister out???

THANKS!!!!

On purpose? Man, fly a little further and visit Michigan instead! We have nicer beaches.

Rottmom- I'd love to visit you and your critters someday...when I drove to CA from NJ, I mostly took Rte 40 in the south and I'm super curious about your neck-o'...talking to y'all here and seeing where you're from surely adds to it.
