I was up until very late last night, watching CSPAN testimony from Iraq and Afghan U.S. Veterans from the Coalition of Veterans Against War telling the facts of their experiences from these two current wars. Every member of the current Bush Administration SHOULD see and read their testimony; then be forced to endure two weeks walking in their BOOTS, in country on patrols, etc., doing what they had to while serving our country.
The Veterans Administration has been steadily deteriorating since Vets began returning from Vietnam. The people who work in Washington for the VA should be held accountable because their job performance is truly questionable. And no one seems to be held responsible for the deplorable conditions U.S. Veterans face when they return from fighting wars directed by U.S. Presidents (i.e., Walter Reed, suicides, domestic violence, etc.). We MUST do better for the new generation of soldiers who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
I am married to a U.S. Marine Vietnam War Veteran who never received any PTSD treatment even after two 18 month tours in active war zones. His VA education benefits had been reduced to the point that when he wanted to attend college, he only qualified for tuition as a part-time student in Community College. His medical records mysteriously disappeared during a fire in Leavenworth so there are no records of the injuries he sustained after being blown up twice. My husband still can not discuss what he went through during his time in Vietnam, but he still has nightmares. He has found ways to cope, though not in a healthy manner, he withdraws completely within himself until he once again suppresses the memories.
Soldiers today NEED Better VA Care than those that came before them. After all this is the 21st Century.
And as one vet said...We they American people are responsible for what is happening, just as much as the President, Rumsfeld, Chaney, etc. And he is right.

Thank you Goddess!Please look into the Union education, they will train you while being an apprentice. If you are a veteran they will bend over backwards for ya. I suggest that you become an inspector with one of the Operator/Engineers union halls. You will get treated WAY BETTER than being a worker. I am a licenesed plumber and pipefitter, and a Los Angeles City Inspector, I have belonged to both unions. I am now a practicing Inspector and get to see my old bosses shake in their boots till they realize I am not like them. You will get a retirement package and benefits. The guys will bow to him realizing what he went though. He needs to let the brotherhood help him back into society, he needs friends and brothers to look after him, and train him for a better life.
