Your answer just underscores what the Conservatives think of this country and our government. To them it is a circus act, a carnival, a game. It's serious business that requires serious thinkers. It's not a game...
Just had this discussion with another friend.
She was absolutely flipping out (and she's voted Republican since Reagan, I might add), asking me if I could "imagine that woman making national security decisions?"
I answered, "Between you and me, I'm trying NOT to imagine it."
I shudder to think about her finger on the button.
Post Cold War, people have forgotten that our entire arsenal AND the Russians are STILL on a hair trigger. What if Putin lobbed something up without consulting us amidst this Georgia mess? If our air defense doesn't know what it is, within 20 minutes of a detected launch in Russia, our nukes
AUTO launch unless the President stops it. That actually happened in reverse in 1993 when we launched a satellite from Norway and somehow the news of it hadn't made it to Russian High Command. We came a mere 3 minutes from full-on thermonuclear war when Yetsin put a stop to the countdown.
Think about Bush in that classroom onn 9/11. That alone was 7 minutes. But what is less known (except on the RRMB, of course) is that he spent another 20 minutes screwing around with photo-ops at that school before doing anything.
Now put Alaskan Barbie into that sitrep and swap in some nukes.
In all seriousness, if they try to rig the vote, and she gets in, we're in a world of hurt. I was worried about Mccain, but this chick is positively terrifying. She's so out of her depth, it's unbelievable.
And my God, what does this say about McCain's judgment? You KNOW this was a total PANIC move following Obama's speech and all the Convention events last week. In his reptilian brain, "affirmative action" really DOES mean hiring a less qualified candidate simply because they're a minority. So he saw what he thought people wanted, and reacted with a political gimmick, not with the kind of serious analysis that says, "What if I die? Who am I leaving the country to?"
To me, it's more proof that for him, this isn't about leading the country, it's about his overwhelming desire for raw, naked POWER.
And anybody who wants power
that much, is precisely the kind of person who shouldn't have it.
