We have a lot of new members coming on, in addition to the old members. Here's a spot where new and old can get to know each other.

Hi, Glad to be here on Randi's message board~!! wink.gif
disfigured
I already did here: Hey folks......

I'm not very poltical, so you probably won't see much of me.

But I am getting angry about the economy so that may make my fingers fly across the keyboard more then normal at a place like this. Not that I'm doing bad, I'm not, but it's always better when things are looking up, or at least steady.

I finally found the board after I heard Randy mention it today. Its good to be back.
DoctorDi
I am Diana (my friends call me Di). I live in Randi's neck of the woods, in Palm Beach County, FL. I have been listening to Randi since the 90's when she was at WIOD in Miami. I lived in Broward County (Fort Lauderdale) back then.

The Hubs and I have a small web development company, PagePartners Web Publishing. We work from home. We just want our country and Constitution back, the Iraq war to end, the troops to be taken care of and accountability in government. (Oh...and we want Turd Blossom in jail - along with, of course, Darth, CondiLiar, the Chimp and others. We need a big jail, maybe Halliburton can build it for us - not!)
TruthisnotDogma
I am Rooster and am currently hunkered down in da UP.

I am once a Marine always a Marine......although the last time I was once a Marine was 20 years ago.

You heard of bleeding heart liberals, well I am a make a neo-con bleed liberal. Not literally of course, I try my best to be a pacifist these days.

I am pro gun but not pro NRA. I look at most NRA members I know and think these are probably the last clowns I want packing heat. I have no problem with an assault weapon ban. Any civilian that feels they need a weapon designed to kill large quantites of humans probably shouldnt be totin one. I've gone retro lately and have and have a serious crush on old blackpowder. Hawken baby. I could even be tempted into compound bows but I dont make that kind of money.

Spritually I am not so uptight as a Buddhist yet not quite as laid back as a Taoist.

I drive a pickup, I eat meat (my goal being only consuming small amounts that I harvest myself from the wild), and am madly in love with Randi.

I primarily come here for the wonderful information being provided, but I will chime in on occasion.

About me:
I am a telecom bedouin/mountain man/writer and a Brother of Equal Indignity of the Ancient & Honorable Order of E. Clampus Vitus, a society of drunken historians or historic drunks depending on who you talk to. I have semi-circumnavigated the globe in both directions and been everywhere from San Francisco to Singapore to Port Said to the Cote D'Azure. As a kid, I sold the local newspapers in the same bar Jack London hung out at in the 1890's as a member of the Fish Patrol. I went from being tear-gassed at People's Park in Berkeley in 1968 to helping maintain America's nuclear deterrent arsenal and I embrace all the contradictions within that statement. My wife and I run a writing group at msn groups called Universal Writers Group. The web address is as follows: http://groups.msn.com/UniversalWritersGroup We have been named the top writing/critique group on the internet for two years running by Writer's Digest Magazine in their annual survey of the top 101 websites for writers on the internet. No small feat considering we have been up and running for only 2 1/2 years. I am currently working on the stories of my Father's experiences as a Merchant Seaman during World War 2 with the working title of, "Tales of the Inadvertent Pacifist". As my Daddy used to tell me, "Just remember son, no matter where you are at sea, you're never more than 7 miles from land...straight down.

Left coasting in Seattle, I now work swing shift so I can't listen use the board to keep up. I'm a union geek father of two (one far left adult one special needs teen). I am also probably the oldest guy at the bar at Studio Seven for Punk and Psychobilly shows-when I've got enough vacation to skip a night. My wife is the semi offical mom of that whole scene. You know your old when you go from "my girl used to date the door man, to my wife teaches with the door mans mom.
Sinisterblogger
Hello - I'm a 29 year old blogger from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I've been listening to Randi for quite some time now, but it wasn't until she moved to Nova that I finally ventured onto her message boards. Randi is one of the most intelligent and passionate thinkers on the progressive airwaves.
Seeker1
It's a new board, with potentially new people, so maybe this time I should answer the question more seriously than I did last time.

I am a college professor at the state university here, teaching sociology and anthropology. I also dabble in computers, real estate, and various forms of culture jamming.

I'm from Miami, Florida, and I have to confess I didn't hear Randi when she first started broadcasting locally in SoFla because at the time I was elsewhere, but I definitely started listening to her once she started on AAR, and now Nova-M.

Most of my research has been on indigenous people (primarily in North America) and their uses of technology for cultural preservation.

I am unapologetically Jewish.

I have been active in politics for most of my adult life. I don't have memories that go back to the sixties, as I was born later, but I've been active both in Democratic and third party politics since I first started voting, alas for none other than Michael Dukakis. I was born on an election day, the same day a dear friend of our family became state treasurer, so I guess this is inevitable.

TapDuncan
Hi everyone! I am Tap Duncan, named after an outlaw that rode with Butch and Sundance. It was his alias, his real name was Harvey Logan. Anyway, my wife and I run a ranch where we raise Quarter Horses, Arabs, and Angus Cattle. We also raise chickens for eggs. oh and goats too. Check our critters thread for more info on our zoo. We have been doing this for a combined total of 75 years. I found Randi when Scare America first came on, and fell in love with her show from the first day. I have met many great folks here and a few jerks, but they never stay around long. Most of my pleasure is taken up by making fun of Bushwa because he is over 100 years old and still insists on siring children. I served in the USMC 86-91, 0311. Welcome to the best board around (Like I would know)

I have to come into the house every day at 2pm to catch the show and mouth off here, then it's back to work.

P.S. I love Tequila
LilaTheGreat
Hi folks. I'm Lila the great.

Once upon a time, when I was radding on my new XM rad io, I heard some awsome truths coming from my rad. Low and behold it was the RANDI. Ranting on my rad. It wad radi- cool! Now I'm stuck on Randi on the radio.

As for me, I was in the Army, and now I work for the state.

I like to write songs in my spare time, and post on the RRMB. I'm also a squatter and lurker on a few other boards.

YOu can check out some of my tunes on www.myspace.com/lilathegreatofficialsite
Go check it out and leave a comment. Lovit or leave it!
I also try to talk with as many who will listen about the "War on Drugs", and how wrong it is.
We need to change the laws and stop prohibition.
Prohibition didn't work with alcohol and it is not working now.

Prison is the new slavery and the drug war is putting people in jail with mandatory 20 year sentences where a child molester will get only 5 years.

READ or listen to the sites posted in my signature.

Welcome, Maggie. Personally, I'll be looking forward to your take on MLK's closure, and MAYBE you'll join me in contempt for those ivory tower bastards, the County Supes?

But in any case, welcome! Now, will you look at this thing on my neck and tell me what it is?

I'm an old, bald, white, male-type person. Mother French, father Irish/English. Math/computer science training, used up a couple decades ago. Corporate executive, retired. Married twice, wife Japanese / American / native American. 5 kids between us, 6 grandkids. I'm caregiver now for one of the GKs, age 4. Strategist, dreamer, idealist, loner. Politicized since 9/11, turning socialist. Need something to sink my teeth into.

I'm a musician who moonlights weekdays from 9 to 5 as a graphic designer.

I first heard Randi around 2003, about the same time I first heard Mike Malloy. I don't remember where, but it was pre-AAR. I was a mod on Mike Malloy's board for a few years.

Howdy! I may want to say things in here that aren't for consumption by the general public, and a bit of anonymity can help with that, so y'all can just call me Stagger - lots of my friends do already, anyway.

I'm 54, white, male, straight and married to the most wonderful woman in the world for nearly a third of a century. When we first met, her parents forbade her from ever seeing me again for the rest of her life - TWICE! I will now admit that I won her over, basically, by stalking her. If I weren't married, however, and had never met the woman that I am married to, I'd probably be moving down to FL to start stalking Randi, because I find strong, intelligent and buxom women INCREDIBLY attractive.

All of our children (my wife has given birth to two sons) are, unfortunately, deceased. One was stillborn, the other drowned at a waterfall 4 weeks before his 20th birthday, shortly before 9/11. My Hebrew name is now on two headstones, but I stubbornly continue to walk this Earth.

I was born Jewish (though I don't practice any organized religion since my son's death) in Brooklyn, NY - Randi sounds JUST LIKE EVERYBODY from my old neighborhood (bounded by Kings Highway, Clarkson Ave., E. 92nd & E. 94th Sts.)! I discovered Randi on AAR about 3 years ago. Discovered AAR at my brother's house, while he was watching Al Franken's Radio show on one satellite channel or another ... was it Sundance? ... who remembers? Anyway, I came for the Franken, but stayed for the Randi - and the Thom.

I am an unabashed and unashamed Deadhead - I attended 172 Grateful Dead shows between 1973 and 1995, and still go to SEVERAL jamband-type concerts annually. For example, I've spent the last 5 New Years Eve weeks at the Beacon Theater, for multiple Gov't Mule shows.

I work in Bergen County, NJ as an Engineer for a privately-held firm that makes electronic instruments for data acquisition and signal processing. I like to tell people that I write hardware (which, essentially, is the truth) just to watch their eyes bug out. My wife and I own a home with a paid-off mortgage (YAY!) in Orange County, NY. Lucky me - I get to pay income taxes in 2 different states!

I love freedom, the Constitution, and human rights. I DESPISE LIARS, particularly those who lie to themselves!

YAY!!!

glad to be here all

watching Leahy give the oil execs all hell right now

i'm from Colorado and have been listening to Randi for 3 years

excited to "Politicolize" with all of you LOL!!
PopgoesthePagan
Hi, just joined; but have been listening to Randi since last January. I love her enthusiasm, her honesty and her absolute big heart.

Randi didn't say anything but the truth in her standup; and obviously the !#$@ who bought AAR this time around weren't at all interested in the spirit it has stood for all these years. All they care about is their bottom line and "controlling our assets"; just like every other mindless, bottom-feeding media outlet in the US. I knew Randi would land on her feet and find a new mic soon; she is too tenacious and has too much to say to us!

Anyway, I live in the Great State of Iowa, which sent off Obama's campaign with a historical start. I was an alternate delegate for our county and regional conventions; was actually seated at County. This campaign season is the first time I've ever donated to any candidate, and I'll be further involved in both the Presidential, as well as our Fifth-District Congressional races; Steve King has got to go! Say Amen, brothers and sisters!

Hope to meet some of you and chat a bit.

Hi. I'm captainkona.

Many moons ago Randi's first sidekick, the great Tim Allen, labeled me "Resident Asshole" of RRMB. I have since exhausted every possible effort to live up to such a distinguished designation.

There are many strong, capable "Assholes" here at RRMB, but I am the only Official "Resident Asshole" so accept no imitations.

I am here to disturb and upset you. To disparage and neglect you.
To make you shout my name in ire.
It's my job to harass you, to ridicule and be crass to.
It's my duty to leave you distressed and emotionally afire.

So if we meet, be it sour or sweet, take refuge in knowing the truth.
I am here to defile you, to rebuke and revile you.
There's a reason I wasn't dubbed "ruth".

Hiya.
I registered at AAR just before stuff hit the fan. I had also just renewed my XM subscription for several years. Was I fuming! Even one of my kids asked "what are we going to listen to now?" I turned on AA and Roseanne was hosting, I said definitely not that and put on Deep Tracks. A few weeks later while I was driving my son to his guitar lesson, I looked at him and said "I wonder what kind of idiot AAR has replacing Randi this week." The voice, that's Randi!
I first heard Randi driving through Florida. I was surfing through channels trying to find something to listen to. I found her and listened until I lost reception. When I got my XM I happened across her one day and remembered that voice. I have been hooked ever since.

hey, first joined the board in Feb of this year. I live in northern MN. I grew up in a religious cult and had a Bush Sr poster in my dorm room in highschool. Yikes, times have changed. I have been in sales and sales management for the last 15 years. As for my views, I come from all over the board. I am not simply a partyline guy. This board has been great, in that, you tend to get all sides of issues.

Hello, I am new to these boards and have been listening to Randi since the beginning of the year. Up until I started listening to Randi I was pretty disillusioned from the whole political process. Born and raised out here in the middle of the great Pacific ocean on the islands of Hawaii. We largely go unnoticed by the rest of the US mainland. I remember the first time I ever voted, it was the 1992 presidental race. I was literally waiting in line to cast my vote and it was around noon-time when it was announced that Bill Clinton had won the presidency. And though Bill would prove to be a rather good president, I was faced with the reality of how my vote never counted, stepped out of line and went home. With the exception of my own state's local elections/local politicians, I have never cast another vote. Then I started listening to Randi Rhodes and was re-educated and when Hawaii held their primary election earlier this year, I proudly went to the polls and cast my vote. smile.gif

Bonjour Randi! Hi everybody! biggrin.gif

I'm writing from France--one of those Americans who live abroad! I absolutely love Randi's show, but usually I have to download the podcast because Randi comes on kind of late over here. And it's hard to call in to the show from France.

ABOUT THE PRICE OF GAS: Here in France last week I paid 5.50 Euros for a gallon of gas (that's equivalent to $9.35 at the current dollar exchange rate!!) So enjoy gas at $3.95 while it lasts! Since G.W. Bush took office 7 1/2 years ago, the value of the dollar has fallen over 50%! Way to go George! Just crush that dollar into the ground!
I have NOTHING positive to say about the Bush administration!

WATCHING THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARIES from Europe is interesting. I feel like I get an overview by being further away from the fray. In the US we get so involved in the little nasty day to day stuff between Hillary and Barack that sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees. rolleyes.gif

I'm a HUGE Obama fan! He's my guy for President!! smile.gif RUN BARACK RUN !!

ABOUT HILLARY'S LATEST GAFF: you know, the Robert Kennedy in June 1968 thing.
Maybe we should all just take a deep breath and let it go. It’s just too weird. I just can't go there.
The pundits run everything that’s off color up the flag pole and then fly it around ad nauseum. They did the same with Barack and Jeremiah Wright. It’s all done just to get our panties in a twist. That's what makes news, right? That's the name of the game.

I'M SO TIRED of this democratic primary I could cry! I just wish someone would lead Hillary away by the hand and put her in a nice soft bed for a rest, away from the cameras so she can get a little perspective. blink.gif

I was left OPEN-MOUTHED when Hillary compared her effort to seat Florida and Michigan delegates to epic American struggles, including those to free the slaves and win the right to vote for blacks and women. Bless her heart! Somebody help her! ohmy.gif

I'll tell you who I really CANNOT BEAR: that idiot, Hillary’s Campaign Chair, Terry McAuliffe. What a slimy little hypocrite he is! Gives me the creeps! dry.gif

ABOUT THE DEMOCRATIC TICKET: I DO think there will be an Obama-Clinton ticket in the end. I really do. I know all us Obama supporters are more or less fed up with Hillary’s nasty tactics, but if she could leave her parallel universe and come back to earth, she could be a real winner with Barack. That would probably be best for the unity of the Democratic party. If Obama and Clinton pool their resources, we could have a real kick-ass government in place. biggrin.gif

Thanks for being YOU Randi! Hugs! smile.gif

Well hey there...I've lived in Sacramento, CA for, heck, almost exactly 17 years, driving across the country from Hunterdon County, NJ.

During the day, I'm a data entry monkey, but it's casual enough and it allows me to listen to Randi and post on the board, at least biggrin.gif

I'm also a musician, avid fan of the early blues era (yes, and as my avatar suggests, a Keith and Waits fan too) and play in a band that covers those tunes from the 20's and 30's with a bit of twang in there as well:

Hard Clumpin' Litter

Turn ons: truth, justice and Russ Feingold
Turn offs: The Bush Administration and uh, illegal war.

I am so enraged by what has become of our government and the world's perception of America - all due to GOP greed, corruption and blind hatred - that I am devoting every second of my precious spare time between now and November 4 to ensure that We The People take back this country from the Blood-for-Oil Republicans.

If, unlike the neo-con fascists, evilangelicals, hate-mongering racists, war profiteers, and other McWorse supporters, you are interested in forging America's future, instead of clinging to its military-industrial past, please visit my website:

Hi all...Deb here, code name VOXPOP (from the Latin vox populi: Voice of the People) Randi listener for long time, old board member but seldom poster.

I am the mom of a son who served our country for 3 years, spent 2 tours of duty in Iraq and was discharged honorably and with numerous awards and medals. Paul has been called back twice since his discharge; the first time I appealed to our representative who was able to have his orders rescinded, the second time assigned him to a unit for redeployment. He now refuses to go back .....the military is looking for him as I speak..er..type! I am proud of his decision and support him. I hate my government for doing this to a historically honorable military family in which each generation has served since the civil war. I can no longer support our government’s use of the military and support the shift from the Department of Defense to the Department of Peace. I am ashamed of my own military service under Reagan.

I love all the intelligent debate on this board, AND I am the worlds worst speller so don't hurt me please!! tongue.gif

Oh yeah...and a former Realtor from Michigan who is suffering terribly economically......as are many here unfortunately.

Hello. I started posting on the original RRMB back in 2002 or 2003. I'm not a fan of Randi's but I like political debates and had a fun time on the old board for the most part. And what better time to talk politics than now, with an election on the horizon and a primary still going on (thanks to the media).

I'm into sports (mainly basketball and football), gaming (World of Warcraft and other stuff), film (some of my favorites include To Kill a Mockingbird, Rear Window, The Godfather, Brazil, and Raging Bull), reading (I'm into fantasy and sci mainly such as George RR Martin, Philip K Dick, Glen Cook, Tolkien, etc), music (my tastes are kinda wide, from Nas to Fiona Apple to Blind Guardian to Portishead), trolling message boards, and politics.

I started the primary season as a Biden fan, then moved to Hillary. She has run an embarrassing campaign for a few months, so I stopped supporting her awhile ago. I like Obama, although his hardcore fans annoy me more than hardcore Duke fans.

Hey all. Played here back in the good ol AA days but not much. I do reference here often though and am a dedicated listener to Nova M. I've been an activist for many years and I'm raising warrior children.

I play fairly often in another message board on the internet dating website political forums called plenty of fish. It has great posters from all over the world so we get posters from all walks and political persuasions. Its a riot so come stop by!!

I'm 41, been in radio since 1984 (but, then again, aren't we living in 1984 now?).

In addition to a real job that takes up most of my time, I also own a talk radio network devoted to science fiction entertainment (www.adastraradio.com).

Since I arrived in South Florida in the late 80s, I've been listening to Aunt Randi from her days at WSHE (BROW-ARD!!!) through WIOD, WJNO, when it was a REAL radio station (local hosts from Lee Fowler late morning, Randi at noon and Jack Cole at 3pm), and through the Airless America and now at Nova M.

Like Randi, I supported Reagan, joined the Air Force (but they medically discharged me a few days in- asthma), and got into radio at an early age (no repo duty, though). But, I have voted Democrat since 1996 (I supported Perot, which inadvertantly was a vote for Clinton, in 1992), and have become increasingly liberal as I get older. I did not get involved in this election until the first debates, noticed that Clinton and Obama were the ones to beat, and suggested the possiblility of a Clinton/Obama ticket (this was May of last year). It wasn't until Obama's victory in Iowa that I realized that someone who's not in the pockets of the PACs and the lobbyists is a better choice for the Democratic Party than someone whose hands are dripping with the blood of those who died worthlessly in Iraq. I did like her husband, though.

Unlike Randi, I am a straight, fat bald middle-aged white guy, and God knows that she's had her share!

I live in Boynton Beach. My sister, who is an LCSW and a lifelong Democrat (for whom I credit as saving my life) is a Clinton supporter- and that makes for fun fodder for conversation!

Oh, I've also been drinking the Kool-Aid that is "Doctor Who" since 1980.

I'm in my 50s, live on the West Coast and worked at a major newspaper for over 37 years until I was laid off by the corporate jerks who run the place a year and a half ago. I now do some part time writing and lecturing (not on politics) and may write a book some day. I've been a political freak since I was a teen -- I volunteered for the campaigns of RFK and local Dems back then. I also was involved with a peace group in the '70s. Today, my political involvement is arguing with stupid cons on a rightwing board, but the frustration of their ignorance and bigotry -- as well as the incredibly repressive atmosphere -- has turned me here. I listened to Randi often when she was on Air America.

The dark shadow of the Ray-guns era does seem to be hanging over us, but it all seems more 1973 to me...

We have a lot of new members coming on, in addition to the old members. Here's a spot where new and old can get to know each other.

I am so happy that we are all together again! I am an old member who has not been able to post as much as I want to due to my schedule, but it sure feels good to be back. Here's a toast to all of you new members!!! Glad that you are here with us... martini.gif ( I like mine with vodka and three olives, straight up!) cool-smiley-030.gif
