Where we, at the pizza company I'm not going to name, hand out "Remember 9/11" bumper stickers out to our customers.

I, personally, have a problem with sending a statement that should create solidarity; but has been used more often than not to incite hatred out to my customers at the door. But, it's something I have to do since I enjoy being employed. Besides, if the company owner wants to send that message out to her customers, that's her perogative.

I would get giddy if I had a customer that refused to take one, though, if they had the same ideological reason why I'd rather not hand them out. But, so far no dice.

The leader of the local gay rights meetup group has pretty much told us through email how to deal with people going from door to door spreading their prop 9 BS. I'd rather not deal with those wackos though. tongue.gif

I hated having to sell something to customers when I worked retail and/or restaurant. I don't mean food or whatever the department I was working in sold, but all those extra things that no one really needs, like cocktails at noon or desert.

People know what they want and if they want it they will ask for it. "Suggesting" it cleverly hidden in pushing whatever it is onto them never works and only creates a hostile atmosphere.

What does 9/11 have to do with pizza? No one around here hands out bumper stickers asking people to remember 9/11. I think people will remember it all their lives, its kind of the sort of thing that leaves an imprint on your life. Like us old farts and when Kennedy was assassinated.

I'm not entirely sure, I'm just hoping it's not an example of using a tragedy for marketting. I know there are some customers who like getting those stickers, I'm just hoping we're not using them to keep those customers.

I'm probably being cynical about it, the owner does do things for charity like running in relays and just giving away over a thousand of dollars of pizza to them.

Actually a lot of small time businesses do this to help out. It is good publicity, that doesn't hurt but they don't have to do it at all.

Its also a good tax deduction.

I really don't feel comfortable handing the things out. I'd rather not disrespect the dead by handing out a, now, political slogan.

I was referring to running in marathons and donating food here, not handing out bumper stickers. Sorry, I wasn't making myself clear.

Yes, 9/11 has become a political stance and that's just wrong. Not only does it disrespect the dead but it also disrespects the families that have lost loved ones and all of us who now have to live with those images etched in our minds.

I still can't imagine what kind of pain even the month of September still brings to those families. Even though it's been nearly a decade after it happened.

It seems like yesterday, still.
