Full Version: It's a Panic Move

It's not about this Palin person. She's less than an irrelevancy.

It actually IS about what happened last night.

The contrast now is so stark, and Team Republican looks so ridiculous, that one can't HELP but laugh.

Her selection was a PANIC MOVE.

They were in Chuck Todd's words, "stunned into silence" at McCain Headquarters not just by the success of the speech, but the flawlessness of the entire convention CULMINATING in that speech, AND the overwhelming reaction of the crowd and the shear SIZE of the crowd (knowing full well they're having trouble filling a venue of 18,000).

Their's was a reaction of knowing "Oh shit, we're FUCKED," and SCRAMBLING.

The news isn't Palin.

The news is that the He-Man Woman Haters Club picked a chick as VP because Obama beat the shit out of them last night.

It is historical, however.

Palin is the most unqualified person in the history of our nation ever to be picked to run as a vice presidential candidate...

Damn. Do you know how hard that was to do?

I mean, Quayle? Agnew? Did I mention...Quayle?

Yeah, Republicans have a real talent for do the worst thing in history with EVERY decision they make.

And all their decisions are based on fear!

Right now, they're pissing their knickers, at getting thumped, and so they made YET ANOTHER dumbass decision because they're afraid of losing power.

And you know what? In this case, they SHOULD be afraid, because they ARE going to lose power. biggrin.gif

Here's my take, they wanted a permanent majority, and yet, we are the ones who look like they will get it, IF WE LEARN HOW TO FIGHT BACK!!!! They have always fucked the people for the benefit of the corps., and maybe, just maybe, the middle class is starting to get that, but shit, how does one become become middle class, and yet, be so fucking stupid over and over again? Maybe now, they'll wake the fuck up America. (DK)

while not really arguing with your perspective...it could just as well not be a panic choice (which would be some kind of excuse, actually, like when you reflexively pull back from grabbing something hot, and end up elbowing someone in the face..only this time, you manage to elbow your OWN face?)...it could be even worse, in that they must have PLANNED this...in fact, didn't McCain say he had made his choice last week?...or even earlier?..

the former mayor of a town of 5000, 18 months as governor of a state with a smaller (and awash in high oil price revenues now) budget than NYC (AK=$10B, NYC=$59B)...Rudi Giuliani must be going out of his mind...wheeeeee!

this is the best day in YEARS!

Perhaps the GOP hierarchy is deliberately trying to lose this sElection to relieve themselves of the immediate multi-directional challenge of having to clean up the results of their last 8 years of disastrous rule.

Go ahead, dismiss the pick of Governor Palin as panic. It does, however, put several new balls into the air all at once.

Can the illustrious Senator Obama successfully juggle and catch them all at once ............. ?

Maybe he will .............. if he doesn't panic .................

BD--Exactly, let's lose and criticise the clean up job. That's how they work, they only cause problems, they don't fix them, but they DO criticise the clean up effort, unless it's a hurricane, then they defend it. While people die.

I think it could be a throw away election cycle for the Repukes.
The only political party more hated than them is the Nazi Party.
Maybe they figure that after another 8 years of domestic prosperity and regained leadership in the world, the American public will have forgotten about the Bush Misadministration.

Well of course they'll criticize the clean up of their mistakes, but that doesn't mean they won't try to win.

But you've always got to remember with the Republicans, that they never really WIN -- they make nonsensical insane decisions, then they steal it, when they don't earn it.

In the meantime they'll pull every bizarre thing they can out of their ass and throw it at their opponents because problems for the country or no, they always consider themselves safely above the problems they cause -- if only they can secure enough money and power. Then to hell with everyone else.
TapDuncan
5X5--That's always good when the office isn't on the line, but this time they've run out of gas, literally, and they know they've lost, so they will cut and run, and leave Mcrazy swinging in the wind, so much for unity and friends. I'm glad I have rid myself of rw whackos in my life, it's a lot easier. They only care about themselves, no matter what they say to your face. My parents are, sadly included in that group. And my da's a jew who lost almost his whole family to Hitler, yet he votes for Hitler, talk about arrogance.

Knee-jerk reaction is never wise, hence Palin Pick and Grampy's entire candidacy.

Conversely, presuming that McSame and UnBaked Alaska even get through the nomination process, it's not inconceivable, as Randi's last caller today noted, that the situation with Rootin'Tootin'Putin' and Georgia On Shrub's Oily Mind will be orchestrated into full-scale conflict by the neoconry and the MSMinistry of Disinformation toward the perennial Self-Fulfilling Prophecy of October Surprise.

You are so right. I'm so proud of my wife of 30 years. This year more than ever she's gotten involved with politics. I have tried for years to get her to but she always just took my advice and I didn't like that, as I told her she has a stake in this as well as I do and I could be wrong. This year she saw what I was talking about and watched the convention (on CSpan) and made up her own mind. She came to me this morning and asked what I thought of McCains pick for VP. Before I gave my answer I asked her if the choice made a difference to her. She said she was insulted and thought the GOP was pandering to women for their vote, I agreed. I love this woman. wub.gif

The reality of a monumental loss wtf.gif is staring them in the face. Decades out of power again, what else could they do but pander to the PUMA's. Of course the Pumas were their own design, their way to create disillusionment in Hillary supporters and tell them they can't vote for Obama because he beat their candidate. Well they have been telling this Puma lie so long horse.gif that they have come to believe it, and in a panic they choose their rofl.gif beauty queen candidate.

You can try to ridicule Obama all you want, what is worse is that the RACISTS will come out full force in this election and vote against Obama just because of his race, even though they know that this country will not change under McCain. The economy will get worse, we definitely will have another war started and you will definitely began to see the reality of $7 a gallon gas.

But furthermore, you will see a DRAFT. Because the real story is that Georgia in the middle of night did a sneak attack and Russia retaliated. Georgia's President obviously had had some agreement with McCain and either assumed or was told that the USA would use force to assist them.

McCain did not a chance to do much physical fighting in Vietnam, so he still has this undeniable hunger to go to war to first and talk later.

Your answer just underscores what the Conservatives think of this country and our government. To them it is a circus act, a carnival, a game. It's serious business that requires serious thinkers. It's not a game to those who are homeless, or those who don't have health care. Our environment is not something to be toyed with for your own personal gain. Conservatives want to use our government for their own personal gain and then preach to us about patriotism.
Sen. Obama will not only catch them all but will throw them right back at you and make you eat your words.

Just had this discussion with another friend.

She was absolutely flipping out (and she's voted Republican since Reagan, I might add), asking me if I could "imagine that woman making national security decisions?"

I answered, "Between you and me, I'm trying NOT to imagine it."

I shudder to think about her finger on the button.

Post Cold War, people have forgotten that our entire arsenal AND the Russians are STILL on a hair trigger. What if Putin lobbed something up without consulting us amidst this Georgia mess? If our air defense doesn't know what it is, within 20 minutes of a detected launch in Russia, our nukes AUTO launch unless the President stops it. That actually happened in reverse in 1993 when we launched a satellite from Norway and somehow the news of it hadn't made it to Russian High Command. We came a mere 3 minutes from full-on thermonuclear war when Yetsin put a stop to the countdown.

Think about Bush in that classroom onn 9/11. That alone was 7 minutes. But what is less known (except on the RRMB, of course) is that he spent another 20 minutes screwing around with photo-ops at that school before doing anything.

Now put Alaskan Barbie into that sitrep and swap in some nukes.

In all seriousness, if they try to rig the vote, and she gets in, we're in a world of hurt. I was worried about Mccain, but this chick is positively terrifying. She's so out of her depth, it's unbelievable.

And my God, what does this say about McCain's judgment? You KNOW this was a total PANIC move following Obama's speech and all the Convention events last week. In his reptilian brain, "affirmative action" really DOES mean hiring a less qualified candidate simply because they're a minority. So he saw what he thought people wanted, and reacted with a political gimmick, not with the kind of serious analysis that says, "What if I die? Who am I leaving the country to?"

To me, it's more proof that for him, this isn't about leading the country, it's about his overwhelming desire for raw, naked POWER.

And anybody who wants power that much, is precisely the kind of person who shouldn't have it.

QUOTE (ttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incitatus)
Incitatus was the name of Roman emperor Caligula's favored horse. Some have indicated that the horse was attended to by eighteen servants, and was fed oats mixed with gold flake; according to Suetonius's Lives of the Twelve Caesars, Incitatus had a stable of marble, with an ivory manger, purple blankets and a collar of precious stones. Suetonius wrote also that Caligula planned to make Incitatus a consul. Caligula even procured him a wife, a mare named Penelope. It has also been said Caligula claimed his horse to be a 'combination of all the gods' and to be worshiped as such.

The horse would also "invite" dignitaries to dine with him, and had a house with full complement of servants to entertain such guests.

They win, we lose. Say bye bye to the Constitution. I really hope they eat this election with an impeachment proceeding. Obama starting a special council investigating 8 years of dictatorial powers. They will finally be accountable for Katrina. Bush pulled the funding for preparing that city! Bush pulled the FBI out of the investigation of the terrorists while we could have stopped them. Repugs are the enemy. America wakeup, ENOUGH! 10 trillion dollars and we can't even keep poison jalapeƱos out of our grocery stores. A new documentary "UNCOUNTED" is pretty good. Republicans getting the boot by unsavory NeoCon practices too (Not surprised after the whole attorney scandal in the "Justice Department.") So much evidence of foul play since 2001 (and possibly since Bush senior), yet so little MSM attention to vulnerabilities of our voting. WHAT KIND OF DEMOCRACY IS DECIDED BY OUTSIDE SOURCES!

Coz we're like the abused wife with the black eye that hears 'Bitch you don't deserve no better.' You hear it in the depressed voices of folks saying 'they're all corrupt, it doesn't matter, they all suck.' Deep down, we think we deserve it - all we ever hear is "you ain't no good, you ain't gonna amount to nothin', what kind of job you have, why your kids don't have better than YOU had, you can't pay for your house, you can't pay for your car, you're just a loser." And then you go out and vote for the one that makes you feel a little bit less than a loser. No difference, all the same. Get used to it.

Barack Obama is different. He's the real deal. Get used to it.
