Full Version: New Rule
Randi Rhodes Message Board > Main Forums > Focused Interests > VICTORY 2008

A new rule has been put in place.

QUOTE
22) Source your information. You must be able to provide accessible, linked sources for any information that you present as "fact" on the RRMB if a member requests your source or if you copy and paste part of an article. Sites that require payment or registration to view their information are not considered "accessible."

If your only source of information for a particular topic is an inaccessible site, you may copy and paste part of an article from that source provided you state clearly at the beginning of the post that your source requires payment or registration to read it and that you could find the information nowhere else.

When you provide a link to an article the link must go directly to the article. Do not post a link to a home page of a site that contains that article.

I like this rule. It should elevate the dialog of the board. We will all be exposed to new sources, those confronted with facts will have to put up or shut up.

I like this rule. Thank you.

How will it be enforced?

Damn. I came here to distribute random misinformation via creative writing and I have been stifled before I have even begun.

Seems fairly straightforward. You can have your own opinions. But have someone else's opinions and try to call them your own and you may face consequences. And it's been proven time and again that if you try to use someone else's information as your own someone somewhere on the forum will call you on it.

Well that's pretty cool. No more having to argue it's "SOP," "the norm around here," or "the way we like to do it."

Sorry. Not intended as a personal retort. From your posts I can assume you mean no harm in terms of sourcing bad information. My reply was intended more for those few who would presume to use bad sources disguised as their own opinions as a way of skirting the rules around here. wink.gif

I remember another community activist and a governor. The community activist wanted fair treatment for all, and for all peoples to be judged by the content of their character. The governor wanted privileges based own the color of their skin. I personally prefer the community activist.
The community activist went on to speak about an unjust war and was soon thereafter assassinated! He wanted the POW’s to come home and not have to spend years in prisoner of war camps for an unjust and false war of choice. It is without a doubt that governments and governors have great responsibility, but we seem not to understand that they are responsible to the communities that make up America and the people who act to remind governors and governments of these facts.
