All of ya nay sayers about the Kennedys need to remember that if old Joe, the father of these boys, had not backed FDR, we would not have had FDR to pull us through the great depression, and after that the WPA, the New Deal, and so on.

And now .. .. he's literally willed a new era in by his total devotion to Barack Obama.

Let's hope he won't go any time soon, and stick here with all of us for a while.

Eggy darling,

Ted may yet out live us all.

I can't even imagine a world without him in it.

He was my Senator from 1981 through 1990. I remember him as being very involved locally as our Senator. I saw him once on Boston Common at a fourth of july celebration. Like I passed him walking on the sidewalk, there to see the concert along with everyone else. So cool.

Yeah, I hope he outlives Robert Byrd even, but I couldn't help seeing all the worried looks in his family's eyes.

We surely do need him now more than ever, and if anyone can pull through it is he. Falling down and not getting up is not part of his mantra.

Am hopeful that he sticks around too, and confounds his physicians.

As to an era ending with him, the swarm of nieces and nephews on that podium last night with Uncle Teddy, not to mention Caroline's unprecedented involvement in a political campaign, suggests that a new Kennedy generation is upon U.S., primed to take liberal action.

I was thinking as he was speaking that when he passes it will truly mark the end of an era.

It is incredibly sad that Neo-Conservative Greed supplanted The New Frontier, but Teddy never stops trying and we can't either.

To me it's amazing all the benefits that the Irish Potato Famine has brought to this country beginning with the Kennedy clan! smile.gif
