What some people are calling the best convention ever and will be hard to duplicate.

Great opening showing how she felt and her usual humor w/ the football quips - "instant replay!"

Well, she DID play great be hunks of the Obama speech, LRLA. Yes, when she started out I thought about those here at RRMB who this morning were livid that the media was talking about Palin and not focusing on last night. But I do think she honored last night quite a lot, too.

It was the calendar working against Obama in this instance, and I'm firmly convinced that, had positions been reversed (and they WILL be in 2012) the Dems will look for something to gran the media on the morning after the R convention ends.

The Repub's would have been idiots NOT to announce today, and I think they almost used up all the stupid they have to distribute this week by picking Palin.

There is one thing happening here, the dems are leading the repugs by the nose making them flinch.

It's only mete and proper that this brazenly pandering move, which nails the coffin in the GOP candidate as far as executive judgment cred goesl, receive vocal reaction by populace and punditry. It's a non-starter. She won't make it through the convention. As Gore Vidal says, we're dealing with thugs and mafiosi where the Republican Party used to be, and since everything's flipped, with the DNCC coming off with the same kind of magnificent organization that the RNCC claims for itself, my guess is that if Gustav doesn't delay the Twin Peaks of Delusion next week, it will force the Katrina issue into the forefront. It's a Harriet Miers moment --- make that a Monica Goodling moment -- and if the Grampaign doesn't ask her to withdraw, RootieTootieFreshNFruity, Mittens and Huckleberry all have advocates within the Elephantine to make a floor fight. How ironic would THAT be?

Besides, I like hearing others hammer home things like how Miss Alaska Runner-Up pronounces it "nukular," or her utter deer-in-the-headlights look whenever Grampy leers her way. The MSMinistry of Disinformation sure as heck ain't gonna debunk McSame's Bad Choice in any meaningful way. That's our job, being, after all, the media in Oceania.

P.S. Department:

Plus, it's going to go buh-bye in any meaningful way as the details about Tina Mariska Fey Hargitay's ethical investigations and other unsavory sides to her Creationist agenda wing around the Interwebs, and Obama/Biden hit the stump in their bus, and HRH HRC hits the stump in her pantsuits, and all those DNCC Mile High attendees hit the stump in their various modes of invigoration..wink.gif

I only got to hear the first part of the show today. It seemed callers were also trying to focus on the convention but it seemed to unravel. And the board seemed to be pre-occupied with it after a HISTORIC night.

There was so much content in the whole convention and Randi's personal reaction would have been the topper.

It's a media game and also a "word of mouth" game in these elections. We may have lost this round hopefully only in the short term. It may seem I'm over reacting but the race may plausibly be a dead heat and the convention was an opportunity to get across to those on the margins.

Saving grace was watching Charlie Rose discussion on Obama as orator and past presidents as story tellers such as Reagan, Lincoln. Though Obama has been weak in storytelling he was able to connect in such a huge stage and he has the internet to his advantage. That's where I think we come in and can't go for the bait. As campaign goes on the main characters and stories of past 8 yrs will be told not by the media but by the campaign and ourselves which has never been done to this extent before.

Hopefully the significance of the convention came through on rest of the show.

It did, both literally and indirectly. See, folks were so damned high after Thursday night, even when they did go off to talk about McCain's bizarre choice, it was with bemused wonderment and very good humor. Folks were certainly disgusted by McCain's craven decision, but there was a lot of joy leavening the most recent news.

Call me paranoid but she gave them more energy in her speech than McCain and Lieberman have in their whole campaign. It will pop like a balloon with the facts as Randi started today. Problem I have is media is part of the "thugs and mafiosi" more than ever.

This selection energized their base as wrong headed as it is.

Exactly! We should be focusing on how our all star team tore down every one of the boogy men they've used in the past to have us snatch defeat from victory.

Indisputably that's what the meedja will tell U.S., but I'm thinking that rich white born-again mens aren't big on wommyn in power, and remember: The Fundies base has shrunk to essentially the 20-something percent that still approves of the Shrubuehrer.

Oh, don't get me wrong -- I think it's only prudent to be very, very watchful. At the same time, what Denver accomplished, and by Denver I mean the whole, C-SPAN-logged/YouTube excerpted shebang, is invaluable for its use in the real new frontier of activism and resistance -- the Interwebs. That convention won't be vanishing so quickly as others have, and the Twin Peaks of Delusion next week will be a wash, inevitably. Courage.

Take heart -- they wouldn't be running this nutzoid if they didn't know they'll have to steal it, and if they try the unthinkable (won't even go there, though Vidal did today with Bender), they'll be up against the wrath of the People Who Have Come and Keep Coming. The neocons don't really want a revolution -- because in the end, it will bring them down quicker than any new regime in the White House.

Does anyone think there might be some kind of floor fight over Palin's nomination? The kind we were afraid would happen with Hillary? Or will they just march once again in lock-step with Grampa?

The EndTimers will lock their steps, but I'm smelling a possible floor fight, perhaps from the male delegates among the Huckabites or the Mittensians or the Giulianiettes, over a relatively untested woman being a heartbeat away from the Imperium.

Tuesday night, 26 million viewers watched Hillary Clinton's speech, nearly as many as the 27 million U.S. viewers NBC's Olympics coverage averaged per night. More than 38 million people watched Barack Obama's speech Thursday night -- more than watched the Olympics opening ceremony, the final American Idol, and the Academy Awards this year.

I think the attention to Palin is justified. She COULD be our next Vice President and COULD be the president if grampy kicks the bucket. I know I'm scared as hell over the thought of that.

Which is exactly the reaction the neoconry is hoping for.

False.

Evidence.

Appearing.

Real.

She's a spokesmodel, and may not even make it through the nominating process in Minnesota. Merely the brilliance of the Obama ad showing her with McCain but neither naming her nor attacking her, just ripping on with the McShrub line of accurate analogy, tells me that the DNC, as seldom, knows exactly what they're doing and what We're up against. Palin is a short-term, unvetted solution meant to steal the immediate bump of those incredible ratings and appealing to but a fraction of the GOP, an evangelical wing that no matter how organized now represents about 25 per cent of the entire population, so heed Randi, ignore the pundits, get involved, and don't snatch imagined defeat from imminent victory. Yes, We Can.

We are in good shape, I have no doubt that Obama understands the current situation and WILL do whatever is necessary to shine the light on the cock roaches and make them scurry. I'm sure that he understands when to fight and when to let it ride. Obama has made it this far through a mine field and will continue to the end.

Listening to Hartman this morning it's very possible. He thinks with Palin baby stories Romney may get put in. It wasn't clear whether VP or Prez but either seems possible now.

Didn't the Repug talk shows attack Obama's church saying they were baby killers and a "Rosemary's baby" church?; now they have a Rosemary's baby candidate!
