I don't really give a damn what The Cryptkeeper does, but one thing's for sure:

The Obama / Biden ticket sure will crush the Grampy / What's her name again, that lunatic religious cultist with the uterus? ticket.

I heard Sarah Palin's voice on the radio earlier today. hairpull.gif

She sounds worse than fingernails on a chalkboard. I mean, did someone hide Grampy's hearing aid?

toptier
huh.gif

I read her bio.

She's got a bachelor's degree -- in journalism

Even with that, she's not even qualified to be an executive speechwriter, much less one heartbeat away from the presidency!!

Why? Two requirements for the RNC to endorce a candidate, they must be willing to chant the far right chant, and they have to be someone who can be blackmailed should they stop chanting or have a thought of their own.
adamquestor
Why? Because it's a perfect Twilight Zone moment- those incredible moments of incredible irony. Like Burgess Meredith, as the bookworm, who survives WW III only to break his glasses before being able to read all those books.

Grampy will pass away, five weeks into his term and the most powerful country in the world will be led by a pole dancer. I love it!

It's as if Caligula promoted his horse from the Senate then passed away leaving Imperial Rome in charge of a REAL horse's ass.

I love it!

Fiction could not be funnier.

He hopes to recruit the Eagle Forum, thinking that they will have the juice to reach more people.

And there is an Eagle Forum bitch in Arizona maneuvering to replace Gramps if he becomes president.

Tell the disaffected Hillary voters that Palin has Eagle Forum cooties on her. That'll teach them real quick.
MikeyMike
Does it bother anyone else that they are playing the theme music from the movie "Rudy"? I don't know which makes me more irritated -- having to listen to this crap....or having someone try to ruin my favorite movie!

We'll learn in November how serious woman are about having control over their own bodies. We'll learn just how much they've chosen to be informed and make decisions based on their knowledge. If this ticket wins, we're all screwed. And women will take most of the blame and suffer the consequences. These two wackadoodles may tip the balance of the supreme court. And that scares me!

No, no. Fiction is funnier. This is misdirected desperation.
Now, the individual republicken reactions to this must have been hilarious. It's their "Springtime For Hitler" moment. They'll still be picking their jaws up off the floor when Pigfest in Minnesota gets underway.

Whgy are they calling Palin a feminist? She is the anti-Hillary. Eagle Forum is having an orgasm over her. WTF?

Ahem. She's unlikely to make it through the convention nominating process. Then again, so is McSame, but he's their puppet of choice. But this pick is on a level with Monica Goodling, only for the second highest staked position in our government, and it shows how desperate the neoconry has grown. Which is something to be aware of and vigilant against, but not to endure with anything other than amazed bemusement, scorn, ridicule and reportage.

Either McSame drops out due to health problems or Creationist Who? drops out of the Grampaign due to family issues, but the ethics investigation and utter lack of comparative experience won't stand with either independents or the bulk of Oceanian wommyn, to say nothing of old-school Goldwaterians. Non-starter, though terribly fun to disparage, obviously.

I mean, she pronounces it "nukular." Jon Stewart, take it away.

I asked my repub male redneck friends their thoughts on this pick and they said that it was "Bullshit". And they were tired of the politics. Heck they would probably NOT vote than to vote for a female president...er.... vice President.

So, my take on the republicans handing the presidency over to the DEmocrats on a Silver Platter:

They may THINK they are winning the female vote, but they are LOSING the "Christian White- "Man is the Head of the Hooushold" and "Eve was made from the rib which is below the head." VOTE!

It's the perfect neo-con choice. She's empty, devoid of anything other then being a passive/aggressive cheerleader for the corporations that she will shill for.

She's a spokesmodel and nothing more, nothing less. Exactly what Karl Rove wants.

The whole existence of the McCain administration is to have two puppets with Phil Graham and the rest of the cabal calling the shots. The only thing that caught the "intellectuals" of the neo-cons off guard, is that their choice would be so blatant. It really is Harriet Myers all over again.

This Republican convention is going to be nothing but the backbencher Congressmen and Senators you've never heard of. Weird governors and a slew of robots to get up there and make speeches about how socialist we Democrats are supposed to be. So I expect the jackbooted Republicans in suits and ties to fall in line. Karl Rove would not allow the convention to go astray.

Again, the ticket is sown. Two puppets on a string. The perfect Republican ticket.

I've been saying the same thing. It's a theological/Biblical issue for these SBC cruds. They will never move past it until they are in the grave.
Jellibeenz
Clearly, there is a greater scheme at play here!!

Let's consider these options, perhaps McCain is thinking that he brings Palin on as his VP because having Condi Rice on the ticket would only serve to distract because of her deep involvement in the Bush presidency, so why not Palin? No one has heard of her so it will take more time in the next 60 days to dig up any real dirt on her. Right?

#2 Palin becomes the shield for McCain. Gender and race will be even more touchy for discussions. It's more likely the "mom-card" will be played (ie. She's a soccer mom, member of the PTA, has 5 kids etc,.) over the race card which could ultimately hurt Obama. That's what the Republicans want. Take some of the shine off of their campaign. It's all they have at this point, let's be honest.

#3 Palin is not actually a VP in waiting, but a simply placeholder. Let's just say that McCain is President (Lord help us), Palin decides for "personal reasons" to resign from the VP office. This gives McCain a chance to replace her with someone of his choosing - but not elected. Consider that for a moment.....what options might he choose?

I'm shuddering at the thought.

Oh yeah, what is the definition of "executive experience" anyway?

Obama managed for the last 19 months, not to mention his senate experience to organize millions and millions of Americans as he puts it - from the bottom up to come together and win key and some unexpected primaries during the hard fought campaign.

Republicans, did you see Denver? What about Germany? 90, 000 plus people to see someone "running for political office". Unbelieveable.

While this experience may not have been in the Governor's house, it's certainly more than the 300, 000 some odd people in Alaska, and oh yeah and a couple of moose.

...give me a break!

a great post from the Democratic Underground:

Governor Palin, I sincerely thank you.

"Your words today did what nothing else could have done. All over the Democratic world, I see people who opposed Clinton and people who supported Clinton joined together in mutual outrage that such a coattail-riding nothing as you could compare yourself to Senator Clinton, and then claim that you're going to accomplish what she couldn't. I see unity, I see Democrats not hating each other anymore, and I fucking love it.

I'm guessing that McCain chose you because he mistakenly assumes that we Clinton supporters were only behind her because she's a woman. That's not even close to being the case. We supported her because she's tough, brilliant, hard-working, dedicated, and just a damned fine lawmaker and public servant all-around. The gender thing was mostly just the icing on the cake, so to speak. There are some within our ranks (not many, but some) who until recently were still rather dubious about voting for Obama. The wounds of the primary hurt badly, and left scars.

However, the moment that McCain nominated you as his running mate and you made your ill-fated little comments, you became the butterfly wings that started a windstorm. In this case, that storm didn't damage--it healed. It blew away months of resentment and hurt, and brought us all together again. People who were angry at Senator Clinton are now angry at YOU for comparing yourself to her--right or wrong, she's OURS. Clinton supporters who were hurting over the primaries are now furious with YOU for pretending that you're even fit to stand in her shadow, much less take her place in our hearts.

Governor Palin, let me be plain. You are a joke. You're a hyped-up beauty queen with practically no experience. You're in the midst of a scandal because you abused your power as a governor in order to get a bit of revenge on someone who refused to cater to your pathetic and petty nepotism. You're a woman who wants to strip away the bodily autonomy of your fellow women--a traitor of the vilest sort. You're only on the Republican ticket because Hillary Rodham Clinton worked her ASS off to convince America that a woman CAN be tough enough to lead this nation. Love Clinton or hate her, nobody can deny that she's tough as nails; her historic primary run, controversies and all, certainly made sure that the vast majority of America now believes that women ARE tough enough to lead. If not for the work she did in changing the status-quo mindset about what women are capable of doing, YOU would not be where you are today.

I have witnessed the careers of Senator Obama and Senator Clinton with admiration, frustration, and a deep sense of gratitude for being born in time to see all of these wonderful changes happen. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton brought more positive change to America during a PRIMARY than the Republican party has been able to muster after a GENERAL election win. We know Senator Obama and Senator Clinton; they are part of us, and we are part of them. John McCain is no Barack Obama, and YOU are certainly no Hillary Clinton. But in comparing yourself to her, you did what many of us thought could never happen--you brought Obama and Clinton supporters together again. Thank you ever so much--we appreciate it.

John McCain and Sarah Palin, be aware--you are standing on the tracks, and the Democratic train is coming. Oh yes it is. We are united, we are Democrats together, and we are unstoppable. The wisest thing that either of you two nincompoops could do would be to get the hell OUT OF THE WAY.

Kitchen sink? Get ready for the whole goddamned kitchen."

Do you think Palin would go along with this? After all, she is already Governor of Alaska. She has to give up that position to be McCain's Veep. After resigning for "personal reasons," where would she be then? She wouldn't go back to being Alaska Governor. She'd be demoted to Mrs. Nobody from Juneau. Sorry, I can't visualize this scenario. I can't see her throwing everything she built for herself away to be merely a "placeholder."

McSame has actually picked someone who mirrors himself in every way. Anti-feminist, anti-worker, mean-spirited, thinks the world owes her something. No clue on how the ecconiomy is working or not. Clueless on foreign policy, clueless on military strategy or history.

Hey, doofus! You're supposed to pick someone who has positives where you have negatives.
