This morning I got up and took the kids to school. Came home and had some breakfast in front of the t.v. I was reminded of why I hate watching these 24 hr "news" channels. I swear it was all so predictable. Pathetic even. I spent an hour yelling at the screen and bouncing comments off my wife. I changed to other networks: same thing. Big "clean" coal sponsor, big pharma, big insurance, big weapons contractors... big big big money behind a misinformation campaign and an underlying strategy of republican messaging disguised as reporting. I had forgotten that Michelle spoke last night because all I was hearing about was "a Hollywood Invasion into politics" and "should entertainers have a political opinion" and black conservative number 3 (with curly hair this time!) spearheading the latest talking points of the right. Hillary's statements during the primaries being used to discredit Obama. The commercial is getting mad play. Commentators wearing ridiculous mics to look like sports commentators instead of the political hacks they really are. A campaign aimed at white men (according to them, McCain's strong spot) to shore up his weak numbers.

They are going full throttle now that the conventions have started. Now that people are paying attention for this brief period before they sleep again until mid october, we get a preview of how the media will barrage the right's strategies upon the viewer. The racism is there, the assassination suspects being waved off as "yahoos" while the black officer interviewed was much more serious. If this was an attempt on a white candidate by black nationalists or black muslims it would not be waved off so nonchalantly. It would be all over the news all day for weeks. By the way has Homeland Defense put the KKK or the Aryan Nation on the terrorist list yet? Just curious. Because old ladies and war protesters have been o the list for years and the last time I check about a year ago, nobody could confirm these guys were even considered terrorists. Burn crosses, drag blacks behind vehicles, hangings, burning churches, shooting liberal churches, I could go on... bottom line is when are we going to see these white racists be marginalized and punished like the criminals and terrorists they are? Nothing to see here! This snake has no head! Just gun charges! Everybody go home! Hey!! Look! A white girl lying about her missing daughter!! see it tonite on Nancy Grace!! Move On!!!

I know this is a rant. So what. Bottom line, don't let them blame Hillary for you. Don't let the sleepy masses buy into this scenario the republican-controlled media is trying to create by dividing our votes and voices. This is more proof of how weak they really are and they are obviously going to take all the most desperate measures they can against a growing swell of discontent with the status quo. Never let them lie to you and tell you these guys are tied and it's a close race. Know that AMERICA wants change but don't take it for granted, fight as if we are always 10 points behind. Tell everyone you can about the truth about media and the republican party. I am a fervent supporter for change, don't let them rob you yet again.

I just tuned into to CSPAN, listed as "DNC Convention" in the online guide. When I got there, it was McCain, bashing Obama. Off.

Is Tim Russert's son a reporter? Why did he go to school for? All of the sudden he is reporting on MSNBC, interviewing people, etc etc. I thought he was like a sport guy. Didn't he use to co host a sport radio show with James Carville?

I loved your rant, mi amigo. You hit it spot on, and very well, to boot. I don't really watch tv, my life revolves around radio, simply because of I do for a living. At night, I might watch Olbermann, but usually, I fall asleep first. There is no media any more. Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather were the last of the real jornos. Russerts kid got a job out of sympathy, and if it were me, I'd turn down the job out of respect for my dad. Simply put, he knew what he was talking about, was still a shill, and I don't want that, but money talks.

They announced a few weeks ago that the kid would be covering "the youth presence" at the Convention. Not sure about prior experience... around the time of Tim's death I thought I heard he was a fresh-out.

Fox's Convention Pool Coverage... Camera Bias?

Many people don't know that Fox got the contract to provide "pool coverage" at the Democratic Convention. This means that EVERY network is broadcasting the convention using footage from Fox's cameras. Fox controls where the cameras point.

A lot of people are calling in on Progressive Talk with their observations about the people who the cameras show during speeches. Particularly when Michelle Obama gave her speech last night, by the people who the camera cut to, it looked like she was speaking at Rev. Wright's church. It did not reflect the true demographics at the convention. The few times they did focus on a white face it was someone who was grimacing or looked bored.

Did any of you notice this?

And now you remind me that it's Fox trying to "coon scare" the shit out of white america. It makes sense when you think about it. She was right and so are you. We need to write or call Howard Dean's ass ( I think it's him) and curse him out for letting the enemy control the cameras. It's a shame and I blame the DNC leadership and organizers for this.
