We all know who Sarah Palin is by now. She's McNutty's VP pick. So far, she appears to be just what the Repigs ordered. She's very Conservative and 'possibly' likes to take advantage of her power as an authority figure.

I wonder if she's a distant cousin to Stevens? LOL

Palin: Staffer pressed Wooten firing

Posted: August 13, 2008

JUNEAU — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says a recently discovered conversation recording one of her staffers pressuring the Department of Public Safety to fire a state trooper who went through a bitter divorce with her sister will be turned over to a legislative investigator.

Palin has been under heavy criticism since firing former Department of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.

Monegan claims he felt pressured by Palin's family and administration to fire Trooper Mike Wooten, who divorced Palin's sister and has had ongoing child custody battles.

Palin Wednesday acknowledged a conversation was recorded when Frank Bailey, her director of boards and commissions, called a trooper station complaining about Wooten.

She says she never asked Bailey to make the call, even though she says the recording may sound like Bailey was acting on her behalf.

The legislature is investigating Monegan's firing and whether Palin abused her power.

As of August 16, no subpoenas were drawn up into the investigation so far. I wonder what influential changes may take place, since Palin was selected as McNutty's VP today?

Subpoenas uncalled for in Wooten matter

Legislators have decided subpoenas aren't needed in the investigation of whether the governor or her aides improperly pressured the Public Safety Department to fire trooper Mike Wooten.

The House and Senate judiciary committees were going to meet with Steve Branchflower, the investigator hired by the Legislature to look into the issue. But Branchflower isn't having any problem so far interviewing anyone in the Palin administration that he wants, said state Sen. Hollis French, who is overseeing the investigator.

Sarah Palin Governor of alaska, Who is she from what we already know about her?

McCain Picked Palin because Hillary didn't get in and it wouuld be the second time a Presidential candidate selected a woman vice President. Walter F. Mondale did it in 1984 and lost to Ronald Reagan in a landslide only getting Minnesota and the Disrict of Columbia.

If the cards are played right McCain could lose in a landslide to Obama and I wish that could happen. Bush ruined the Republican party and ruined it bad. It's fime we have a great man in there like Obama and Joseph Biden would be a great vice President and they have my vote in November. hands down!

It'll be interesting to see if the investigation of her by the Alaska state legislature now quietly disapears.

Make sure that Bob Barr knows about this. It would be a great boost for his campaign among Republicans who can't stand the kind of culture Rover has introduced into their party.

I don't think it can disappear now. I think now there will be more oversight since she is in the spotlight. The MSM will ignore it for sure, but look out for bloggers and liberal newspapers to keep an eye on it. I say she goes down in flames, and he blames her for losing.

Don't forget the Libertarians. They have a candidate running for President, too. He's already known and has a lot of admirers among Republicans. Still has zero chance of winning because he is not a good team player anymore, so why not drop a post or two on Libertarian blogs and link them to Republican sites to give old Bob Barr a hand attracting a few Republicans to switch allegiances?

If you are in a state that does not require registration by party and have not made yourself known as a Democrat or Libertarian or whatever, write to the chairman of your state GOP and shriek about the corrupt twit McSame wants to nominate for VP. A little dissention on the floor of the GOP convention would be good for the country. Their biggest virtue has always been that they are seen as better organized than Dems, thus more trustworthy to lead a nation at war. Pull that rug and see how many of them fall on their asses.

Or pull out the table cloth and watch their Tiffany crystal ware shatter into pieces like their party has!!!

It turns out she's "the right kind of Christian". You know, the ones who break the law but who have committed no crime because they are above man's laws and the US Constitution.

According to Palin's version of events, they had a slam-dunk criminal case ..... why get him fired, put him in jail - if it is true; and not just family members conspiracy for a divorce !!!!!

But they have not ! Isn't the Govn. sworn to uphold the laws of her State ????

She alleged she heard him threaten her sister and their father's lives ????? _____

Apparently this guy was already investigated and punished.

According to the Commissioner, that is why he didn't see the reason for either the firing or the rush to fire.

It had already been handled.

But don't think for a minute this is going anywhere.

This will be a Rove problem to handle, and you can be quite sure that people are being approached and deals are being made.

They see this as a non-issue and they will very much make it go away.

What's even more interesting now, Palin has lawyered up. It's nice to know your running mate has such a supportive base.

Palin Hires Attorney For Trooper Inquiry

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Sept. 1, 2008

(AP) Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, is being represented by an attorney in the investigation into the firing of her public safety commissioner.

The Legislature is investigating whether Palin fired public safety commissioner Walt Monegan after he refused to fire a state law enforcement official who had divorced Palin's sister.

The governor's decision to hire the attorney was disclosed by the Legislature's investigating committee on Monday, not by Gov. Palin's office. The committee released an e-mailed letter it had received from Palin's new lawyer on Friday, the day McCain announced she would be his running mate.

"We have been hired to represent the Governor and the Governor's Office" in the investigation, Anchorage attorney Thomas V. Van Flein wrote. "We fully welcome a fair inquiry into these allegations. ... Please know that we intend to cooperate with this investigation."

In July, a legislative oversight committee approved $100,000 to investigate whether Palin abused her power in firing Monegan.
